What is your definition of good and bad isekai?

Personally, what is your favorite and what is your least liked?

How do you find Grimgar’s realistic take of what Isekai would be like versus the typical ones?

I just want an isekai that's unique, but not fucking vending machine isekai unique. Every anime has to have good execution and isekai is no exception.

Probably my most favorite isekai is mushoku tensei (controversial). When mc gets reincarnated, his personality doesn't 180 and becomes a totally different person from after he died. He still remembers and holds on to the trauma and suffering he experienced from his past. He still has his personality of being a complete pervert and being scared of other people.

But as the story progresses, he slowly overcomes his flaws and weaknesses and turns into an op protagonist that he trutly earned.

My least liked isekai are those generic isekai fantasy anime where mc gets a harem in the first 2 episodes.

I personally haven't watched grimgar so I can't give my opinion on that one.

Yes, other audiences really focused on the MCs physical appearance. I bet if it was an ikemen then majority wouldn’t complain about MC being pervert. It’s how it plays naturally. What I love of Moshoku is how it’s so alive especially with its dialogue and not packed with cliches after cliches. Each episodes are something to look forward to.

High School DxD mainly due to how good the story is up until BorN, and then it got weird and OG, which was fine and all. Hero would return to the original story arc I think.

I like rezero because the maker doesn't always have to stick to his own story line because the main can't die but always respawns at a check point.
Therefore you can see the characteristics of many characters in different situations which are not always related to the main story because they can be erased again

We probably all had seen r18 art of her when we're younger. She's still so prevalent in the NSFW community it's insane.

For me, it's either character building or the world building. If one of those two fail, then it's gonna be awful experience. Other exception was comedy. As of my favorite is, Ima Soko ni Iru Boku and Twelve Kingdom. I haven't watch grimgar since I heard, it was better to experience it trough Light Novel and I haven't got them so, no comment

i never watched an isekai but i would prefer one where the mc doesn’t straight up die at the beginning

idk it seems like a pretty common trope
