Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on this thread, but you may recognize me as someone who’s frequently posted in the tournament sub forum as I used to host many tournaments myself. As of recently, a lot of effort has gone into censoring loli related content in the tournament forum, more recently particularly a tournament one of my friends was hosting that happened to have to word “loli” in the title. I asked a member of the GMT about why the post was taken down and their reasoning was because the tournament was “themed around minors”.
(Hiding their name bc it’s not relevant, also weird that they’d use the definition of “lolicon” to justify this 😭)

Not only do the tournament committee and GMT not understand that “loli” is simply a description of a character in anime/manga (never refers to real people and is not inherently sexual) and they’re treating them like they are real people, but also the enforcement of this rule is very inconsistently enforced. There are TONS of ranked and unranked mapsets that either have suggestive lolicon BGs, or are songs pulled directly from the OST of a lolicon visual novel.
Here is the definition of a loli btw:

What do you guys think about this? Is this censorship justified? Why doesn’t osu! staff do anything about other instances of lolis/lolicon on the website? If they were to enforce these rules across the platform how would that affect the culture of osu! as a whole? If you want to add anything else too that’d be great, and please keep the discussion civil because I know this can be a touchy topic for some people 😭
Edit: idk why the images aren’t showing up, I’ve got the correct BCode 😭, anyways I’ve included the links to the screenshot of my conversation and the definition of a loli
Edit 2: to add more context to the culture, I recommend looking through other posts in this sub forum! This is my first time here and I can already see how much more welcomed lolis are here with passionate conversations about them 😭
Just a reminder btw that the tournament had no sexual or other TOS breaking intentions, just a cute and funny theme 😭
