I know this feeling...
Can't remember the name but It was a visual novel. Basically the main character is a transfer student in Japan where he meets 2 friends. Together they tell about the locations of Japan, history, etc.
I usually don't cry with videogames, these ones just made me feel sad.

Danganronpa, Your turn to die, The Last Of Us, The Walking Dead and a whole lot of visual novels
for me its beyond two souls, Beyond Two Souls has a really intriguing story for me, it was just really fun, Beautiful story too.
