Okay so I decided to finally post this here after about 2 years of stress over this issue. Everytime I have to play maps with 1/8 sliders or maps that many sliders at the screen at the same time, my osu! simply starts lagging, making me miss very often. It's not a 'big' freeze, it's just like getting to 20fps or so (even though the counter doesn't change, still stays at 300-400fps. Changing the fps limiter to 60fps causes extreme input delay, 120fps as well. By the way, I probably did post this on the 'lag' thread, but nothing useful really happened since then. Also, playing with OpenGL or windowed mode fixes this issue, however the game overall plays pretty sloppy (windowed mode is related to Aero, I know).

Only reproducible on maps that have 1/8 sliderstreams or maps with fast sliders on DT, like:
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/1871 [Etna] (with DT)
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/55560 [grumd]
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/243 [Hard]
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/10143 [Love]
http://osu.ppy.sh/s/1391 [Hard]

Computer specs:
Atomix210
Played all the maps you posted,so i can't replicate this, my fps are always around 1400/1800.Also tried with 60/120 frame limiter and still can't replicable. Anyway ill try now with fullscreen mode and ill see if can be replicable.

EDIT: Tested just 3 of those maps on fullscreen 1920x1080, anything happend, still not replicable.

Sisable snaking, update drivers. Try OpenGL if still unhappy.

Snaking already disabled, drivers updated.

not sure what "sloppy" means.

This has been happening to me also, I can confirm that those short sliders are the cause. I'm afraid I can't add any more info.

Seems like it's extremely low fps even though it says 200-300fps.

But I don't get it, to be honest.
Can't tell if stupid or....

Back to the topic:
Do you lag if you make a 2000bpm song and fill it with 1/8's, or only when there are too many sliders at once? (I don't, with lower comp. specs)
Are you using semi-transparent sliders?
Smaller slider balls?

When you "go down to 20fps", does it also effect things like approach circles, or just your cursor?
mmsliders, yes. With peppysliders the same issue occurs.

And the BPM doesn't matter much, anything that's higher than 100BPM 1/8 causes a bunch of small 'freezes' in the game. (usually 0.25s or so, but sometimes more.)

Interesting fact that it disappears in windowed or OpenGL modes...

Maybe you could capture the stuff you experience?

yep, I stopped using DirectX because of this :P
I think it has to do with my graphic drivers though.

the ending froze my computer lol (with DirectX)

I don't know you replicate this, also tried everything from changing resolution/mode to switching directX/OpenGL, and STILL not replicable.

Maybe we all have something different in our PC specs? Like, any kind of maximum objects on the screen that can be handled.
I'll try to monitor my video card's memory usage when playing [Love] diff.

Edit: Well, nothing really special there.

When I get home I'll try to get some proof, but funnily enough fraps always records everything with constant 60fps (unless some other program is making osu! lag).
Mercurial
As far as I know, Game Booster has a record software too.

This is the lag I get (With DirectX)

That's why I use OpenGL :P
peppy
Holy crap. Have you tried different versions of graphics card drivers?
Saten
I guess, if I revert back to the old drivers (the one that came with the OS install)

With the latest drivers from Nvidia, I get this lag on osu! but not anywhere else.

What card? I have a gtx460 and using 306.97 and I experience no such issue.

GeForce 9600M GS TurboCache
Laptop of course

If it's a laptop, did you check how hot it is?
Saten
I don't think that has to do with it. Like I said only occurs with the latest graphic drivers and only with DirectX

My room is cold (and my hands are cold) and my laptop isn't unatural hot in any way.
Hernan
Updating drivers worked for me. The thing is I didn't actually UPDATE but re-installed the ones I already had.

You should check the temp sensors in your computer. Depending on how the laptop was built, the GPU can be easily be around 70°C or more even if you don't feel heat from it when touching it.

Strangely I get weird lag issues pretty much no matter what. Even though it says im gettong 60FPS, its looking more like 25FPS

and I've got a GTX260 so im sure im well above what is needed to play the game smoothly (core i7, 8gb DDR3 memory btw)
