Hareimu asked me to mod the top diff so here I am!

The mod will be structured a bit differently than usual since I think it works better this time. Please read the mod as a whole before answering!

Emiru's Aria

Inconsistent Intensity:
Even though the intensity of each individual section of the map is appropriate, the intensity of the map as a whole is inconsistent. There are calm parts where you used hypers on a regular basis or even used hypers with high snapping (1/8, 1/12) while you didn't use any hypers for more intense parts of the music. Let's take a look at some sections:
  1. 00:01:415 (1,2) - A 1/8 hyperdash right at the beginning may be a style choice but is still highly questionable since the beginning is a calm part of the music. It is also inconsistent with the upcoming downbeats (00:03:009 (1) - , 00:04:509 (1) - and so on), since these didn't got a hyper at all.
  2. Comparing the sections starting from 00:37:509 - , 00:48:009 - respectively 01:00:009 - , the music is getting more intense with every section (mainly due to the drums but not only). There is not a real difference in the intensity of your map though, you decide to neglect hypers even for the last section and the flow doesn't really get harder either. The intensity raise should be at least somehow noticeable while playing.
  3. In addition to the last point: Looking at the section starting at 01:12:009 - , you finally decide to use hypers - in a calm section. You did lower the density of your pattern for the calm section which is good, but starting to use hypers periodically here while neglecting them for so long feels pretty clumsy to me since that normally would be done for a stronger section instead of a calmer one.
  4. 01:15:009 (1,2,3,4) - Why is this the exact same pattern as the previous ones although the music is far more intense here?
  5. Compare the sections starting at 01:52:509 - respectively 02:04:509 - : You used more hypers in the first section even though the second one is more intense (and the second section is only barely harder regarding its flow so that isn't enough build-up).
  6. The build-up you mapped starting at 02:13:509 (1) - is nicely executed, but isn't demanded by the music and therefore kinda overdone.
  7. The section starting at 02:19:509 - is calmer than the previous one starting at 02:16:509 - , but you didn't consider it in your pattern. You even used more direction changes than beforehand which is contraindicating.
  8. 02:26:821 (1,2) - Waiting for so long and using a 1/12 for a barely hearable sound is overdone.
The intensity management of this map is too much focusing on individual sounds and not paying much attention to the overall intensity of the different sections. Some adjustments to better that out would be appreciated.


Missing variety in spacing:
The spacing in some sections is missing variety. Some sections do only provide dashes, no walks or hypers, and even the dashes are not varying much in their spacing. That leads to poor emphasis at some points. Take a look at the following example:
  1. Section from 00:01:509 - to 00:15:571 - : The section has pretty much only dashes. You don't use higher spacing for major sounds like downbeats or strong violin sounds. You also don't use lower spacing for rather unimportant sounds like 00:09:571 (2) - .
Pretty much all sections where you didn't use hypers need more noticeable spacing variation. I know that there are spacing variations but they are too minimal atm to be effective. Emphasizing the song just by the used flow just doesn't work out well enough.


Not noticeable transitions:
Some musical transitions are not really remarkable in your map. That is no major issue but I think it is worth mentioning it. Let's look at some spots that occur me:
  1. 01:17:634 (7,8,1,2) - The transition into the kiai is not that noticeable here because it is the second out of three jumps in a row which doesn't really put the spotlight on 01:18:009 (1) - , and the last jump is even bigger which makes 01:18:009 (1) - even less remarkable.
  2. 01:40:509 (1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3) - Similar issue here: 01:41:634 (1) - Is nothing special after all these jumps. You put way more emphasis on 01:42:009 (3) - by making it the first slider after a lot single notes (which also ends the chain of jumps), emphasis on 01:41:634 (1) - is not really given sadly.
  3. 02:19:321 (4,1) - The transition here is also not really remarkable since you maintain the same intensity with your pattern.
Transitions should be more clear, I just pointed the most obvious cases out, some minor transitions that I haven't pointed out could be more remarkable too but they are not that urgent.


Other suggestions:
  1. 01:19:134 (1) - Why is the NC here instead of 01:19:509 (4) - ?
  2. 01:33:009 (1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,1,2,3) - Pretty harsh pattern here, gets way harder than ever before. I think 01:34:509 (1,2,3,1,2,3) - Can be nerfed you are using 6 sliders to cover 4 violin sounds which isn't good imo, reducing it to 4 sliders for better emphasis and a bit easier pattern would be nice.
Please don't misjudge my mod Emiru! The diff isn't bad at all (flow and gameplay are nice to name some good things), it just felt clumsy in some aspects so I decided to structure my mod a bit differently than usual. I don't expect a rework of the diff (it is too good for that), more like some noticeable adjustments that take my suggestions into account. I hope I phrased my concerns in an understandable way, feel free to poke me when you have questions.

I might take a more detailed look at the diff and at the other diffs at a later point if needed, but that should be enough input for the top diff for now.

Strongly changed , nerfed 1/12 , make a new whole kick slider intensity ending , im keeping aesthetic stuff tho ( like the first kick slider ) of course it's overdone but it change nothing and look better :o thanks 4 the mod 8-)

  2. 02:26:821 (1,2) - Je sais pas si c'est vraiment nécessaire ça mdr, juste un slider fait l'affaire je pense.
  3. 02:15:759 (1,2,3,4) - La musique est douce et il y a pas de kick, je trouve que l'utilisation d'hyper ici est pas vraiment justifiée.

00:01:415 (1) - feels just slightly awkward to play at first, could maybe rotate up 45 degrees

00:47:259 This should be the start of the slider to emphasize the sound that comes after the loud instrumentals

01:32:446 (2) - Maybe this could be moved left slightly by to either x152/x160? Test this out, im not sure if it would flow better but I think it emphasizes the sound better w/ more spacing than the streams previously

01:43:508 (1,2) - the distance between these two notes feels very far and sudden, I would either reduce the spacing or ctrl-g the slider and make adjustments to the following sections

02:13:509 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) - this section feels way too hard and unexpected for the end of this song, considering the kiai in the midsection is much easier in terms of difficulty than this section. Change the patterns completely or make them friendlier to play

02:26:821 (1,2) - these notes dont need to be mapped, just end the map at the end of the previous spinner, the moaning sound at the end is insignificant, or just place a singular note to represent that sound similar to spectator's Alice diff

modding top diff myself since I think some of the issues I can point out from the top of my head were not addressed in any of the mods it received thus far

  • 00:30:196 (2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6) - This whole section was overmapped af in crystal's old extra diff and it's overmapped here as well, and for all the wrong reasons too. Not even spector-dg's mania topdiff's section is as overmapped as this one, and that's saying a lot. But enough comparisons, I'll get straight to the point: This section is also really, really overemphasized compared to more intense sections such as 00:19:509 - . When comparing the two together, the song says one thing but the map says the complete opposite, giving more emphasis to the second section than the more intense first section. So yeah, taking those two things into account, I'll give a few examples of where you went complete bonkers with the emphasis/overmapping so that you can either do a relatively big overhaul of this section's patterns or directly remap it as a whole.

  1. Starting from 00:30:009 - here 00:31:134 - up until here the only 1/4 sound that can be heard with a bit of difficulty is 00:30:477 - , but that's it. All 00:30:196 (2,3,1,2) - these 1/4 sliders are clearly overmapped without a clear reason since, as stated earlier, the section is noticeably calmer than the previous one and does not fit at all.
  2. The only clear 1/4 sounds from 00:31:134 - until 00:32:259 - are 00:31:227 - and 00:31:415 - so 00:31:696 (2,3,4) - these should be deleted and turned into 1/2 note formations instead.
  3. 00:33:009 - from here until 00:33:759 - here there are no clearly audible 1/4 sounds either, so 00:33:290 (2,4,6) - these should be deleted.
  4. 00:34:134 (3,4) - These should either be two circles or one 1/2 slider.
  5. 00:35:821 (4) - Ironically, this slider's distance from the previous note is really underemphasizing the high-pitched piano note it's covering. Perhaps it was something you forgot, since you can easily fix it by ctrl+h'ing both the slider and, if you don't wanna repattern the next 1/6 notes so that it connects properly, the rest of the map as well.
00:37:509 - From this section until 00:47:071 - the slider velocity is a bit too low and it makes the player need to stutter with the keys to catch the sliders's bodies properly without overshooting them, which is pretty offputting and uncomfortable IMO (Remarkably so with hyperdashes such as 00:44:196 (4,5) - these). I think you're better off just using 1x slider velocity up until 00:48:009 - here, place in which you can use 1,05x SV to make a fluid transition for the next section of the song (01:00:009 - )00:53:071 (2,3) - The distance between these two is a bit too much? I know you're trying to emphasize the strong vocal but either go for a straight-out hyper or try to make it a more lenient dash.01:16:696 (2,3,4) - Really overshootable, I suggest to make these a completely straight horizontal line formation pointing to the left instead.01:40:509 (1,2,3) - These shouldn't have hyperdashes in between each other, while 01:41:071 (4,5,6) - these should, since when comparing both three object formations, the latter is stronger than the former regarding sound intensity and pitch (and noticeably so).   2. 00:36:696 (6,1) - No need to be a cross-screen jump? I understand your intention but it seems to be too much for me
  3. 00:49:509 - to 00:57:009 - not only 1/4 jumps are worth being HDashes. Now you'd like to add HDash on such small emphasis (00:44:071 (2,3,4,5) - ) but refuse to do any emphasis on any of 1/2 jumps in the section I quote. It's unreasonable. You need to make sure that your distance arrangement corresponds to the music instead of only rhythm gaps.
  4. 01:00:009 - to 01:11:071 - , especially something like 01:05:634 (4,1) - , really need something other than general-distance jumps. You easily set HDashes on some overmapped 1/4 rhythms 01:11:259 (3,4,5,6) - after all.
  5. 02:13:134 (4,5,1,2,3,4) - this antiflow is highly unexpected. I don't see the intention to make 02:13:509 (1,2,3,4) - a strong dash chain right after a strong HDash on 02:13:321 (5,1) - , which increases the operation difficulty here to a level that doesn't fit the music. Music here is clearly going outro. Just decrease the distance of the whole dash chain. Same as 02:15:009 (1,2,3,4) -
  6. 01:31:134 (1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1) - make HDash distance increasing to fit the music more properly. Ofc, you should 01:31:134 (1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4) - make HDash on these jumps a bit shorter to achieve it.
  7. 01:36:571 (4,5,6) - Drums here are obviously heavier than 01:36:009 (1,2,3) - . So you should use something else stronger to make a difference.
Still the whole diff's speaking too strongly on rhythm gaps no longer than 1/4 beats in intro/outro imo. Probably need review beforehand.

Music here is clearly going outro. Just decrease the distance of the whole dash chain. Same as 02:15:009 (1,2,3,4) - replaced with a different normal pattern usage instead.

  1. 00:30:009 (1,2) - I'd reduce this distance a bit to add more leniency to the movement after the HDash. The sound at the red tick is rather weak.
  2. 01:19:884 (6,1) - The HDash here is totally uncalled for, as the sound on the red tick isn't strong.
  3. 01:28:134 (3,1) - The sound at the white tick is quite strong, so this distance is really underwhelming. An HDash to it would be really fitting.
  4. 01:32:196 (6,1,2) - The great contrast between the strength of both HDashes make the 2nd one a bit underwhelming. I suggest moving 01:32:071 (4,5,6) - a bit to the right to reduce the intensity of the first one while keeping the 2nd one intact.
  5. 01:34:134 (3,4,5,6,7,8) - You have to reduce the distance between this triplets. It's the strongest HDash by far in this section while the sound is not the strongest one, so its intensity feels out of place.
  6. 01:36:009 (1) - Having this as a 1/4 slider is overmapping it, as there's no sound on the blue tick. Replace it with a circle instead. Similar stuff on 01:37:321 (2) -, and this one is also burying a strong sound on the white tick in a slider tail. There's also no sound at the blue tick within 01:37:696 (3) -. The blue tick on 01:39:009 (1) - is also overmapped.
  7. 01:41:071 (4,5,6) - I'd move this a bit to the right to reduce the strength of the HDashes around this. The song is clearly decreasing in intensity by this part.
  8. 01:43:134 (6,7,8,9) - The HDash here should be to the big white tick, as that's the strongest sound.
  9. 01:46:415 (8,1) - I'd reduce the distance here to reduce the strength. It's an overall calm section so this feels a bit large.
  10. 01:46:509 (1,2,3,4,5,1,2) - The 1/2 dashes feel a bit large for a calm section like this, so I'd reduce their distance a bit.
  11. 01:49:321 (2,1) - The HDash here isn't really fitting, as it's a calm section. I'd reduce it to a normal dash.
  12. 01:50:821 (12) - The 1/4 HDash this creates doesn't fit the section. I'd replace it with a circle instead and have a 1/2 dash.
