Index and thumb keep switching

Hi, so I'm quite new to Osu!mania. I've been playing a lot of normal Osu! until I decided to learn mania as well.

The learning process is going quite fine and normal, and I have found online a decent amount of tips to help me in my journey (more is always appreciated)

But there is one issue that keep bothering me. Whenever I try to play 5K or 7K I place my thumb on the left end of my spacebar as my hand is most comfortable there (I use left thumb btw for spacebar), the issue is that in that position my thumb lies between my index finger and my middle finger. So my brain keeps thinking the order goes like: ring finger - middle finger - thumb - index finger - index - middle - ring. Instead of: ring - middle - index - thumb - index - middle - ring. This results in me always switching the second/third and middle bar during 5K and 7K respectively.

My question is do you have any tips or ideas for me to stop making this mistake? Is there a way for me to avoid this before it might be too late and I do something I might regret in the future?

All answers are welcome.
Thank you

i'm learning 5k right now and since i am pretty decent on 4k (like 4* maps) i have the same problem, my solution was to either get used to it or switch key bindings, i swithced key bindings to "asd56" with 5 and 6 being in the numpad, it was still hard tho since i was so used to the 4 k configs, a tip could be with the asd56 keybinds to just bend the fingers that you don't use so that you don't accidentally press keys, once you get used to it in like 1 hour or so you can just stop bending them and you won't use them since you are used to using the others

Play slow maps, and I mean really slow. Make sure you can see the note falling and you can verbally tell yourself "Use your second finger on your left hand". Over time your brain will figure it out. For the same reason I can't play with my arms crossed, my right hand continues to hit the keys on the right and vise versa.
