I think I screwed up

I originally wanted to play for rankings to see how far I could get but I accidentally skipped farming 80-100 pp plays. My top 5 plays are too high to make anything under 100 pp farmable and I am kind of stuck now :(

The bottom of your top 100 is 30 and 40pp plays. theres still a lot of work you could do in the 80-100 pp range

Yeah that's true I guess. I just wish I had made it easier for myself by farming that range before pushing up my top plays

Most of your top plays are on charts that are roughly the same difficulty as charts giving 100-80pp. Theres quite a few farm maps due to the way star rating in osu!mania works, especially regarding 4key (just wait until you try Triumph and Regret [regret], C18H27NO3, Galaxy Collapse, Zettai Reido, Algorithm, and quite a few charts in the 4star range). If farming pp is your goal, there are much larger honey pots ahead of you. if improvement is your goal, disregard ranked charts and their pp output, as 4key ranked is very skewed in terms of which skillsets are represented and focusing on them too much will give you a very narrow skillset (mostly chordjacks, LNs, and bursty streams), which you'll need to fill in via unranked charts

tl;dr pp bad, unranked practice sets good.

Yeah I totally see your point, I haven't been playing seriously for very long (just under a month ago) but I am already far worse at some skillsets than others. Especially jackspeed. I have downloaded a couple practice charts but they are too hard for me to improve on. Did you struggle with this as well/know a way to practice at at a 3-4 star range?

For me, i just played faster and faster charts as soon as possible, and as a result i had some really poor accuracy. If you want to improve on osu!mania, find the highest level of difficulty you can consistently S and go for scores in the 97-99 range, builds consistency. When you're having a really strong session, step the difficulty up a bit and aim for S-ranks. Repeat this process as you gradually move onto harder maps and as long as youre playing a variety of patterns, you should get to where you want to be relatively quickly. once you start getting competent in the 4star range with consistent S-rank scores, it would be a good time to start moving into practice packs in the 4star range.
