That is correct. I should really put her in a better position but I don't like moving her; if her fan falls off it's a pain putting it back.

Dual monitors are great, I could never go back to a single screen. Even better having a 24" monitor for playing on.

The right is a status board for monitoring every aspect of osu!.
The guy is someone who works at this office, unrelated to osu!. I probably should have removed him for privacy. Let's pretend he's not there.

I haven't updated it actually. It's *that* good. I have made a version for Sublime Text, though, which I may post at some point.

I want to know what's being powered by that amp. The RRP is a bit scary.

The m902 was one of the most expensvie pieces of hardware I've bought in my life, but completely worth it. I use it to run my UE900s, UE TripleFi, beyer DT990s and apple earpods (don't underestimate those things when powered with a good amp – they sound quite amazing!). It has travelled with me over the years and served me well.

I actually have two "desktop" setups. Firstly, the one I should be using:

And the one I end up using most of the time:

No regrets.

I've been curious about the value of using different types of amplifiers with headphones. In the past, I've only tried a few sources and noticed no real difference aside from volume when I used a small FiiO amp (not exactly what you'd call high end). Can't really test any amps at home without blowing a lot of money, plus my headphones are relatively low impedance anyway.

fiio vs headphone out (on a macbook, or any other laptop) should be VERY noticeable in quality difference. if you are running a dedicated soundcard (creative / asus) there should be marginally no difference in quality, and the only benefit of getting an external amp would be to reduce noise or increase output levels.

anything above a fiio is so marginal i wouldn't recommend going there until you know you have reason. even then, the highest i would recommend going is a dragonfly – amazing little things.

that said, over the years i have used my m902 to run subwoofers, route multiple audio inputs through – digital and analog, do a-b testing with its dual headphone outputs, and generally make me not worry about loss of quality due to hardware, which always bugged me previously.
D33d
I can also vouch for the difference, even from going from laptop audio to ASUS' modo audio. However, once I got my Focusrite Scarlett, the difference was amazingly profound. I'd definitely recommend a good external source--it breathes new life into a music collection.

Also, I keep misreading m902 as m980. God damn it, somebody drag him back.

I've been using a Tascam US-122MKII (pictured) because I needed the XLR inputs for recording. No idea how the headphone input compares to a traditional amp though. Oh, and by FiiO, I meant one of their palm-sized pocket amps. Possibly a bootleg since I got it on eBay years ago, but it didn't blow up, so I'm not sure anymore, though I still have it lying around.

I won't be upgrading my audio setup for some time, but I'll bear in mind amplification in the future, particularly on the logistics of a headphone>amp>interface>pc chain versus headphone>interface>pc. The weakest link in my audio setup is easily my noisy fucker of a laptop fan which I will be so happy to be rid of in the future. If there's one thing I miss about my old netbook, it's that it was virtually silent.
