but the funniest thing is that everyone who seems to complain about the pp system and improvement and anything all have the same tv size 6-digit farm maps in their top plays. pp is not something you need to farm for. play longer maps, play more variety, and improvement will come (along with higher rankings)
It's not entirely based on combo, your accuracy also have to be high enough to gain pp. You have to be in rhythm with the music to FC with the highest accuracy possible if you want a lot of pp.
Also, don't play for pp please, enjoy game and you will never complain about anything on osu.

Also, the pp system isn't "only" about combo. (Although it is the biggest factor and I agree that it shouldn't be)

Point is, the only way his scenario is actually true is is the two thing i posited: He had only one miss but a shit-ton of 100s and 50s, or he was playing a long but easy (SR-wise) map that wouldn't have given much pp anyways and then screwed up. Either one is not Osu's fault.

Rhythm game players when a unique rhythm game that utilizes player aim via mouse or tablet doesn't follow the exact same scoring system as VSRGs or taiko.
Being serious now, osu! takes a lot of dedication and effort to climb the rankings, you can't expect to become a god at a game you only have 83 hours on. I haven't even hit 4 digit and I have 1.8k hours in the game (I probably could hit 4 digit if I mega farmed, but where's the fun in that)

I feel like whether you think PP system is working or not you HAVE to be an actual good player to get to the top ranks. Like I think there are a lot of players for sure who aren't at the ABSOLUTE top even if they got skills for it because they play maps and mods that don't really favor climbing the ranks but you're not gonna be like stuck to the bottom just because of PP lol, you climb the ranks sooner or later if you just work on your skills I think

I can accept not weighing so heavily on combo (I kinda disagree, but I can accept it as a fair argument), but removing combo as a factor entirely is just a no-no.

Do you complain about osu!standard's PP system quite frequently? Do you like to rant about how you would've gotten a new top play if only the "trash PP system" didn't rely strictly on combo? Do you like cats? (may or may not be related) Well, let us introduce Ranked Score. Ranked Score is a score-based ranking system that is selling for a low price of $0.00. Amazing, right? Please price your order at rankings/osu/score and choose the mode of your liking—alright, you get the point.

Yes, missing does and should affect your score (and yes, even a 1-miss on an easy section justifiably should tank your score even if you're 1500x in), but it shouldn't be paramount.
Mania pp is completely separate from combo but purely judging by what I’ve seen, the weight of combo does seem a bit too high on STD. Combo should still be a thing to consider but 95% FC shouldn’t be better than 99% 1 miss at the middle.Voidedosu wrote:
