This question came to mind when I came across https://osu.ppy.sh/s/243485. I sort of knew what I was getting into when I saw it was Venetian Snares, but I got blown away near the 80% mark on the map. I'm astounded that something this complex could lurk under a 4.90 Srating. So my question is, if you could rank map types from easiest to most difficult for you to play, what you would order them in?
This list is purely of my own opinion, as a rank 76k(atm) nub.
Starting off small with TV sized maps that don't differentiate from similar patterns, even up to higher star ratings just having higher AR, OD and longer and longer jumps.
Then next up with what I would say are DnB maps, basically any song by with Veela, things like https://osu.ppy.sh/s/198820 [Lumiere] or https://osu.ppy.sh/s/227949 These get more complicated and difficult for me so I'd put them here.
Next in line are technical maps for me, because even below 5* I can still consider maps quite "technical" but not too hard for me to beat. As you go further up the rating, they obviously get fucking nuts with maps like https://osu.ppy.sh/s/463479 at an astoundingly inaccurate Srating of 5.8 or god tier stuff at https://osu.ppy.sh/s/517474 with 0 FCs.
These next map types are maps that require a lot of alternating at a lower bpm, normally 140 or below. I can't play pretty much any of these map types, very notable examples include https://osu.ppy.sh/s/409397 [Blackout] and basically any version of https://osu.ppy.sh/s/403282 I rank these as being harder then technical maps, because I can do fine on a 5.3* technical map with practice, but cannot complete even the simplest of maps that require constant alternating.
What I would consider at a tie with technical maps (at higher star ratings) and alternating maps, are maps like https://osu.ppy.sh/s/319890 or https://osu.ppy.sh/s/212180 or basically any goreshit song ever. These boggle my mind at how people can keep up with them. I play maps that are like these at 4.5* and that's it, no higher or my brain just cannot handle the sheer amount of things going on.
Special mention goes to https://osu.ppy.sh/s/137377 because I don't know what the fuck that is supposed to be classified as.
So how do you people rank these map types from easiest to most difficult for you?
