---------------
My first taiko mapset! I tried a few new things with the oni and liked the way it turned out, thus I'll try getting it ranked.
The background and mp3 are taken from Kert's mapset. Permission has been asked for usage and it has been granted.
I'd like to thank those for his futsuu~

Was told to post my feedback about kantan here.

Skypelog with a really broken "l" key duplicating everywhere:
SPOILER
i has some feedback for your kantan
[19:22:56] lolcubes: 00:29:147 (1,2) - dd is better because of 00:33:414 (2,3) - where you have dd
[19:23:00] lolcubes: you should have kk here
[19:23:06] lolcubes: because the guitar has high pitch, makes sense
[19:23:09] lolcubes: in my opinion at least
[19:23:14] Pheon: Ooh
[19:23:18] Pheon: Thanks, I'll look into it later on
[19:23:26] Pheon: Right now I'm kinda busy being addicted to tetris
[19:23:35] lolcubes: ill just leave my feedback here
[19:24:06] lolcubes: 00:41:680 (1,1,1,2) - think you should remove the first note, and change the llast one into k
[19:24:12] lolcubes: to follow the logic of the melody you kinda had here
[19:24:36] lolcubes: though the last one melody comes on a 1/2 tick before but still
[19:24:37] lolcubes: consistency
[19:25:02] lolcubes: 00:50:214 (1,1,2,1) - same thing here, remove first one and change last one to k
[19:25:07] lolcubes: k k k seems really good to me here
[19:26:00] lolcubes: 00:52:614 (2) - maybe change to k as well, i like pairings and the melody, while being of llower pitch than the last note, is still high pitched here
[19:26:03] lolcubes: and sounds intense
[19:26:09] lolcubes: so kk is better imo
[19:26:28] lolcubes: oh yeah and soft hitsounds aren't allowed by the standards ::<
[19:26:57] Pheon: ..
[19:26:59] Pheon: 'whoops'
[19:28:30] lolcubes: 01:06:747 (1) - by combo logic this is intended to be a k i believe
[19:29:09] lolcubes: 01:11:814 (1,1,1,1) - i would prefer to keep this more simple so just dd dd cause the mellody isn't going crazy
[19:29:11] lolcubes: sure
[19:31:09] lolcubes: 01:15:280 (1) - this should be a k following your llogic you had around (also the first one that isnt k but was supposed to be)
[19:31:09] lolcubes: :::P
[19:31:40] lolcubes: 01:20:614 (2) - double finish is cooll, so add one here? ::D
[19:32:07] lolcubes: 01:23:280 (2) - i think you should remove it, having an empty space separates the sections better
[19:32:47] lolcubes: 01:37:680 (2) - coulld also add finish if you did it on the other one
[19:33:14] lolcubes: 01:39:280 (1) - should probably remove since the finish was just before this note, also separating sections etc
[19:33:22] lolcubes: overalll the map is really good
[19:33:23] lolcubes: i like it

Feedback on kantan ahoy!

[Kantan]
SPOILER
08:51 Pheon: pokepokepokepoke
08:52 Pheon: yu no taked look at kantan :<
08:57 Tasha: oh crap
08:57 Tasha: lol
08:57 Tasha: i'oll do that now
08:57 Tasha: sorry
08:57 Tasha: ;-;
08:58 Tasha: so yeah
08:58 Tasha: just gonna do a quick irc mod
08:58 Tasha: and i'll post it in the thread afterwards
08:58 Tasha: 00:23:547 (1) - this should perhaps be a k
08:59 Tasha: 00:25:680 - add a k here? seems a little awkward there being no note there, and it's still 1/2 spacing
09:02 Tasha: 00:29:947 - add a d here? same reason as above
09:04 Tasha: 00:37:947 - could put a slider here and end it at 00:38:480 instead of just using a k
09:04 Tasha: 00:40:614 (1,1) - reverse these two notes perhaps, just a suggestion
09:05 Tasha: 00:42:747 (1) - Another suggestion, k here would probably work rather well if you include the above suggestion
09:07 Tasha: 01:37:680 (2) - could change this to a k as well
09:11 Tasha: and finally
09:11 Tasha: 01:00:347 (1,2,3,1,2) -
09:11 Tasha: i highly suggest removing the second note in this
09:12 Tasha: and then having a d k
09:12 Pheon: Mind if I ask for your reasoning on that one?
09:12 Tasha: with the d at 01:01:147 (2) -
09:12 Tasha: and the k at
09:12 Tasha: 01:01:414 (1) -
09:12 Tasha: the 2'nd note is offbeat
09:12 Tasha: of the actual song
09:12 Tasha: so it sounds weird
09:13 Tasha: http://puu.sh/1qNLS
09:13 Tasha: this here
09:13 Tasha: works better because you don't need to have the beat be as complex
09:13 Pheon: so.. just remove the note
09:14 Pheon: nvm 1sec
09:14 Tasha: the first note you see in that pic
09:14 Tasha: is at 01:00:347 -
09:14 Pheon: It sounds kinda iffy without that note to me - the instrument is building up tension which is nowhere to be found in the map at that point.
09:15 Tasha: if you absolutely have to keep the note
09:15 Tasha: put it at the proper time
09:15 Tasha: 01:01:814 -
09:15 Pheon: 01:00:347 (1) - what if I change this to D instead?
09:16 Pheon: Puts a bit more emphasis, keeps the note out and the core structure stays the same
09:16 Tasha: 01:00:747 -
09:16 Tasha: was the time i meant btw for that note
09:16 Tasha: >.>
09:16 Pheon: I know what ya meant
09:17 Tasha: http://puu.sh/1qNOF
09:17 Tasha: this could work quite well
09:17 Tasha: making it a D works as well
09:18 Pheon: I'll go with your suggestion.
09:18 Tasha: anyways
09:18 Tasha: should i post this in the thread?
09:19 Pheon: Yup
09:19 Tasha: kk

Thank you lolcubes and Tasha for your mods. They were helpful :D

Hi~ Sorry I'm late because I spent my time mapping and being lazy haha D:

[General]
  1. You have to change diff settings for each difficulty baka! HP Drain 4 and OD 3 for Kantan, Hp Drain 6 and OD 5 for Muzukashii?
  2. What are all those green points? They are all useless except for the kiai D:
  3. Audio lead in? Why? Remove it please.
  4. Remove letterboxes
  5. Hitsounds are really too loud imo, try 60%~70% please?
[Kantan]
  1. SV 1,2 is too fast imo. Why not SV 1,05 (1,4x0,75) or 1?
[Muzukashii]
  1. 00:26:614 (3,4) - (3) is following the guitar or whatever and (4) the drums. So you should or else follow fully the drums adding a note at 00:26:480 - or else remove (4). It feels weird atm.
And that's all D: I'm not really a fan of maps following melody but meh, it seems like you're following this style in a good way. :I
Or maybe I'm just bad at modding.

  1. You have to change diff settings for each difficulty baka! HP Drain 4 and OD 3 for Kantan, Hp Drain 6 and OD 5 for Muzukashii? I think it's better for people who are getting into this to get used to harder difficulty settings right away - This way, there won't be a huge jump from kantan to futsuu/muzukashii.
  2. What are all those green points? They are all useless except for the kiai D: Removed them.
  3. Audio lead in? Why? Remove it please. Removed as well.
  4. Remove letterboxes As you wish.
  5. Hitsounds are really too loud imo, try 60%~70% please? Changed to 70%. (Oops, mapped this while having hitsound volume lower than song-volume in options)
[Kantan]
  1. SV 1,2 is too fast imo. Why not SV 1,05 (1,4x0,75) or 1? I think 1.2SV is fine here. 1.2 is already slower than the others, the rookies I asked to testplay told me it's fine and, most importantly, the song is 225bpm. Therefore, it is natural that it's faster than 170bpm, for instance.
[Muzukashii]
  1. 00:26:614 (3,4) - (3) is following the guitar or whatever and (4) the drums. So you should or else follow fully the drums adding a note at 00:26:480 - or else remove (4). It feels weird atm. I tried following a structure here, with the doubles on those sections. If this does however pose a problem, I will change it. In fact, after revising, I changed it around a bit.
And that's all D: I'm not really a fan of maps following melody but meh, it seems like you're following this style in a good way. :I
Or maybe I'm just bad at modding.
Thank you very much for the mod~

Here's the mod you requested XD

[Kantan]

01:05:680 (1) - change this to a slider? seems too fast for a spinner, and a slider would look awesome here

[Muzukashii]

So many triples for 225 bpm :v

00:39:280 - 00:43:014 - are these necessary? D:
00:47:014 (2,3,4,1,2,3) - you can change this to k k k k, whole stanza would look like d d k d k k k k d
00:47:814 - 00:51:547 - again, are these really necessary? You should cut down on the triples. :<

Your Kiai time is filled with triples, these are too fast for 225 bpm muzu. Feels like an oni.

[Oni]

Cannot input much here, so many notes for 225 as well.

[General]

You could change the artist to "Falcom Saund Team J.D.K." to look really nice.
Your difficulty curve is too high. You should either make a new muzu, rename your current muzu to oni and your oni to inner oni. That way you can create new things with your inner oni, change up some notes, add a few notes to your new oni, and have a muzu with 1-5 triples throughout the whole song. But this is my opinion, you don't really have to do this. Your other option is to just reduce your amount of notes on both muzu and oni.

00:47:814 - 00:51:547 - again, are these really necessary? You should cut down on the triples. :< I didn't delete all the triplets, but I took out about 50% of them. I like the overall feeling they're providing, but I do agree on having overused them and seemingly having turned it into an oni. Now it should be more playable and more like a muzukashii.

Your Kiai time is filled with triples, these are too fast for 225 bpm muzu. Feels like an oni.

[Oni]

Cannot input much here, so many notes for 225 as well. Is that a bad thing..? If you're selecting 225bpm, you shouldn't be expecting a smooth ride, and I wanted to turn it into an interesting run which is more than just a quick sightread FC.

[General]

You could change the artist to "Falcom Saund Team J.D.K." to look really nice. I'll be checking up on this.
Your other option is to just reduce your amount of notes on both muzu and oni.My initial goal with the muzukashii was to make a stepping stone between muzukashii and oni. I wasn't around when muzukashiis became more popular (or at least, I was into onis already back then), but the difficulty gap seemed rather big to me. That's why I tried going for a muzukashii which is harder than most muzukashiis but not an oni just yet. Perhaps something like muzukashii+? I didn't name it like this because it's 225bpm and you should be expecting a rather hard map in the first place. Harder than 180bpm at least. This is also my reasoning for the oni - if I were to put the same exact map on a 180bpm it would be an oni. Not an inner oni. Therefore I kept it as-is, with my justification being that 225bpm shouldn't be easy in the first place.
Thank you very much for the mod, the muzukashii has improved a lot and at least some of the thought process behind the difficulties is explained now (or so I hope). ^^

Tickrate 1 in all diffs.
01:21:680 - Kiai should end here.

[Oni]
yay

[Muzukashii]
  1. 01:06:747 - Ok, I love the kiai, but I think it's a bit too hard. This is still 225 bpm. I would suggest making some patterns less dense, because if you take the ending of the kiai into account, the difficulty gap is insanely big.
  2. 01:07:680 (1) - meaningless note for a muzukashii. On this bpm, ddk x d is already enough imo.
  3. 01:08:747 (2) - Same here. I can see the nice variety, but it's more suited towards an Oni diff instead if you ask me.
  4. 01:10:880 (1) - Yep, here too. etc, just make it less dense basically.
  5. 01:13:680 (2,3,1,1) - kkk k? While kkd k is fine, kkk k is more suitable maybe.
  6. 01:14:614 (1,2,1,1,1,2,3,4,1) - This is hard. Really hard. I know Muzukashii means hard, but this is REALLY hard. :D I would suggest to drop all 1/4s here because they actually aren't in the music. Improvisation is cool, but this is a bit much.
  7. 01:21:947 (1,1,1,2,3,1,1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5,6,1) - This should get split up into 2 packs instead. This is too long for a muzukashii, especially on this bpm. I would suggest to drop 01:22:614 (1) - and make 01:22:880 (3) - into a kat. If you feel like it, you could make 01:22:747 (2) - a kat too, but eh, w/e.
[Futsuu]
  1. 00:08:880 (1) - Why not a kat? It's in the music and would keep the kat consistency with the previous sections. Double kat is fine here imo.
  2. 00:29:414 (2,3,1) - I have a more interesting suggestion instead of these. These just follow the base rhythm when you have a lot of interesting things going on. For example, you could remove 00:29:680 (3) - because that note is rhythmically insignificant to the music here (if you map the other stuff), cause if you add a kat at 00:30:214 - and at 00:30:347, you suddenly spiced things up, and still stayed in the range on futsuu.
  3. 00:34:747 (5) - Turn this into a kat because the melody changes "direction"? If you do this, you could also make 00:35:280 (1,1,2) - and 00:36:347 (1,1,2) - into d d k which would make everything more interesting. You would still have the same result in the end (of the section), but with a much more interesting effect imo, since the melody is considered too.
  4. 01:14:214 (1,2,1,1,2) - Same thing as a bit earlier, boring because the transition is ignored.
tldr; instead of http://puu.sh/3nE0d/66254142ea.jpg, try http://puu.sh/3nE0Q/a2afc9f4ce.jpg
  5. 01:22:747 (2,1,1) - Same deal here, transition is much more interesting.
[Kantan]
  1. 01:02:880 (4) - d? Makes it much more interesting.
That's all!

01:21:680 - Kiai should end here. As you wish, wasn't sure about something regarding timing on this.

  1. 01:06:747 - Ok, I love the kiai, but I think it's a bit too hard. This is still 225 bpm. I would suggest making some patterns less dense, because if you take the ending of the kiai into account, the difficulty gap is insanely big. See posts below.
  2. 01:07:680 (1) - meaningless note for a muzukashii. On this bpm, ddk x d is already enough imo. Applied, sound reasoning.
  3. 01:08:747 (2) - Same here. I can see the nice variety, but it's more suited towards an Oni diff instead if you ask me. Yadda yadda "hard muzukashii 225 bpm".
  4. 01:10:880 (1) - Yep, here too. etc, just make it less dense basically. q_q
  5. 01:13:680 (2,3,1,1) - kkk k? While kkd k is fine, kkk k is more suitable maybe. Changed to ddd k instead.
  6. 01:14:614 (1,2,1,1,1,2,3,4,1) - This is hard. Really hard. I know Muzukashii means hard, but this is REALLY hard. :D I would suggest to drop all 1/4s here because they actually aren't in the music. Improvisation is cool, but this is a bit much. Didn't drop all of them, but did take out two notes.
  7. 01:21:947 (1,1,1,2,3,1,1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5,6,1) - This should get split up into 2 packs instead. This is too long for a muzukashii, especially on this bpm. It's split up into two packets now, but the kat-suggestions aren't applied.
[Futsuu]
  1. 00:08:880 (1) - Why not a kat? It's in the music and would keep the kat consistency with the previous sections. Double kat is fine here imo. This would make the transition way too dense this early in the section.
  2. 00:29:414 (2,3,1) - I have a more interesting suggestion instead of these. Changed around as to keep the consistency-break as suggested, as well as more emphasis, but changed it in another way - instead of 2x triplets, it's a single and a 5-pattern now.
  3. 00:34:747 (5) - Turn this into a kat because the melody changes "direction"? If you do this, you could also make 00:35:280 (1,1,2) - and 00:36:347 (1,1,2) - into d d k which would make everything more interesting. You would still have the same result in the end (of the section), but with a much more interesting effect imo, since the melody is considered too. Heave ho, applied.
  4. 01:14:214 (1,2,1,1,2) - Same thing as a bit earlier, boring because the transition is ignored.
tldr; instead of http://puu.sh/3nE0d/66254142ea.jpg, try http://puu.sh/3nE0Q/a2afc9f4ce.jpg A bit hard, but I do like it.
  5. 01:22:747 (2,1,1) - Same deal here, transition is much more interesting. Same deal here.
[Kantan]
  1. 01:02:880 (4) - d? Makes it much more interesting. Agreed upon.
That's all!
Also added 'those'-tag to all difficulties and added a kat on 01:23:014 (3) - as to make it less empty.
