It isn't unrankable anymore.
It was removed from rules many months ago, plus it was already being disrespected by modifying hit objects code. It was disrepcted too for many other types of mods

That's not the point in this discussion, so please stop there.

The deal here is to suggest to add a hold feature that's not quite the same as hold sliders, since it would be different in essence.

I read my previous suggestion again (since I tend to forget things nowdays), and I'd like to invite more people to read it and comment since it sounds like something pretty interesting, and I'd dare say even fun to play.

There could even be a maximum number of holds "running" at the same time, though I could see that being abused, so I'll just mention it but stick to the original idea of just one at a time.

Why not add both? Both the "traditional" holds this thread is asking for as well as narakuholds. In fact, shake things up and release them both in the same build. Imagine the wonderful chaos as mappers race to use the new toys and players race to learn to play with them. :P

No reason to program in a limit for the number of narakuholds (they're called that. that's their official name) at once. If people make horrid shitpiles with lots of them then maybe consider a ranking rule limiting them down the road sometime.

The naraku holds basically take the really confusing part of technika and bring it to osu!. This is something I honestly don't want to see, it's just not intuitive.

Requiring the player to release a hold on time would also be a potential issue, as I can imagine predicting when a hold note ends would be a nightmare. Players are used to holding short repeats till they finish anyway, I don't see why hold notes should be any different.

Just the normal holds like in osu! stream would be better, although we can already achieve the same effect with sliders (it just looks funny when we do it)

Actually project diva's hold notes you need to release them on time, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Well, it's just an idea, as I once suggested smaller spinners and a whole concept behind that.

I can see potential uses as the one mentioned with the crescendos. And, at least in my mind, these "narakuholds" look as something challenging, that you'd have to get used to, of course. But not as confusing.
I was totally thinking in osu!stream when I thought about this, and how there can be two elements (a hold and other circles/sliders) happen at the same time, and somehow thought of a way to incorporate it to osu!

Also, I just thought about this whole thing as an alternative, but overall I think that a hold feature would be cool.

guys, may I ask what a "Narakuhold" is, I have NO iShit, and I dont want to get it either (this includes the overseized MP3-Player, the phone which just works well when you have applied some "patches" and that wannabe Tablet)

In osu stream the hold feature can be used wile something else is happening (one finger can be holding it down, wile the other finger can be sliding or tapping). What I think should happen is we have to click and hold the it with one key and hold it down wile using the other key to do somthing else.(you click it with K1, but you have to hold it down. as long as you do that you can move the cursor away and use K2 to move slider or something. when the hold it complete then you can let go)
To put both keys to use as well.

This is a thing, its id is 128. Try looking at it in the editor for proof. Need more proof? Ok then, lazer calls 128 a Hold despite not even being implemented in lazer!

As far as I know hold sliders are not allowed for ranking. They were allowed until early 2010 or a bit earlier (an era when the maps were... ugh...)
Well, it may be okay for osu!stream/droid users. But almost all players are in PC version so it would be senseless to hold the mouse in a game where you got to move mouse/pen constantly.
And if overused, they would make VERY boring maps.
Not to talk about CTB, it would make maps absurdly easy (Do you know how stressing is to stand still and then being attacked by jumps?). And people overusing HT in Taiko, etc.
So, NO. I don't agree. UNLESS there were a fifth game mode that would be played with multitouch screens, but as I said, we mostly play in PC and a considerable percentage of users doesn't have a touchscreen, plus, it would be arm-tiring to hold your fingers into a 32-inch monitor.

I was thinking the hold circle shoud have TWO aproach circles, one for the moment to press the circle, and another indicating the time.
Anyways, someone can leave me here how to do this on a slider using the .osu archives on the note bloc? I mean, what number I have to modify to modify the slider lenght

repeat kicksliders are common and do the exact same thing to its flow, I have seen them made so small they are effectively hold notes and when used properly they are fine. Having them officially exists lets people make hold notes that don't have the issue of building up titanic amounts of combo/hp for what they are.
