00:10:978 (7) Beats hidden behind sliders is a no-no for ranking, you'll want to move this.

00:24:176 (6) The same goes for sliders hidden behind beats. No-no for ranking.
00:27:676 (4) & 00:29:275 (4) This can actually work out fine the way it is, though BATs might want you to move it. Leave it for now and you can adjust it later if other people think it should be.
00:33:775 (1) You could easily just flip this to the other side of the triangle pattern to avoid hiding it behind the slider.
01:31:366 (1-12) These beat/slider patterns are iffy, but I've seen them used in other maps so don't worry too much about them. I just wanted to put this in as something to keep in mind for later if anyone else mentions it.

Pretty darn awesome map though. It's a fun play and the patterns are rather nice. Have a star!

Well done. I especially like the SB that goes on at the beginning and in the corner.
However, the random x2 speed and Kiai time slider at 00:32:175 (1) kind of doesn't seem to work with me.
Also: the mapping after the second repeat seems uneven to the rest of the map. I don't know, another difficulty maybe? However, I did enjoy the rest of it. Good work.

On Expert: Your Storyboarding seems to fail at 00:28:755, the 2nd combo after Kiai time (00:28:755). The ring counter seems to go back to zero even though all the notes have been 300'd. Seems to go back afterwords.

yes yes... tried to reduce difficulty of hard
also a kind of buggy SB this was... tried to fix that
it also was in insane and fixed that too

This is a good start for a good Sonic beatmap.

[General]
Consider switching between soft and normal hits during this song. Use the soft hit sounds when the song is quieter, such as from the beginning to 00:04:360, then normal from there for the four hard synth hits. Switch back to soft for the next four measures, and repeat until you hit the chorus of the song at 00:27:360 and just keep it at normal hit sounds. Adjust the hit sounds to what you think is best afterward, though just this is nearly enough already.

Another thing to consider, if you wish to use Kiai, at a good place to use it would be from 01:07:360 to 01:20:960.

01:34:146 [11] This beat was really hard to see for me, especially with the combo color.

Even if the ring set of the storyboard isn't quite working right, just the opening is worth it for me (and the timer is a nice touch). Great job!

Yo. Nice storyboard there :)

Blue = design/minor issues. you do not have to change these if you don't want to.
Orange = moderate issues. it would be best if you change these.
Red = major issues. you need to change these.

  1. Timing looks good
  2. Having Zero stack leniency is unrankable. Not to mention Hidden players will hate you for it. You can set it at the notch just before "Rarely Stack" though
  3. Some of your SB images have a lot of transparent pixels, taking up space and memory. You should crop them out.

This seems to be a little hard for the easiest diff. Since the song is short, you should make an easy (Either that or make Normal easier, which I wouldn't do)

00:24:460 (4) - This beat feels a little odd to me. Remove it?

He only needs to delete the "Sonic & Knuckles - Flying Battery Zone (Act 2) (bLaTzK).osb" one. Hes got an SB so he should keep the other one

Also, some images still have transparent pixels. in your SB, "Act 2", "Flying Battery", "Red" and "Zone" still have transparent pixels. that should be it.

Not a massive fan of your usage of Kiai in this, Normal and Hard. Good idea, but they are too short... You can keep them though. If you do, make Insane consistent.

00:17:760 (8) - I also don't like this.
00:25:760 (3) - Move this to the left a bit.
00:27:360 (1) - Blargh, also ugly. Make it rounder, but also the start and end aligned better. A bit like this.
00:28:960 (3) - Why not put this where the 4 of the previous combo is?
00:49:860 - 00:51:260 - A bit awkward space. Not sure how to fix it though.
00:51:360 (1,2) - Again, ugly. See previous image.
01:01:060 - 01:02:460 - Easy, but again awkward. Extend spinner a bit, put 01:02:560 (1) a bit earlier.
01:04:960 (3) - Why is this not in the center

You could map a couple of the breaks...
00:15:860 (2) - I would recommend putting this away from the slider end instead of stacking it, like at 00:22:260 (2), for a pattern and readability. I also think it's too quick, but that's not too important.
00:27:660 (4) - Maybe make the start start at the 2?
00:32:160 (1) - This is quite random, and impossible to predict when playing the first time. Why does Insane have a warning but not this diff, anyway?
00:52:160 (4) - Very slight spacing.
00:52:960 (1) - ^. Distance snap seems to say it goes there, though.

I would complain about those sliders being unintuitive, but I suppose it fits the game again. xD
00:38:760 (6) - Cool, but I'm not sure whether it's rankable though. I think it might be.


Yeah, don't really like Yellow Yoshi's difficulty, but the rest is really good. Especially the SB, starred.

So i made myself up and tried my own easy. I don't know if it is too difficult for an easy difficulty but

The hit sounds are very good, and insane was fun, I could nazi the hell out of hard/insane, but like I said, not my mapping style =p

Generally not a good idea to use grey notes, because they are distracting in tag.

Relatively fine.

00:01:960 (1,2) - Stack this on 3. It might be a less awkward way to start the song. Start on a easy note, not a hard one. Just a suggestion. (Actually you might want to stack those notes until you get to this part in the song. 00:41:960 (1,2,3) - )

Hard

Timing Section

Inherited Section : 33355 Change to to 33360 so that it ends exactly where the slider does.

Notes

00:14:560 (1,2) - It's better to stack notes like these. The transition is awkward the way you have it now. Relocate the position of 3 after ward and other notes that it displaces.

00:20:960 (1,2) - ^

00:37:960 (6,7,8) - Make part of the orange combo?

00:53:760 (4,5) - It is too easy to combo break having the notes placed like this. I suggest you just combine the notes.

00:54:560 (1,2) - Same as with 14 seconds.

01:10:160 (1,2,3) - Slight spacing discrepancy.

01:27:760 (5,1) - Move left 1 unit (Fixes alignment)

Insane

00:41:960 (2,3,4) - Doesn't feel like a reversing tone to me.

Bleh it's hard to mod for me since I can hardly play any of it. Sorry you'll have to find someone else to give you better insight on this. star anyways.

Your right. Sonic & Knuckles is more of an expansion pack to Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

And no, I don't think it will get worse if other people map the songs from that game. :P

Actually there was not much to mod. Beatmap is well made, and diserves to be ranked. Starrr'd :D

How awesome it would be, if the score would actually show the score and the rings would count the combo!
Some customizations that are missing:
- The real "checkpoint" sound for break-times
- The "getting hit and losing all rings"-sound for combo breaks
(Maybe you can get those from the game directly via emulator and record stuff with disabled BGM?)

FINALLY someone who UNDERSTANDS the usage of "speed-up" or "speed-down" SB-elements. Perfectly placed! (read: not too late! All too often I see this used 1/2 beat before the slider orz)
Very polished and playable map!

00:08:160 (X) - Maybe add a note here to make for a better transition between the two parts
00:09:460 (5,6) - What exactly is mapped here? I can't hear anything D: I suggest deleting (5,6) and using a 1x repeat slider from small white tick to big white tick http://puu.sh/2Fkh adjust spacings afterwards
00:10:960 (5,6) - ^ but here you can just move both notes forward (00:11:160 red tick + blue tick) to match the baseline...maybe stack them on top of the following slider
00:17:760 (1,2) - strange rhythm pattern here imo. Sounds much better if you just use one longer slider instead of circle + slider
00:18:560 (4,5) - again strange and unfitting. move back 1/4 (blue tick, white tick) to match the song
00:19:360 (1,2) - ^ move back 1/4
00:24:160 (4,5) - unnecessary jump. you don't use this jump pattern for the following notes
00:58:560 (2,3) - again doesn't fit the beat/song. move back 1/4 to form a triplet? Sounds and plays much more intuitive
00:59:360 (3,4) - ^
01:00:160 (3,4) - ^
01:10:860 (X) - I think it fits much better to add a circle here and...
01:11:060 (5) - ...delete this note
