Nice map

Normal is great, although Insane feels monotonous. There weren't much interesting patterns that would really make me think that this map is worth considering unique.

00:01:902 (1,2) - Watch your DS (Distance Snap!) This is just a Normal difficulty, and this DS for 1/4's is not rankable.
00:14:439 (1) - I just don't feel like these 1/4's play good. Although they're fine as long as they're consistent. By the way, I'm not sure if 1/4's are even rankable in Normal difficulties, so you might want to check that out. :shock:
I think you'd be better off naming this as "Advanced" for the 1/4's

00:32:349 - Okay, I'm not modding this.

Insane
00:15:558 (5,6,7) - Patterns like this throughout the map just felt empty and mapped only for the sake of mapping it out. Try to add some twists to them. After all, this isn't an Easy diff where everything must be exactly consistent in terms of DS. Try making some equilateral triangles, or squares. Be creative and don't just map lines.
00:26:305 (3,4,5,1) - http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6060467 This is an example.
00:32:349 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - You can make your flow feel better by circling them out a bit, and also giving some twists while at it. Like some jumps. 00:53:618 (10,1) - These are too far. Especially when you compare it to previous patters. Just reduce the DS by 25-40% and you're golden.

03:17:125 (1) - I think you just overlapped things too much that this one's already covered and it's not nice. Try to move them somewhere else.
The maps are fine. They just need fixes.

Be creative and don't just map lines. the lined up patterns fit the monotonous 3-beat sound in the music quite well. furthermore its the beginning of the song and i want to keep it simple
00:26:305 (3,4,5,1) - http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6060467 This is an example. that looks nice to me, i gonna copy that. its okay that the last pattern of that section is a little bit more advanced

Just reduce the DS by 25-40% and you're golden. that's a tricky one: technically you're right and my consistency policy would not allow that, but if you take 00:53:618 (10) - as a single circle the DS would be 2.3x which is consistent with all DS increases in the map. furthermore i did that also consistently (as far as i know and intended xD)
01:02:349 (4,5,1) - http://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6060500 I think it would look better this way. Try to apply the same concept in the same part in similar patterns. I really do like that suggestion, but sadly it would be too overdone since the 1/4 spacing for that would be way too high

Not gonna mess with general stuff like tags and etc since you're still finishing the mapset, so i'll just mod the insane as requested <3
[Insane]

  1. 00:15:558 (1) - ,00:17:349 (5) -, 00:19:140 (5) -, 00:20:931 (5) - and etc etc... - NC for a better readability since the rythm changed kinda abruptly ? o:
  2. 00:47:573 (7) -, 00:49:364 (7) -,00:52:946 (7) - delete these notes for a bit more of rythm loyalty to the song ? o: ( I'm assuming you made the structure change because of the keyboard sound), another good options that would still have the same loyalty but with a different structure would be to make a 1/2 slider on 00:47:461 (6) - and on the same notes of the other patterns
  3. 00:50:931 (5,6,7,8,9) - even if you do not agree with the suggestion above ^, this stream is playing really awkwardly/bad for reading and rythm, it's fitting that much >3< if you still want to keep the streaming thing, I highly suggest you make a better placement of notes ( but if you do apply the previous suggestion, leaving the doubles stacked ''could work'', but keep a heads up)
  4. 01:27:648 (4,1) - the other overlaps were sexy and all, and I also understand the concept you want to use on this map. But I think this overlap isn't good as the other due to the flow of this section, I suggest you make them less overlaped (at least a bit similar to 01:34:812 (4,1) - , I still suggest you make both less overlaped, but in case you do not agree, make the first one more similar to this one I just linked)
  5. 01:50:931 (6,1) - Move them a bit below like This for example? would make a good blanket with 01:50:484 (4) - , and still have an instinctive motion for 01:50:260 (3,4,5,6) -
  6. 02:06:379 (2,3,4,5) - this motion is a bit too linear with a bit gap in middle of the notes...and they're 4 singletaps, this plays more forced than it looks like, I would suggest creating a bigger angle from 02:06:379 (2,3) - to 02:06:827 (4,5) - by simply making a small rotation on them or any other option you feel like
  7. 02:11:976 (4) - maybe place it 240|104 ? so his position would fit in the curve from 02:12:648 (1) - like This and giving a way more polished pattern :3

    So, after this : 02:12:648 (1) - . I assume you wanted to make the curves synchronize with the notes from the violin ? If that's the case, read below...If that wasn't your intention and it just happened sometimes by a beautifull and amazing coincidence, you're free to ignore the next suggestions:
  8. 02:16:230 (1) - the red points of this slider aren't synchronized with the notes of the violin by few miliseconds, but it's noticeable, I suggest you spend a bit more of time to match them...the sliderball should make a curve at these points : 02:16:678 - , 02:16:902 - , 02:17:125 - and 02:17:573 - (although this last one, following the previous slider logics, is ok to ignore and not make a curve).
  9. 02:19:812 (1) - The third red point isn't sync by few miliseconds, he should've make the curve at 02:20:708 -
  10. 02:23:394 (1) - The third red point isn't synced also, he should've make the curve at 02:25:066 -
  11. 02:25:185 (2) - The first red point is making the curve earlier than it should, the curve should be at 02:26:081 - (by applying this, adjust the other 2 points a bit to sync them aswell)

  12. 02:44:887 (1) - I would suggest you space this one more, these stacks work, but you have another 1/1 pause with 02:45:334 (2) - , imo the 3 1/1 stack didn't fit that well here, maybe space the 2 first ones more and leave only the last 2 stacked ?
  13. 03:17:125 (1) - the overlapping structure you've been using so far were focusing the most overlapped part on the end of the previous slider, but here is way more up to the middle/start of it, adjust his direction to keep the consistent logic of the entire section like the others ?
  14. 03:37:722 (3,4) - musically speaking, here's a second variation...the first one was at 03:36:379 (4,1,2) - where you did good, but the notes I just linked is placed like it was the commom rotation of the song, which is not, these notes have a different sound from the usual, so I suggest you make a variation here too, maybe increasing the DS a little putting an angles ''mini'' jump, or idk, anything you feel like :D

But i changed emphasis at 03:31:454 (1) - to the violin (thats why there's a finish hs). I definetly need to remember this and consider that with other mods

I see no reason not to give kudo since especially in the slow part you had a huge influence (although you didnt mention that much you had a huge influence, and thats what kudos are about imo?) But i leave it just like that, so i make definetly no mistake by giving kudo.

General remarks
It's mapped very well: spacing, overlapping, sliders shape. But even with that, some moments (like 01:36:363(3,4,1)) makes map hard readeble. Just check how it will look: delete circle 01:36:587(4), remove slider from 01:36:811(1) to 01:36:587 and add reverse arrow. Seems more logical and easy readable for me.

Here is some moments with new combo
At the intro part NC should be placed like this:
  1. 00:01:214(3) - add NC, 00:01:886(1) - remove NC
  2. 00:03:005(3) - add NC, 00:03:677(1) - remove NC
  3. 00:04:796(3) - add NC, 00:05:468(1) - remove NC
It seems more logical.

  1. Like we already discussed via IRC, you overused soft whistles way too much :P reduce them a bit
  2. Add some tags so it'll be easier to find. The genre will be "Instrumental" and "Electronic" so leave those two out. Anything that is related to that for example "trance", the instruments,.. you could add.
  3. The spinner is really loud at the end with 70% volume when playing 03:40:617 (1) - . Even more because the music is fading out here. Add a few timing points to gradually reduce the volume in all difficulties.

Even though this may be an Normal-Hard, the last KIAI has a really intense and long sequence of patterns with many many 1/2 sliders. Give the player a break to recover now and again by removing a circle here and there. It's literally one streak of patterns for 30 seconds that require a lot of endurance. In previous KIAIs you did that now and again 01:10:169 - here for example. A little break will also enhance the gameplay and the effect of the patterns by giving a brief moment of a break.

You try to intertwine or arrange your patterns so they match visually most of the time, making blankets etc, and this sometimes breaks your flow a bit. Just keep this in mind for future mapping. Here for example 00:06:587 (3,4,1) - 00:09:050 (1,2) - 00:52:706 (3,4) - / 00:47:333 (3,4,5) - and 00:50:915 (3,4,5) - by comparison, the second one is more fluent.


  • Appearance, Flow & Transition:
  1. 00:00:095 (1,2) - Could blanket patterns like that better. Super secret pro tip: Use the approach circle as guideline http://puu.sh/rjlcX/60b2fa7928.jpg You can do that throughout the difficulty to polish them up a bit more so it looks cleaner.

  1. Like we already discussed via IRC, you overused soft whistles way too much :P reduce them a bit ay
  2. Add some tags so it'll be easier to find. The genre will be "Instrumental" and "Electronic" so leave those two out. Anything that is related to that for example "trance", the instruments,.. you could add. okay
  3. The spinner is really loud at the end with 70% volume when playing 03:40:617 (1) - . Even more because the music is fading out here. Add a few timing points to gradually reduce the volume in all difficulties. changed

Even though this may be an Normal-Hard, the last KIAI has a really intense and long sequence of patterns with many many 1/2 sliders. Give the player a break to recover now and again by removing a circle here and there. It's literally one streak of patterns for 30 seconds that require a lot of endurance. In previous KIAIs you did that now and again 01:10:169 - here for example. A little break will also enhance the gameplay and the effect of the patterns by giving a brief moment of a break. yeah youre right, like the whole last kiai was kinda messy, I added the break being consistent to the first 2 kiai's and remade some patterns and polsihed blankets, also i made a 1/1 slider for 02:57:408 (1,1,1,1) - regarding to the other kiais and it also gives a kind of break time.

You try to intertwine or arrange your patterns so they match visually most of the time, making blankets etc, and this sometimes breaks your flow a bit. Just keep this in mind for future mapping. Here for example 00:06:587 (3,4,1) - 00:09:050 (1,2) - 00:52:706 (3,4) - / 00:47:333 (3,4,5) - and 00:50:915 (3,4,5) - by comparison, the second one is more fluent. hmm okay o: personally there isnt much of a flow error and it plays still very pleasantly. But i keep that in mind for future maps

  1. 00:00:095 (1,2) - Could blanket patterns like that better.   2. 00:39:945 (2,3,4) - 01:30:095 (2,3,4) - I love such arch patterns. I use them too ^w^
  3. 00:58:303 (2) - 2nd red slider point makes the shape of the slider really weird. Can you remove it? instead of the red anchor i made a white one with a pleasant curved 2nd sliderpart right into the next object
  4. 02:40:169 (3) - Don't recommend such sliders that are not 100% readable immediately. They also play really awkward. Space it out a bit for better gameplay and readability. http://puu.sh/rjlBV/e4a023cc95.jpg found a different shape that looks neater

What I liked: pointing out cursor movement errors (how to improve a pleasant cursor movement) like seriously I do that too on my own mods but you were the first i saw who focuses on that

There's one thing I'm concerned about before I'll start my mod from the Halcyon queue - I'm not sure if Easy/Advanced/Insane is an acceptable naming for a spread (It's basically an E/H/I spread, which is not allowed by current ruling.) The spread in-game makes use of 1/1 lengths (at the shortest) and 1/1 gaps only on the easy diff and 1/2 lengths and gaps and passive 1/4 gaps too on the advanced xd I don't feel that the spread is reasonable :p

Normal diff added. star ratio difference between Easy-Normal and Hard-Insane is a bit high regarding to Normal-Hard but the gameplay shows a decent spread imo (according to 1/1, 1/2 and 1/4 mapping).

If you can find a 1366x768 version of that background with google image search, I'd advice you to change it to that to optimize it as much as possible :D

(This is unnecessary, but remove widescreen support, since some people go like "There's no storyboard, plz remove widescreen support pl0x0rz thx", but in reality it makes no difference, but just do it anyway 'cause then they don't say it lol)

I feel like 6 combo colors is kinda excessive when you're not using colorhax. For the calm parts of the song, you can use gray-ish colors (like gray and a gray-ish purple), and for the kiai parts, you can go for a lot of fancy colors like the purple and blue etc you have atm (if you donno what I mean, I'll show you in-game xd)

No custom hitsounds? :( You can just add a simple custom clap instead of the default clap, even that would help a mile with making the hitsounding a bit more lively (Just pm me if you don't have one to use ^-^)

03:33:229 - If you listen to the music, the bpm seems to slow down a little bit near the end. I think you might need to add a timing point that is like 0,25 bpm slower or something (It's really obvious on the last few notes especially)

03:40:617 (1) - Make the volume reduction go on all the way till the ending of the spinner (aka spread out the volume points, 'cause the music still goes down near the end of it xd)

00:32:333 (1,2) - rhythmically this feels way too sudden, I'd do it like on 00:35:915 (1) -. Keep in mind that you're spreading the diff from a diff which is only 1/1 gaps, so having some breathing room does help lol

00:41:960 (2,3,4) - wrong emphasis because of 00:41:960 (2) - 's slider end. Singletap + 2 sliders is better than slider+single+slider in this scenario

00:45:542 (2) - D:

00:46:214 (4,2) - Too early to introduce perfect overlaps lol xd

(Expect this mod to nerf the diff a little bit, 'cause it's a little excessive with overlaps. Think about how you're progressing the player into the following diffs)

Generally, I'd advice you to add a little spacing to some of the emphasis parts like 00:24:721 (4,1) - (Basically give more spacing to the strongest big white ticks)
'cause this isn't an advanced anymore. It's a HARD :D (Make sure it's consistent and applies to the WHOLE song ^^)
(The last kiai is fine when it comes to increased spacing and density btw, I wouldn't change much there except for a few things xd)

03:39:497 (3,4) - Isn't intense enough for 2 single taps imo 01:57:408 (3,4,5) - or 01:14:423 (3,4,5) - or 03:18:005 (3,4,5) - etc. You already know

(Expect this mod to nerf the diff a little bit, 'cause it's a little excessive with overlaps. Think about how you're progressing the player into the following diffs)

Generally, I'd advice you to add a little spacing to some of the emphasis parts like 00:24:721 (4,1) - (Basically give more spacing to the strongest big white ticks)
'cause this isn't an advanced anymore. It's a HARD :D (Make sure it's consistent and applies to the WHOLE song ^^)
(The last kiai is fine when it comes to increased spacing and density btw, I wouldn't change much there except for a few things xd)


00:31:438 (1,2,3) - reverse would work better, and then add spacing from 00:32:333 (1) - with it ^^ That way the difficulty will be added in a different way (I also added an overlap (https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/6244248) chnaged

Don't really have anything to say except for some advice regarding normal diffs.
Here you tried to follow as many sounds as possible and that led you to mapping a lot of different rhythms. Variety is great, but it's a bit too much for a normal difficulty in my opinion. So you should try to only map the most important beats in low star difficulties. The rhythm choices you made here are pretty inconsistent overall and would be fit for a 3+ star map. Here are some examples of weird rhythm choices:

00:48:229 - (You followed every sound like this before)

01:10:393 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5,6) - this is a really good example of what should be done, simple patterns with few alternations between hitcircles and sliders

Now, the spread issue is real. I think you will increase base spacing in Hard diff in order avoid this strange gap between normal and hard. the point is that easy - normal - hard have clear differences in rhythm choices. Easy has the simple 1/1 snapping, Normal has 1/2 rhythm and Hard has the more advanced 1/4 rhythms which makes it for me a good spread despite the inconsistent sr. I will try to make Hard more harder with higher DS to get better along with the gap Hard->Insane.

*after 2h* I managed to buff Hard to 2.74 stars. i increased the base DS (what u suggested me) and put some more DS increases so it fits more as a Hard diff.
The spread is definetely better now, I hope now its an acceptable spread for everyone
