I think we all understand how badly Osu!Mania needs a PP rework again, as well as a revamp for the difficulty calculation.
Starting with the difficulty calculation, there are just too many maps that any player can farm, dare I say Triumph and Regret, simply because the difficulty calculation relies too heavily on individual parts of a map rather than an "average". Making a comparison with The Empress by Undead Corporation (4.18*) and basically any low 5* map you can think of, we could all agree on which maps are technically harder.
This leads into why PP is so poorly handed out to players that don't exactly show the greatest skills, which goes hand in hand with the OD of maps. I've taken a few looks at some maps and the OD tends to be around 8 for nearly every map which in my opinion is extremely inaccurate.
Though I'm probably biased and out of date, a couple changes to the difficulty calculation would be nice, especially for the abundance of LN maps that exist in 7k.
A few things to consider are how close notes are in patterns (not necessarily jack hammers), double stairs, randomness (how far apart each consecutive note is relative to one another) and long notes. A difficult feature of LN maps are disjoint long notes that start and end at different times and having individual patterns while holding long notes.
Last but not least, maps with more than 4 keys seriously need to be worth more thank 4k. When you compare a 4k to 7k you'll notice that the accuracy is trememdously different as having 7 keys to smack is in fact much much harder to do when it comes to accuracy. It also allows 4k players to flood the ranks with their cheeky 99% plays on nearly every map while a 7k player would find themselves farming maps that are 2 stars harder purely because accuracy is too hard to attain in 7k.
Hope I'm not too biased with this post, just wanna raise some awareness of the mania ranking system as the old forum post seems to be 7 years old. I have personally been playing the game since 2014 so I don't think I'm too crazy but yeah, some feedback would be nice and development could be even better.
