[Archived] Can I play this game offline?

So, last night my internet went down for a few hours, so I wanted to play osu! because its one of the few games I have installed on my PC, but it said it was unable to connect and for that reason I was unable to play. Is there any way around it?

osu! version: 20170731.2

you can. but any of your score wont be uploaded

also make sure osu is not blocked by your firewall

Why couldn't I play last night then?

edit: its not blocked, I can play online normally.

how exactly? You cant open osu or play maps?
try running "repair osu!" from your osu directory.

Also on what version of osu are you now?

the game ran the updater, but it couldn't connect, so I couldn't play (the game wouldn't open, it said it couldn't connect and that I should try again later, if I'm not mistaken). The osu version is on the OP (20170731.2)

If you play on the Cutting Edge build, osu! will check & attempt to update every time the game launches.

However, closing the updater should allow for the game to launch and run, without updating.
