HELLO! Mod for the Insane difficulty. 8-)

A lot of the things that bothered me were just sliders not being curved, or being too sharply curved. Some of the straight sliders I thought were fine though and went nicely with the music.

00:08:277 (4) - Curve here going down would look cleaner
00:15:152 (1) - Curve slider more towards the next note. Flows better with the song.
00:35:777 (4) - This slider seems a bit too high, I suggest moving it lower, then maybe curving it again towards the right
00:36:715 (8) - Also this slider would go well with the previous if it were curved towards it, like on opposite.
00:37:496 (3) - This part also feels like its a bit too high. Not a lot, just a litttttttlleee bit
00:48:902 (1) - Maybe move this slider a little more right, or curve it to the right? Both are good
00:59:527 (2) - Maybe move this note a little higher so it doesn't feel like a straight line? more bouncy
01:02:809 (1) - I would suggest another curve coming from the left, can't go wrong with curves sometimes ;)
01:04:527 (1) - This slider would look nice flipped over the previous one
01:15:621 (2) - Space this note a little more between these two notes
01:17:496 (1) - Slider feels way too high, maybe move it down and left a bit?
01:19:059 (1) - This curve would flow better if it were flipped upside down and maybe curving to the left
01:22:652 (1) - Maybe move this slider up a tiny bit?
01:32:652 (1) or 01:33:121 (2) - I think it would be nice if there were a curve on at least 1 of these
01:37:652 (1) - This would be nice with a big curve on it


All the sliders with sharp curves bugged be a bit, but feel free to ignore them. I just think the map had a nice smooth sound to it, so the jagged edges bothered me.

You're following the voice too much in this diff i think, this is not a bad thing but sometimes is really consfusing for a difficulty

    01:04:059 (2)(3) - The (3) stop as 1/2 red tick it's a bit confusing for beginners in my sense add a sliders here can make this easier
    01:14:996 (6) - Follow the vocal here is a mistake i think, you have a strong beat here 01:15:152 - that you can follow instead of the voice
    01:16:871 (9) - You're sliders end finish in a weird place i mean if you follow the vocal the slider should finish here 01:16:871 -

First of all, raise the OD/HP (or at least one of them) to 4.

Overall, a few sliders are better off being fully curved, and they have small inconsistencies in terms of curves. Note that I do like most of the pointy sliders! I especially like the short curved sliders (like 00:10:621 (2) and 00:16:246 (4) ), though I would recommend to make them symmetrically curved (or at least the same inequality in every short slider).

Examples
For example, I would prefer this one to be round:


While I feel like this one fits the song


  • 00:27:809 (1) - I'd change this slider in a more fluent slider
    01:05:777 (2) - Following the song it should be half a measure longer.
    01:07:652 (1) - This is a slider that follows the beat while all other circles/sliders follow vocals. For consistency I would change that. Not really the best way, but I made 'something' up
    01:10:621 (2,3,4,5,6) - This might be too demanding (not wrong, it does follow the song). At least, I feel like it flows better if you remove circle 2.
    01:30:934 (2,3,4,5) - With the circle size that you have chosen, this is rather busy. I know you can't have too much spacing, but maybe something like this: 01:39:059 (5) - Move the slider a little bit to the left.
Hopefully some points are useful. I liked your map and the song!

00:40:934 (2) - Maybe go for blanket with normal curve instead, there isn't anything in the music providing such an awkward shape out of no where
00:54:059 (4,5) - Maybe for aesthetic reason make these 2 curve about the same and then using the change rotation tool to make it kind of offset to make it look nicer

The SV is kind of high for a hard, especially because of the step up from normal which is 1.1 to 1.6 while the later diffs only increase by 0.1, you probably wont like what i am about to say, but really do consider changing it.
Might also help with the spread after change so that the SR isnt as high for that hard, I mean only 0.04 more and it'd be an insane

There's a bunch of stuff you could do to make it look neater, even minor things like making a triangle out of 00:06:559 (3,4,1) - , the tails and the head of (1).
    2. 00:49:371 (6,1,6) - Using sharp angles on shorter sliders will often make them look very cramped, and it's something you'd usually want to avoid.
    3. Some other patterns also look a bit strange, even directing a slider weirdly or not using the same shape can make it look odd, so the best thing to do is to just to keep as consistent as possible while reflecting the song.

      Anyway, aesthetics could use some work in my opinion. Not too important right now, but I'd like you to at least know of it for your future maps. Try using techniques like symmetry, parallelity, geometrical shapes, etc. more, anything that will make people notice that you tried making it look neat.
  4. 00:05:309 (1,2) - Speaking of this pattern, try moving (1) further to the left in order to get a similar flow to the others in this pattern.

    3. 00:16:246 - This is meant to be a clap, following the previous pattern.

      Overall I think hitsounding could use more consistency. This way your hitsounds will actually form a pattern, in accordance to the song. So for example if I place a finish on a cymbal crash in the song, then I'd often do the same for whenever a cymbal crash is heard again. The more you try to differentiate feedback to reflect the song, the better. So parts like 00:19:371 - and 00:19:996 - may not want to be the same hitsounds, for example.
  8. 01:17:652 - I'd suggest you to make this clickable, in order to reflect what the song is doing. You'll also be able to NC precisely as well as hitsound a finish on it by doing this. Try a rhythm like this. 01:17:496 - isn't as important as 01:17:652 - in this case, since the vocal is mostly idle anyway.
  9. Speaking of rhythm: Sounds which are relatively weak in comparison with the next sound, for example 01:11:402 - , should preferably be slider ends, in my opinion. This way you'll cover the sound, yet the emphasis will actually be placed on the stronger sound by forcing a brief lift. By only using circles, it'll get really monotonous, and it's especially noticeable around 01:15:777 (2,3,4,5,6) - .

Personally I'd have tried making 00:07:184 - lower SV than 00:05:934 (3) - in accordance to the pitch of the piano. Would become a nice transition into 00:07:809 (1,2,3) - as well.
  11. The way some objects have variable spacing, 00:13:434 (3,4,5,6) - 00:10:934 (3,4,5,6) - , makes 00:16:871 (2,3,4) - a bit hard to read. You could make (3) and (4) into 1/2 sliders instead, in order to cover 00:17:184 - and 00:17:496 - , for instance. Then to emphasize then you'd use some unique shape or pattern, for example like this. By using sliders you'll also force the player to move their cursor faster between the notes, making it feel more intense.

Been noticing it for a while now, but a lot of the objects that are supposed to be parallel aren't completely parallel, for example 00:47:184 (4,5) - 00:50:777 (4,5) - , etc. but then at other parts they're fine 00:49:684 (4,5) - 00:55:621 (2,3) - . When making objects like this, consider using copy pasting and the flipping, or ctrl+g, shortcuts to make it perfectly parallel.
  13. 01:02:652 (6) - The section is building up and this is also a different instrument compared to 01:01:871 (2,3,5) - , so I'd suggest you place some emphasis on it. Try spacing this a bit further from 01:02:496 (5) - , for example.
  14. 01:06:559 - These hitsounds are intruding on the song a bit here. I'd have simply remove the hitsounds like the song is suggests here.
  15. 01:17:262 - Considering the amount of spacing you have, adding some difficulty through a stream here wouldn't be a problem. (psst, it'll give more pp if you have one or two longer note streams in the map as well)

  16. 01:19:605 - 01:20:855 - I was going to mention this, but then I realized this is still insane, so I went on to look at the extra instead and noticed something more important, so I will switch to that diff.

  17. Looking very briefly at this, I can tell that you're trying to emphasize the vocals above anything else. It can work, yes, but not to this degree. You're essentially ignoring half of the song by not mapping the drums or any other instruments, and it gets really awkward to play because of this. Triples like 01:13:902 (6,7,1) - and 01:17:027 (3,4,5) - 01:18:434 (4,5,6) - should not exist when 01:14:605 - 01:17:262 - 01:17:418 - are completely skipped over. This isn't even overmapping, since you're not mapping all that you can. All this is, is not following the song properly. Some sections are also inconsistent in this regard, for example 01:20:777 (3,4,5) - compared to 01:19:527 (3) - and 01:27:574 - with 01:27:418 - etc.

    Rhythm could really use some work here. I'd highly recommend you to reconsider the way instruments are prioritized and the way triples and streams are arranged in accordance to the song in this difficulty.

I wouldn't blame you if you'd like to keep it though, decisions like these are all completely up to the mapper, after all. Whether those decisions would provide for a "quality map" is another question though.
  19. Also consider changing the HP up 7, as it was with the previous difficulty, Extra. Either that or changing Extra's HP accordingly. See no reason to make a more challenging difficulty easier than the previous.
