But Anime is a japanese invention. You can't just take their stuff and give it to the english people *cough* Americans *cough* cuz the voices are a bit too high. That's how their voices sound. Get over it.
But Animation isn't a Japanese invention so clearly it was wrong to begin with right?-Nya- wrote:

Big Eyes were adopted around the 90's so they can't define anime and neither can adult storylines (I doubt you'd want to defend this point as there are series like Princess Knight and Astroboy, Osamu Tezuka is the director often noted for making anime to appeal to a adult audience.-Nya- wrote:
@ Green Platinum: Anime sweetie! Big eyes, adult storylines. Yeah, the original plots and designs are purely Japanese.
I don't see what popularity has to do with anything? elaborate please?-Nya- wrote:
Anime has to be japanese. What else is it? I mean, Anime is very big in Japan, much bigger than anywhere else in the world.
No official dub claims the series as their own though. The owners are recognised on the disc case and credits etc. There are official Japanese dubs of american cartoons as well like My Little Pony, Southpark and The Simpsons etc. If Japanese is the superior audio language why don't you take all the american cartoons and make them Japanese?-Nya- wrote:

You very much sound like Americans steal anime... o_O-Nya- wrote:

+1 this. Owners are credited.Green Platinum wrote:

That's the thing. Anime: Japanese (Americans stay away!!)
Cartoons: I don't care what the americans do with these.
That's how it should be.
I can honestly say that people are going to prefer what they prefer and stick with that - this thread and the other two that I linked are proof of that. My sister's into anime WAY more than I am so I can speak with the experience that I have a sister who loves everything anime (and manga). So the fact that you gave them a try: points for that.-Nya- wrote:
@ Justykanna: You know what, at first I also watched it in english cuz I thought, well, it's supposed to be english but then I started watching the original versions and it blew me away. If I haven't started watching anime in japanese, I never would have liked it that much.
I know right that's why this thread was made for that to tell your opinions or what you like more sub or dub but i really don't get it why most people over contradict something you said just because they don't agree with it and find many ways just to prove they're right.........................................and yeh japanese is still cool-Nya- wrote:
Fine, I guess everyone has their own tastes and whatnot. You can't really change that :O The japanese language is still cool though
I know, right.Cocolites wrote:

I can't think of any good animes to hear in Japanese (They all just feel just ordinary or bad) at least none with the impact of Baccano for example.Pituophis wrote:
I generally prefer sub over dub. Occasionally I'll find a dub that I think is actually good. Rarely do I find a dub better than sub, I can only think of DBZ as a case of dub being better, but I didn't care for the series itself much. I like sub because there is usually more emotion in the VA's voice. I also get tired of hearing the same english VA over and over again.
You say this but what is the best Sub you have seen?-Nya- wrote:
Yeah, I can't see how anyone can argue with fact that sub is just way better than dub. The japanese acting's just better.
No one ever said dub is way better than sub.-Nya- wrote:

What if a series takes place in multiple countries?CrystaltheCool wrote:
For me, it depends on where the anime takes place. Yes, a majority of anime takes place in Japan, and I watch sub for those. However, some anime takes place in America. Soul Eater is a good example of this. It's dub is great, btw. Funimation is the best dubbing company I've seen. Funimation is the only dubbing company I can say I love. Aniplex USA is okay. :/
Can agree with FMA Brotherhood and Soul Eater (even though a LARGE portion of the actors are the same anyway).Gumpyyy wrote:

Whenever I watch a sub it's usually because there is no dub available.
All the dubs I really enjoyed I have watched more, listing that would be boring.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/5114/Fullm ... rotherhood I found the sub to be cringe worthy at best

My sister really likes certain Japanese voice actors and has raved at me about one of them about a year ago (I'll repost here when I remember who it was). xDGreen Platinum wrote:
Seems odd that people defending dubs are the only ones willing to provide examples of good vocal work.
It's not about the company, more so the actor and how they do in the anime, for me.CrystaltheCool wrote:

Then it depends on where the episode I'm watching takes place in, or I just avoid complicating everything by only watching sub. XDGreen Platinum wrote:

What series did you really go to that effort with? Otherwise by saying you only watch sub really means you can't discuss sub v dub.[/quote]Green Platinum wrote:

Or you cannot tell what jananese vocal work is actually amazing and they have all been mediocre.-Nya- wrote:
@ Green Platinum: Literally, all the anime I have watched till now sounds brilliant in Japanese, so it isn't really needed to give examples cuz most subbed anime are great, where dub . . . not so much.
Funny... I didn't come from any of them thinking the vocal work was particularly special. I was expecting something along the lines of Usagi drop for authenticity.-Nya- wrote:

Dub is also not over-the-top. And SAO was really not that bad. Come on people!AutoMedic wrote:

Pretty good, but not "over the top"
>SAO
Jesus christ, how horrifying
>Beyond the Boundary
oh no the fuyukai desu memes are just plain annoying
>Another
Dude, have you ever considered listening to better voice acting
Oh I just not appreciate the unbelievably annoying high-pitched girl voices and testosteroned filled ones in anime. I'd say that sometimes, sub can work out but not quite as well as we expect
Fuck-you-kai desu.AutoMedic wrote:

Agreed, lol. People always find ways to hate SAO, I've found. =/-Nya- wrote:

I asked for an anime with amazing Japanese voice acting. SAO doesn't fit that either. There are plenty of criticisms of SAO I don't thin the voice acting is one though.Justykanna wrote:

Pretty much every Otaku Culture thread. If you have an opinion you should be able to defend it with reasons.Justykanna wrote:
