Hi, I would like to raise my concerns regarding the taiko difficulties of this set.

  1. 01:22:691 (51,52,53,54,55,56,57,58,59,60) - these finishes sound rather out of context in my opinion as the music there is rather calm and the pace is just similar to the previous kiai. Mapping all of them as big notes would be overwhelming and result in over-emphasis. If you want to emphasize the exceptionally strong vocal, 01:24:545 (60) - is the most reasonable one to be mapped with a big note. Here is an example: (cursor at 01:23:702 - while 63 being K)
  2. From 02:08:197 to 02:18:983 - as this section is relatively calmer compared to the rest of the song, you may shorten the length of 1/4 (actually 1/2) patterns. This would also fit the note density of the same section in Muzukashii well by doing so. 02:10:051 (140) - 02:12:747 (152) - 02:14:433 (160) - 02:15:444 (165) and 02:17:129 (173) - could be deleted to achieve such a purpose.
  3. 02:51:680 (147,148,149) - similar to 01:22:691 (51,52,53,54,55,56,57,58,59,60) - , finish could be removed.
  4. 03:11:736 (152,153,154,155,156,157,158,159,160,161,162,163,164,165,166) - this one is optional. You may consider slightly simplifying this 1/8 (actually 1/4) pattern as the background instruments are far less intense than that.
  5. From 03:25:050 to 03:29:432 - the finish spam here is quite awkward and does not merge well with the upcoming session due to over-emphasis. What you did in Muzukashii is about right, so I would suggest a pattern reform like this to reduce the use of big notes: (cursor at 03:27:073 - while captured odds are big notes except 40-46 being DkD KdK d)
The same applies to Muzukashii when indicated. I am willing to provide additional modding subsequently to follow through.

    Call this a bad reason/habit, but the exaggerated vocal is what brings me to map this in a sort of finisher-heavy "TnT-authentic" way. Along with that, I like it this way to differentiate the two kinds of vocals.

    While your suggestion is nice, I didn't want this part of the song to be too boring. The patterns you suggest almost get simpler than the part with only k notes, and I don't think they're of the same intensity. With longer patterns, I can improvise in a way that, in my opinion, fits the cadence of the song.

    I like the idea of "final chorus leads into quiet" being a bit dramatic in its transition. I didn't want make the stream too complex for reasons like the ones you described, and I think that's enough.

    Again, "blah im inspired by authentic practice" might sound iffy, but using finishers this way to provide a very distinct variety in the structure of the notes (instead of some simple patterns or something) also allows me to give it much more emphasis to a rather convivial-sounding part of the song that I'd find unsatisfying to see mapped "normally".

I thought the finish usage was quite satisfying to hit, and complemented the song quite well. What I really aimed for with my difficulties was a mapping style that would be fun to play, not just a typical, bland but objectively "fine" map for a typical song. This clearly isn't a typical song, it will get a lot of plays, so I'm glad the Taiko difficulties reflected my philosophy as well as they did.

I think Ozzy sums up the concerns very well. I would agree to them, and I know the other Taiko BN's associated with this set (there are 5 of us total, and a 6th if we ever needed more opinions) would all agree.

all i really have to say is “sigh”

using authetic styles doesn’t exactly give you an excuse for poor flow and interpretation and just because something might be “boring” doesn’t mean you overmap the living crap out of it. i personally like doppelgänger a lot better than the taiko on this, it’s just so poorly put together.
