I have difficulty defining what is a average osu player. Is it his rank, his pp, his accuracy or the difficulty of the maps he plays? I know I'm probably not even close to being average since my acc sucks, but for example I have friends which are rank 80-90k playing only hards and light insanes, and I play insanes / some extras and I'm rank 250k (keep in mind I have a 89% average acc).

Technically there are over 10million accounts and if you are rank 250k you are much above mathematical average.
That being said nowhere close to 10 million are active or even currently ranked.
A really stupid method that could be used to determine the average active player would be to hit F8, sort by rank, take the scroll bar and go halfway down and there you go that's the average player.

You are either in top 1000 and considered as good player or less than top 1000 and considered as bad player. There is nothing between.

IMO an average player in this game is capable to FC stuffs between 4* to 4.5*~5* consistently with good (97%+) accuracy
but tbh the question itself is really subjective

Well this thing varies on each different users perspective. First what do I consider special players? they are those players who are ranked higher than me and can do better than me, GMTs, Cookezi, ExGon, and others who has like a name cemented/known on each different field. So the other users who doesn't fall into this category is what I call the "average" ones. Still it will depend on what a person will see or consider.
