Introduction

The “How to Be like...” marathons are a trend in the osu!mania scene to compile charts from a given player’s most iconic and definitive scores into a single marathon course, often consisting of a dozen or more songs. This trend was initially inspired by the map “How to be like jhlee0133”, created by Night Bunny in July of 2017, with subsequent courses adopting the same moniker being made independently and without any consistency between them. Inspired by the potential of this format, Click has formalized this concept and organized a compendium of courses in the “How to Be like...” style for Canadian osu!mania players.

Click really captured the ambition of the entire Canadian osu!mania community with this project, and many members of the upper levels of the community pitched in to contribute their own courses, art, playtesting, or otherwise made contributions that facilitated this project coming together. This was a concentrated group effort, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’re excited to finally share our hard work with the osu!mania community at large. On that note, we’re proud to announce the release of the first three packs of the How to Be like Canada series!

Premise

The main goal of this project is to provide (Canadian) players with benchmarks and goals to compare themselves against and strive towards, meaning the format of this project was designed to encompass that however it isn’t just about that. I created this whole project as I felt the Canadian VSRG scene had some really unknown players with unique talents, spanning many categories. A lot of our players prefer to stay mostly unknown compared to other communities so I felt the need to be away with that and showcase our skill-sets.

The main difference between the courses that have come about as a result of this project and traditional “How to Be like...” courses is that the amount of charts comprising each course has been standardized to just four (with some exceptions), in order to keep the experience of each course concise and rewarding upon repeated playthroughs. Each pack itself has five courses with varying clear conditions comprised of a player's most favoured scores of theirs that they feel best defines their identity. The clear condition (which you can see in the artist field) for each course varies on what the player themself has accomplished in the past; meaning that every course you play has been achieved by that player themself at one point. If you wish to see the exact scores the player in question has gotten on each file it is saved on the spreadsheet.

With that being said please keep in mind that while submitting your scores on the courses is not only heavily suggested but asked of, making fun of others while doing it is not. Be kind. Do not squander the accomplishments of the player’s featured in this project. If I catch anyone actively putting down the player’s achievements (e.g. saying, ‘wow, this was sooo easy, that player sucks!’), I will remove the download links. Don’t do it.

Future Plans and Closing Notes

This project took me well over a month to complete and there are still many more changes planned for the future. I already have packs 4 (which features Canada’s best 7 key player) and five fully planned out and almost ready to go after a few minor changes, and even further in the future I would like to create a leaderboard saving all the scores of players around the world, but for now please post your scores in this thread so I can save them in the post instead!

Before I thank everyone involved I have a few closing notes: These courses are HARD. Since these are comprised of many top players' best scores and are required to be completed with little breaks (no pausing), it makes most of these courses Gamma+. Speaking more on the difficulty; you can see the average difficulty (using the Reform Dan system) as voted on by everyone on the sheet itself. Furthermore, any Canadian players are welcome to submit no matter their skill level, eventually I would like to have a pack for every skill level so I can more efficiently organize them. If you would like to submit ask around for a poutine boys discord invite and post in the channel.
