General :

  1. Audio file cannot be more than 192 bitrate so you have to change the audio file here you go i converted your file to 192 bitrate : mp3 file
  2. You can close letter box during breaks.
  3. I don't know why did you use that much red timing points some are has same offset and bpm don't use them unnessecary for any volume, custom hitsound,SV change or kiai times you can use unherited timing points (green timing point). Maybe find someone to check your timing i am not really good at it.

You are better off calling Insane, Extra and making a new insane. Definitely will consider. The current Insane diff does follow more Extra criteria than Insane. I'll keep it as is for now, and do another Insane if I get inspired.

Decided to make an Extra difficulty. Saves all the jumpy streamy good stuff from the former Insane. Name: Resounding Sorrow. Planning on making this much, much harder. Most of it will be rearranged circles. The new Insane will flow better and have some elements removed.

Will update later. Will edit when updated.

Edit: Beatmap updated. Holy shit, that took hours of clutchmapping.

Since I don't believe the map is near for ranking, my mod shall be a generalised one with comments on the overall mapping style.

[General]
  1. Timing: Fine :)
  2. Metadata: Remove 'in' from tags, it's a 2 letter word and is already in the title :P, add shanedro to tags.
  3. Folder: Clean
  4. Other: Your volume on hitsounds is really high, I would tone it down.

I would suggest a remap, the inconsistent distance snap is one thing, you need to keep it consistent for the new players to adjust. It is really jarring to have an inconsistent DS because they won't know when to go further and when not to. Another issue is the flow, it is generally inconsistent aswell and slider synergy isn't great either, I can see it has potential definitely, though. The slider velocity is extremely high for a difficulty of this standard which in turn boosts the DS making it abhorrently high.

To begin it, 00:13:353 (1) this isn't snapped. You appear to be following your own beat rather than the beat of the song.

You should use consistent sliders for an increased flow and better looks, it is courtesy to use these because it makes the map more fluid and enjoyable because it will increase flow, here are a few examples

00:14:853 (1,2,3) - Stacking like this creates a confusing experience for the players, they will not know how to deal with a complex look such as this, you basically do a slider, DS note then stack which they won't be able to comprehend very well.

00:17:853 (1) - I would curve this for a nice blanket :)

00:38:103 (2,3) - Blanket this for a nicer effect

00:46:354 (6,1) - This overlap isn't too great, it looks a little confusing to read and won't look too good in play.

00:51:040 (3) - What? It skips the downbeat and is totally random, players will fall on his hurdle for sure.

00:54:603 (1,2,1,2) - Keep consistent spacing on your sliders so that it plays better.

I would keep these in mind ^^^ as they appear frequently within your map and there is a lot to point out (no offence x.x)




To be honest, not much I can say in regards to the other difficulties, you need to take heed to my suggestions from the normal as it's pretty much the same throughout the whole difficulty.

I am pretty sure you've got a coupld of offsets wrong, like for example at 03:19:355 (1) - that whole section should be like 10-20 ms later (move red line 10-20 ms forward). I haven't checked the rest of the lines but you should check them at x0.25 speed.

Also what's up with the hitsounds? :) I hear none

New combos are kind of a mess, and rhythm could be improved in some parts! Nothing too serious though.
Actually now that I've modded like 2 minutes of this diff I can tell you that it has A LOT of rhythm issues. You should take a moment to analyze what you mapped and listen to the music - does it fit? is it necessary? - that kind of questions are the ones you should strive to answer.

00:13:359 (1,2) - This curve feels awkward, try curving (1) a bit more so it looks simillar to (2)
00:14:859 (1,2,3) - I /think/ this is way too complicated and confusing for the easiest diff of the mapset. I know it's within ranking criteria since it's 2 stars, but I suggest you re-think stuff like this, taking into account they will be played by beginners.
00:16:358 (5) - NC
00:17:859 (1) - Remove NC
00:19:359 (3) - NC
00:22:359 (7) - NC
00:17:859 (1) - Try adding a middle point and curving it upwards so it creates a blanket with (2)?
00:20:484 (4) - I'd try to avoid this stack, specially since you have another one before but faster than this one (1/2 instead of 1/1), which is incredibly confusing for beginners.
00:22:359 (7) - As a rule of thumb, you want to avoid more than 1 repeat on long sliders because nobody expects them. Not really necessary but I think it'd be a LOT better if it had only 1 repeat and then add a note or something.

You switched rhythm for no reason AND overmapped :(

00:54:609 (1,2,1,2,3,4,1,2,3) - This whole part is kind of a mess for the easiest diff of the mapset.. why wouldn't you keep mapping like before, with 1/1 and ocassional 1/2s?
00:59:484 (6,7) - Really unnecessary for the easiest diff.
01:01:359 (1) - Shouldn't this end at 01:02:859?
01:26:109 (2) - Extend it to the white tick
01:30:046 (3) - Make it start on the previous white tick and then extend it 1/2 more
01:43:359 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - What I mean is stuff like this. It looks fairly easy but it's actually complicated for a new player. I'd stick to 1/1 patterns with ocasional 1/2s.
01:51:234 (1,2,3) - This is unrankable, you need to have more space between (1) and the spinner.
01:59:109 (2) - Add note?
02:33:609 (3) - This is confusing because the way you put (3) and (4), makes it look like (3) has 2 repeats.
02:41:668 (3) - Add note...
02:52:355 (1,2) - Now it's quite the opposite of 02:33:609 (3) -, this looks like (3) of that pattern but it DOES have 2 repeats. Consistency please?
03:03:605 (4,5) - Same here
03:29:855 - Add note or slider here please
03:38:855 (8,9) - Move (9) somewhere else. Right now it looks like (8) has an additional repeat buit it does not.
03:40:355 (2,3,4,5) - Extremely confusing for new players. Two stacks but they are different - that is super hard to read for a new player. Make them both 1/2 or both 1/1 or just unstack them.

It's a really small thing but it's the little things like these that add up to make an uncomfortable map to play in the long run. By fixing these things your map will feel a lot better.

Actually now that I've modded like 2 minutes of this diff I can tell you that it has A LOT of rhythm issues. You should take a moment to analyze what you mapped and listen to the music - does it fit? is it necessary? - that kind of questions are the ones you should strive to answer. Currently working on a Normal overhaul. Thanks for the notes, I'll keep them in mind when testing. I'll keep your changes in mind, though I can't use all of them because it's a complete remap. Serious note time:
What a long and brutal mod. It hurt seeing everything wrong with the mapset, but that's exactly what I need. It took about two hours to make changes. I can't imagine how long it took you to write this mod, especially with images. Seriously, thank you so much. I'd give you twenty Kudosu if I could. I'll continue to go through the difficulties again, keeping your notes in mind.

Beatmap has not been updated yet. I still want to make some further changes, including finalizing the Normal remap.

You seem to put note randomly as well and not really fitting to the song, just like a "filler". Try to listen to the song more. Map according to the sound you hear from the song. For short sounds use circle, for long ones use slider and so on. Third; random hitsound... *sigh* I can't really explain this one xD Map while keeping this in mind; "this map should follow and cover the song nicely while at the same time looks nice and should be fun to play it so the players would like it." You seem to put note randomly as well and not really fitting to the song, just like a "filler". Try to listen to the song more. Map according to the sound you hear from the song. For short sounds use circle, for long ones use slider and so on. Third; random hitsound... *sigh* I can't really explain this one xD Map while keeping this in mind; "this map should follow and cover the song nicely while at the same time looks nice and should be fun to play it so the players would like it." Similarly with Snepif's mod (though to a lesser extent), this was a long and brutal mod. However, it did help me a lot in that I didn't know about some of the editor's functions (rotation and CTRL+G) as well as some eye candy in the map. Thanks for taking the time to write this, I learned a lot! :)

Map has not been updated. Still need to map some more in Normal and Hard difficulty (closing the gap between kiai and break).

Yeah, they look fine. But I think it would be better if you use dark blue and dark purple. And I don't know why but the red seems to be too stand out xD maybe try to give it a little (actually little) shade of blue :3

Hey~ M4M Queue. Apologies for the late response, IRL got in the way from most of my play time so I used the time I had to actually play and not map but here is my mod.

[Resounding Sorrow]

  • - General Statement: The jumps... I understand this is an Extra but they don't feel natural to me. Like unnecessary. I'm sure this isn't a problem in the ranking process but I guess it's personal taste. It was fun though, but weird in other parts.
    - General Statement: A lot... if not... all of your sliders are just straight. Maybe make some curvy. Just a suggestion
    - 00:32:488 (4) - Move to (X:268,Y:52). I feel this is a better jumping pattern than a simply back and forth motion.
    - 00:35:488 (4) - Move to around (X:40,Y:164). Another better jumping pattern I think.
    - 00:38:863 (5,6) - Prefer this either into a slider or remake the jumping pattern because right now it's... strange.
    - 00:45:988 (3) - Move to (X:280,Y:16) it's more centered between the two and looks better.
    - 00:50:300 (5) - Maybe make this a slider going upwards? I feel that makes it less of a hassle in terms of reading and fits decently. And it doesn't have to go upwards, just make it a slider anyway you want.
    - 00:51:425 (9) - Move to (X:264,Y:48) for a better jumping flow into the stream... my opinion this fits better
    - 00:53:301 (6,7) - Maybe make this a down slider?
    00:55:551 (1,2,3,4) - I have an... interesting idea for this part.. okay... so delete the (1) and make that a slider (you can do the placings anyway you want), then keep the (3) (which will now be 2) where it is and then make (3) a circle ontop of (4) as a slider... make sure the (3) directly ontop of the starting circle of (4)... so in total it will be (1) slider, (2) slider, (3) circle direction ontop of (4) slider... if you need help with this you can always PM me...

    - 00:50:300 (5) - Maybe make this a slider going upwards? I feel that makes it less of a hassle in terms of reading and fits decently. And it doesn't have to go upwards, just make it a slider anyway you want. This is intended. If it's unrankable, I'll change it.
    - 00:51:425 (9) - Move to (X:264,Y:48) for a better jumping flow into the stream... my opinion this fits betterDone
    - 00:53:301 (6,7) - Maybe make this a down slider? This is intended as well.
    00:55:551 (1,2,3,4) - I have an... interesting idea for this part.. okay... so delete the (1) and make that a slider (you can do the placings anyway you want), then keep the (3) (which will now be 2) where it is and then make (3) a circle ontop of (4) as a slider... make sure the (3) directly ontop of the starting circle of (4)... so in total it will be (1) slider, (2) slider, (3) circle direction ontop of (4) slider... if you need help with this you can always PM me...

Alright! So that's it with this difficulty. Some stuff I've covered here may be present around more areas of the map so I didn't talk about those but yeah... an interesting map... I'm sure with time and polish and modding it'll look a lot more profession. Right now you have some... strange spacings in places and weird jumps but those can be fixed. Also... NICE CHOICE OF SONG Thanks. :D I'll check the rest of the map.

Not really a mod, but I can't believe nobody noticed: change the bmp to 160 manually in the timing window, because now it is 159.999, not really a nice number ;)

I've DS'ed the notes that I feel needs DS-ing, and left all others as is. The map is intended to feel somewhat jagged. It's a song of pain and loss.

    00:54:426 (3,4,5,6) - Delete this part. It follows the drums so I'll keep it here
Note: Insane doesn't have to follow distance snapping. Normals need to 100%, and Hards are somewhere in between. The reason I chose to have some inconsistent distance snaps is because of the song (as noted at the top). They aren't drastically different in distance and are limited.

While varied spacing has become more popular throughout the years, it generally is done with purpose. There is often something in the music cueing spacing changes to happen, or a pattern that requires larger jumps. Additionally, spacing tends to not break the flow of a map by awkwardly pausing. That's what this does. There's no reason for me to suddenly drag slowly to the left, waiting for the next note, but I am, and it's making me very sad, because I was having fun moving around the map. But now I have no momentum, and the fun is gone. It's also hard to read, so I'm not sure when I should hit it.
00:18:613 (1,2,3) - Generally patterns like this tend to be done in slider(s), because it's hard to time out when to hit the middle note, especially when the pattern hasn't been prevelant before in the song
00:52:364 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Jumps. Jumps have goals, generally. A good jump pattern will be planned out so it either makes some sort of shape, or goes in some sort of naturally flowing direction. Like when maps have stars, that's because a mapper wants to have 5 notes that jump, for a specific purpose in a specific way, not just because it's a pretty shape. When you have patterns like this, try thinking of shapes that would make sense to look at, but make sense to play as well. Right now, it looks kind of random, and the flow seems pretty messed up.
01:01:364 (1) - Finish pls
01:25:363 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - Explain to me what this is
01:26:676 (7,1) - It's spacing like this that I especially want to emphasize. Why is it suddenly shorter here? As a player, I'd hit this note way too early, and I'd additionally have to be waiting awkwardly for it to appear. If you want an anti-jump (which i personally hate but ehhh), then make it more extreme. Otherwise, just space it normally so it's easy to read.

So I'm a believer in general statements, rather than long mods. So I'm going to stop the specifics here. What you need are a few things

1) Hitsounds. Your last kiai is golden. Claps on 2 and 4. Do that for the rest of the map.
2) Spacing. Think about it. Why are jumps happening? You don't jump just because it's an insane. You jump with purpose
3) Design. Your map should at least look like it has direction. A big problem people have with my maps is that I "Roadmap", aka. I don't make my maps very pattern-based. However, in that road that I make, there's still direction and flow. A lot of times, I'm not sure where the next few notes are going to be.

Those 3 things should help you get started on the right track. I'm happy to help via PM (or if you can somehow find me in-game :P) if you need any assistance making that happen.

These things apply to all diffs, so I'll leave the mods for the other diffs to just those 3 things I listed above. If you'd like more specifics, PM me and I'd be happy to help out. A good thing to help you make nicely informed decisions is to look at other maps. I haven't played osu! realistically since about 2011, but I look at maps all the time, and I see what I like and don't like in ranked maps. I see what gets me excited to play, and I see what makes me not so excited. Take stuff like that, and apply it to your own maps. Why does it work? Does your map do that? Does this thing WORK in your map?

It's a lot, and I'm sorry that a lot of my suggestions are really vague. I really don't want to make a giant post of "this is all that is wrong", but I'd like you to possibly fix things on your own with the guidance I am giving you.

00:15:425 (4,5) - Boring as fuck because you didn't emphasize this. I would stack 00:15:238 (3,4) and space 00:15:613 (5) to give that slider the emphasis it should have.

00:19:363 (1) - How come this is placed closer compared to the jumps at 00:18:238 (2,3,1,2,3)?

00:27:426 (6,7,8,9) - Inconsistent spacing. if you want to give 00:27:426 (6) more spacing, i would give it MORE spacing, this seem awkward to play and makes an ugly pattern.

[General]

Your map is very inconsistent with spacing. Please use Distance Snapping 1.0x - 1.5x for non jumps and 1.5x -2.0x for jumps. Make sure the jumps have repeating spacings and more spread sometimes.

One other important thing. Your map is actually WAY TOO SPACED. Try to give space to parts that need emphasis instead of using crazy high Distance Snapping for everything.

00:15:425 (4,5) - Boring as fuck because you didn't emphasize this. I would stack 00:15:238 (3,4) and space 00:15:613 (5) to give that slider the emphasis it should have.Read above. Used this change however.

00:19:363 (1) - How come this is placed closer compared to the jumps at 00:18:238 (2,3,1,2,3)?It makes 00:18:613 (1,2,3,1) easier to read and play since 00:18:894 (2) is on a blue tick.

00:27:426 (6,7,8,9) - Inconsistent spacing. if you want to give 00:27:426 (6) more spacing, i would give it MORE spacing, this seem awkward to play and makes an ugly pattern.Fixed pattern

00:30:613 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Too close to 00:30:426 (5). Harder to read.Done

Your map is very inconsistent with spacing. Please use Distance Snapping 1.0x - 1.5x for non jumps and 1.5x -2.0x for jumps. Make sure the jumps have repeating spacings and more spread sometimes. I use 1.4x for non-jumps and 0.7x for streams. The jumps use 1.8x, 1.9x and 2.0x depending on emphasis and I don't intend for all jumps to have the same distance. Normally I would use more spread, but the map is intended to be jagged, as the song is so (not by the music, but by the lyrics).

One other important thing. Your map is actually WAY TOO SPACED. Try to give space to parts that need emphasis instead of using crazy high Distance Snapping for everything.I did what you said, then you tell me not to do it? Make sure your mod doesn't contradict itself.

02:48:425 (1) - If you listen closely the drum makes a triplet similar to the place I marked at 01:31:363 (1) - , so this pattern could be changed if you wanted. and the place where you put the triplet: 02:48:800 (3,4,5) - , I don't think I even hear one there. so personally I think the pattern needs to be adjusted.

03:23:864 (1,2,3,4,5,1) - I think the pattern here should be more like because I hear a triplet from the drums starting at this circle: 03:24:425 (3) -

03:37:175 (4,1) - I say put a circle in between these so it is stacked on the slider like

To be honest, some of the earlier streams start spaced too close to the previous circle which feels a little out of place for the difficulty of the song. For example the one at 00:51:614 (1,2,3,4,5) - , but the problem is if you spaced it out more from the previous circle: 00:51:426 (11) - , then it might mess up the spacing for the rest of the section. I did my best ^_^

I looked over it again and I suggest that you get rid of the 3rd and 4th circles of that combo 00:29:863 (3,4) - , and put a slider where the 3 is under circles 1 & 2. Reason I think this is because the beat in relation to the spacing kind of makes that part confusing.

  1. All maps with Touhou as a source use the source "東方Project". I recall seeing this in some other thread and it turned out to be true when I looked it up myself. Using anything else as a source is probably unrankable.

Could change the name to "Lunatic" to fit better with the Touhou theme.

00:18:613 (1,2,3) - Could be more spaced out as it would be easier to read that they aren't 1/2.

00:20:863 (4) - New combo and move it further away from 00:20:300 (3)

00:30:145 (4,5) - Could be more spaced out to make it easier to read

00:35:863 (6) - Would sound better replaced by a 1/3 stream or maybe two return sliders like so

00:48:613 (2,3,4,5,6) - This stream should continue all the way to 00:49:363 (1)

00:50:675 (8,9) - Could connect this kind of awkward gap with a 1/1 slider starting on 8 ending on 9

00:51:614 (1,2,3,4,5) - Stream should continue till 00:52:364 (1)

00:53:676 (8,1) - Same as 00:50:675 (8,9)

00:55:550 (1,2,3,4) - These sliders end on strong beats. Strong beats should be either hit circles or starts of sliders. With sliders starting on proper beats now it would make for a sensible transition into this which would help bridge another awkward gap.
To add to all that, this triple 00:57:050 (5,6,7) really has no sound in the song to justify its usage. It's unnecessary and by forcing it you sacrifice this part 00:57:426 (1,2,3) which has a strong 1/4 sound to open space for a stream. With everything above changed it would comfortably lead into a stream
If you don't trust me you can try to map it like that for a second and listen to make sure it makes more sense music-wise

Changing 00:59:488 (3,4,5,1) to again, simply sounds much better to me and doesn't have sudden gaps that are awkward to play.

One big thing that bothers me is that kiai has ridiculously smaller spacing compared to the part just prior to it ( 01:25:363 to 01:49:364 -) which is actually calmer than kiai and the spacing difference should be the other way around.

02:40:550 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Since these jumps are getting larger and the beat is getting louder maybe they should start out from the middle? Just a suggestion

In my opinion the part between 02:43:364 and 03:07:363 could use some work. The streams are very well made in my opinions but honestly lots of the jumps seem messy and unpolished. Try using some different jump patterns and tidying the spacing up a bit (For example 02:49:364 (1) is a whole beat apart from 02:48:988 (5) but it's much closer to it than regular 1/2 jumps, not very intuitive to read)

Another suggestion, instead of 02:54:614 (6,7,1) you could possibly put a slider like this.
You can make it somewhat distorted to reflect the guitar sound ( Something like 03:29:864 (4) in hard diff) + It would make for a good transition into the more intense part of the song.

03:24:988 to 03:28:175 You could use sliders instead since it is a very calm part and jumps needlessly stress every beat.

03:54:050 (7,8,9,10) - You could increase the spacing here since the beats are pretty strong; and on the contrary 03:55:364 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) could use smaller spacing, as well as 03:58:363 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) since the beats aren't that strong

00:53:487 (6,7,8) - Should be spaced out more because they are a whole beat apart yet they are still just as close as everything else

00:57:425 (2,3) - Could replace this with 01:36:613 (6,7)

01:42:050 (1,2) - Same as above

01:48:426 (2,3) - Same as above

02:36:614 (7,8) - Stack

  3. 01:57:613 (2,3) - Maybe reduce the repeat count by one, because they're really far apart or just put them closer together so it's more intuitive to figure out the timing on them. 02:33:614 (1,2) - These two are kind of the same but they actually work well.
  4. 03:36:614 (1,2,3,4) - Select all of these and CTRL+G them, I think it plays much much better
  5. 04:14:863 (1) - Perhaps add another slider for a short break in here, this stream is quite long
I don't really have much complaints about the Insane diff, I like it. There are a few occasions where I feel like the spacing is a bit small, 00:15:613 (5,1) - say this for example. Also like I said in the Hard diff, it feels just a bit dull due to the lack of slider variety.
