I had always thought that Aldred would be a masculine name.
interesting. For me it sounds rather feminine. Might be a cultural difference, or maybe I've met a female aldred somewhere and forgot about it. I thought that the name can be given to both men and women..
I've only ever seen Aldred as a first name for men. (e.g. Aldred Lumley)
The only times where I'd see Aldred in the names of women is if it was their surname. (e.g. Sophie Aldred)
