18:58 HibikiDesu: hello
18:58 Doormat: hi hi
18:58 HibikiDesu: hey i have a quick favor to ask you
18:58 Doormat: shoot
18:58 HibikiDesu: would you mind checking out my map? you dont have to do a mod or anything, jsut simple tips and stuff
18:58 *HibikiDesu is listening to [https://osu.ppy.sh/b/1200331 nameless - SLoWMoTIoN]
18:59 HibikiDesu: this is the first map i feel proud of and stuff, but its still not perfect
18:59 HibikiDesu: and i want to know how to make it better and improve my later maps
19:00 Doormat: hmm
19:00 Doormat: some consistency at the beginning of the verse would be nice
19:00 HibikiDesu: which verse?
19:00 Doormat: for example 00:25:597 (1) - 00:26:909 (4) - 00:28:597 (3,4) - 00:30:097 (3,4) -
19:00 HibikiDesu: like the opening section of the song?
19:00 HibikiDesu: oh
19:00 Doormat: those all have the same drum beats
19:00 Doormat: but they're all different except for the last two
19:01 HibikiDesu: oh yeah i think somebody told me about those and i was meaning to fix it
19:01 HibikiDesu: but yeah, ive since learned more about consistency since i finished this
19:01 HibikiDesu: i need to work on my hitsounding as well in general i think
19:03 Doormat: 01:22:597 (1,2,1,2,1,2) - feels a bit undermapped in my opinion
19:03 Doormat: don't worry about hitsounding for now
19:04 HibikiDesu: at that place i was using large spacing and 1-2 combos to emphasize the drum hits and to help conclude the section of the music
19:04 HibikiDesu: if that makes any sense
19:04 Doormat: you should also be a bit more wary with your slider velocities
19:05 HibikiDesu: too many sv changes?
19:05 Doormat: not too many
19:05 Doormat: it's more like
19:05 Doormat: try to avoid making your 1/1 sliders and 1/2 sliders nearly identical
19:05 HibikiDesu: ok
19:05 Doormat: it can really screw with player perception if it's done too much
19:05 Doormat: for example 01:24:284 (1,1) -
19:06 HibikiDesu: quick thing btw, first half was mapped like weeks before second half because i got lazy
19:06 Doormat: that being said it's not a bad map
19:06 HibikiDesu: and i know more now
19:06 HibikiDesu: that would make it easier to read right?
19:06 HibikiDesu: so like changing the first slider to a straight one
19:06 HibikiDesu: since its different than to usual curved ones?
19:06 HibikiDesu: and using straight sliders on similar slow sliders
19:06 Doormat: yeah, that would make it more easier to read
19:07 HibikiDesu: alright
19:07 HibikiDesu: i am starting to be able to see my own problems now just looking back at it only a week after i finished it
19:07 Doormat: i also think that the section at 02:13:597 (1) - is pretty undermapped
19:07 Doormat: like yeah, it has the same drum beats as the section at 00:49:597 (1) -
19:08 Doormat: but the guitar is slightly more intense so seeing the same intensity is kind of off putting
19:08 Doormat: then again it's up to you, just giving my opinions
19:08 HibikiDesu: hmm i see your point
19:08 HibikiDesu: ill see if i can do anything with it
19:08 Doormat: 02:37:597 (1) - i don't think this slider is a good fit since it doesn't really land on any of the musical beats
19:09 HibikiDesu: yeah i see
19:10 HibikiDesu: i think i could make it 2 1/2 sliders
19:10 HibikiDesu: to map the drum hits
19:10 HibikiDesu: right?
19:10 Doormat: 03:16:597 (1) -you're better off putting a stream here
19:10 Doormat: and yeah you could make it 2 1/2 sliders
19:10 Doormat: 03:21:097 (1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2) - this is a neat idea
19:10 Doormat: you know what would make it neater?
19:10 HibikiDesu: what?
19:10 Doormat: if the slider velocity for each (1) got slightly faster than the previous one
19:11 Doormat: to show the increase in pitch
19:11 HibikiDesu: like how much faster?
19:11 Doormat: that's up to you
19:11 HibikiDesu: a couple tenths?
19:11 HibikiDesu: ill mess with it
19:11 HibikiDesu: thanks for the idea
19:11 Doormat: the first one is at 0.63
19:11 HibikiDesu: also should i get a silent hitsound for the slider ends?
19:11 HibikiDesu: or at least a different one than the slider starts?
19:12 Doormat: so maybe something like 0.63 -> 0.8 -> 1.0 -> 1.2 or something as an example
19:12 Doormat: and i wouldn't recommend using a silencing hitsound
19:12 Doormat: since those are actually unrankable
19:12 HibikiDesu: oh i see
19:12 Doormat: create a green timing point and dampen the volume to 5% if you really want to silence slider ends
19:12 Doormat: remember to increase the volume back to normal for the next note though
19:14 HibikiDesu: yeah i know
19:14 HibikiDesu: also i just added some whitsle hitsounds to the slider starts
19:14 HibikiDesu: it already sounds better to me so i think ill leave it for now
19:16 Doormat: but yeah you should really work on the slider velocity thing
19:17 Doormat: because right now the mix between 0.63 and 1.25 is pretty confusing
19:17 HibikiDesu: alright thank you
19:17 Doormat: np np
19:17 Doormat: back to work for me
19:17 HibikiDesu: gl
