Don't bite off more than you can chew. Start at a difficulty that's easy and get an SS, S, or at least an A ranking. Work your way up to a [slightly] harder difficulty and do the same thing. Wash, rinse, repeat. You've got to build your way up to harder difficulties rather than tackle it all at once. Another thing I've noticed is using the Perfect mod; I've used it before and it helps me concentrate and not slack off on whatever map I'm playing.
Sure, practice won't make you perfect, but it really does help in the long run. There's no such thing as no improvement, but there's also no such thing as improvement that happens within seconds or minutes. It'll take time, but you will improve. I believe in you!
