I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but exactly why are hold sliders now unrankable? I've seen many cases where they're fun to play and add quality to the beatmap. D:

No. Halving the BPM there is only for slider speed reasons, and not because the actual bpm slows down.ouranhshc wrote:

Well, I'm wondering why what you quoted there is in place. Technically, hold sliders are 0.25x or even 0.125x, and I think it worked really well.Xgor wrote:

You are allowed though to use slider speeds in the same way as I did in ZUN - U.N. Owen Was Her? so you can't say it's not allowed at all, just not the old way that's allowed.
Because then people have to sacrifice higher slider speed to achieve 0.25x since the range would be 0.25x to 1.0x when you do thatpieguy1372 wrote:
Technically you can get around it by making the rest of the map 2x and making the hold sliders 0.5x, though, so that guideline can even be bypassed, so what was the point of putting it there? o.o

If you were wondering about the guideline, it was put in place so ppl do not add uninherited timing sections which can mess up the offset by +/-1ms and were not originally intended to be used to make custom slider speeds. There might be other reasons, but given my lack of knowledge of these issues, I will not comment about them.
Thirded then, I was going from memory :/ouranhshc wrote:

222/3 = 74 so yeah they are trying to achieve 0.33x?RandomJibberish wrote:

The BPM should be 222 all the way through.

Also, here's another thing I realized (but forgot to post). As long as the BPM you're using for the altered slider speed is a rational number, the timing won't go off at all, so why can't that be rankable? o_O
Besides the reason that Peppy said so (though this reason is enough most scenarios, including this one), the other reasons is that it screws up the pulse rate of the pulsating osu! logo and screws up the offset slightly (as I mentioned on the previous page).pieguy1372 wrote:
