Seeing this a lot is just an inconvenience. I think it would be helpful if quotes like this were automatically cut down to the most recent two listed.

In that case, you should specifically be quoting the outermost quote(s) manually and addressing them regardless of whether or not the recent ones will be truncated. The most recent two are enough to establish context in practical situations.Echo wrote:

In either case, a simple "are you sure?" warning would be fine. It would still save time rather than erasing the quotes manually.
