Ranked Score is the main metric of osu!, which gives you your rank in the online score charts. It consists of the highest passing score you have achieved in each beatmap set. This means that if you play both Normal and Hard difficulties of the same beatmap set (one .osz file), only your highest scoring difficulty will be included.My english is not that good. Lets give an example. I play one map with two difficultys. One normal and insane. The normal one gives 3.000.000 ranked score and the insane one gives 15.000.000. I pass both with full combo, so 3.000.000 and 15.000.000. How much ranked score do I get?

You will only get the highest score in a mapset, so in this case you will get 15.000.000 ranked score.
However if you pass the normal with 3.000.000 and then insane with 2.500.000, you will get the 3.000.000 score.

Here's an example. I have the following scores on three maps:
BRANDY - The Festival of Ghosts 2
Relaxing : 3,000,000
DaRRi MIx : 5,000,000
ZZ - Samurai Blue
Easy : 500,000
Normal : 1,000,000
Hard : no score
Matchbox 20 - How Far We've Come
Normal : 2,000,000
Hard : 1,500,000
My total best score from each beatmap set is 5,000,000 + 1,000,000 + 2,000,000 = 8,000,000, which is my ranked score.
Also, approved maps do NOT count towards your ranked score. Approved maps are distinguished by having the "flame" icon instead of the "heart" icon
