For me it's so far been play less tbh. I play a lot (I played like, 5 hours each day for the last two days) but before this I had a 10 days break.
So basically, play less but play more.

My improvement happens like this:

  1. find a comfortable SR
  2. play a lot, fc a lot - gain huge amounts of pp
  3. go down the list by difficulty
  4. start getting As and sometimes B
  5. stop gaining pp, no matter how hard I try around my comfort zone I get 1 fc per 30+ maps tried
  6. play maps that are around 0.5+* above my comfort zone
  7. rest for a week or two (minimum three days)
  8. come back, start on highest comfortable SR before rest
  9. go back to #1 on list
So what i wanted to say was, everyone has different methods, you should probably find your own. It is alright to take other's advice too and apply it to your strategy, but find your personalized one.

Mine is quite entertaining as you can literally see this progress on my pp graph. Every plateau is a rest taken. If you see my historical amount of plays graph, you guys can see I actually play less over time but I'm making more progress than ever.

I used to just play more and more until I could not fc anything despite playing a lot of maps and feeling like shit. Now if I can't fc anything, I rest, I come back, I improve. This is a really weird method because I barely play anything but it works for me.

Any weird methods you guys have, feel free to share

1. +HD
2. Where is my motivation?
3. Find a real job
4. Work 8 hours
5. Go back home
6. Turn on osu
7. +HD
8. Kernel Panic: Motivation not found!
9. Kernel Panic: Brain don't give a single fuck!
10. ???
11. Profit

TL;DR: When I am tired mentaly, I don't care about anything, I don't tilt, I just click circles to relax after work. Improvement comes along the way. Motivation not needed.

1. Play gamemode for a while
2. Once improvement seems to have come to a halt switch to different gamemode
3. Play new gamemode until same thing happens
4. Keep cycling gamemodes like this so that I never get too frustrated and can keep steadily improving
5. Profit

My method?

1. Download every ranked map in the game
2. Group by rank achieved, sort by length
3. Play every map

I've started playing so much more than I ever have. I can play up to eight hours every day I'm not at work without getting bored.
Thirty30
1) Turn on laptop
2) Log in and load up osu!
3) Play a map
4) Spam retry until satisfaction is achieved
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 for a while with different maps
6) Play with mods
7) Sit and play until I have schoolwork to do

does it really matter playing more is always involved in improving
osu is not a complicated game at all, you basically only have to click circles more accurately, no need to overthink and theorycraft blablabla like it's chess or smth

i don't really have a solid way to improve, what i do is just play songs that i am not quite comfortable with, my comfort zone is in 4-4.5 songs so i usually push myself to play some 5 star map, sometimes those 4 star will seems so much easier just after i practiced in 5 stars

it's called types of maps and types of patterns and types of skills and bla bla bla many different events all over the place even if everything besides "you have to click circles" is increasingly vague

choose what to play, maybe choose why you play it, maybe consider your skills every once in a while or think about what you want to achieve.

is that really overthinking to you, is that really something complicated?

if i look around to see if there is toilet paper in the toilet before i sit down to take a shit, am i overthinking?

developing your own thought process for everything is inevitable, you can't avoid it at all. you literally just laid out yours by questioning the thought process of others. you didn't avoid it.

1) Check if I have a good day (motivation).
2) If not, enjoy the game playing easy enjoyable maps.
3) If it's a good day, farm the hell out of maps.
Genjuro
I never tried to specifically improve in a specific aspect, I always did everything the game had to offer (this includes other game-modes, mapping etc.) So I was always average at most stuff (but on some skills like low ar, alternating, technical maps etc. I was usually better than others around my rank since no one bothers to play these) What i have noticed is that i usually try to improve my score on a specific map, so i will just play that map every day and i will almost certainly always improve my score on the specific map. If the map contains something that I can't play (not mechanically) i will look at it in the editor. Learning a pattern in a specific map will help you when you play a different map that contains the same pattern

What is suspicious in it for you?
Elaborate because so far from my observation of his top ranks, he did it by shooting random 2-3 top scores on farm maps each day. Not a big thing tbh.
