Hi! If you don't know what this is about, then you can refer to my introduction post.

This is the road to become Cookiezi-level at Osu!

Note how I state that it's THE road, not my road.

Everyone else is welcome to share their progress too! We can all make it there together!

This is where the journey starts, I started playing around 45 days ago since this post so there's quite a bit to catch up on, this might become diary-format.

Week 1 (The first 7 days)
SPOILER
I found Osu! and videos of Cookiezi playing! Needless to say, I was pretty much inspired, so I tried the game out on a normal song and it was so fun!
Then I made a self-oath to devote the rest of my week to bootcamping this game and pick up the basics ASAP.

At this point I had no skin and clicked with only 1 finger and didn't know much about ZXZ or XZX and I used my mouse, so I was pretty slow...

By around Day 5, I beat and No-missed my first Hard-difficulty song!

Come day 6, I got my first FC on a hard song

On day 7, I noticed my tracking speed and rhythm were horribly unbalanced and my tracking was just too slow and could not keep up, I thought it was the mouse.

Week 2 (Tablet and Skin)
SPOILER
I mentioned in my Introduction post that I had a senpai that I've known since I was just some dumb tween (we've never met irl!)
He was kind enough to give me some pointers.

Half-way into Week 2, I went out an bought a Wacom Intuos Pen Small Tablet (CTL480), it was strange, and it took all day to figure out the most comfortable settings. But the biggest thing was, I didn't feel slow at all with tracking anymore!

Note that this doesn't mean Tablets will make you better, it just felt more natural to me compared to a mouse.

Week 3-6 (Getting faster)
SPOILER
Here I spent the time to become accustomed to my new tablet and get a little faster. Which meant I have emphasis on speed rather than accuracy at this point.

As suspected, there wasn't any FCs (at least none that were impressive at the time) and my accuracy suffered to 90-91%

Senpai also gave me a skin around this time! I loved it because the clicking sound you got from it was like instant feedback and helped a lot with my rhythm.

But I got faster, very quickly
These videos showed my progress, and some of them were first-time clears and I recorded them as soon as I beat them.

After these songs, I was satisfied with my progress, so I settled down and really grinded out the Hard-FC's

Week 7 (Stepping into Insanity)
SPOILER
It was pretty evident that I was setting a bit bored of Hard songs, so I started working on Insane songs with decent AR and OD

Oh! And my accuracy recovered and is hovering at around 97%

But I was AMAZED at my own progress, and instead of settling with beating these songs, I felt confident I could FC some of them, so I did!

By this point, I realized it wasn't about "Hard" or "Insane" difficulty, because I still encountered challenging songs that were difficult even on hard.
So I worked on many things, the most important being my tracking and my stamina in songs, and how to keep calm and not tense up under pressure.
And most importantly I wanted to have fun.

I really dedicated myself to become more consistent and worked on that legendary stamina and precision Cookiezi had.

Defeated Airman (Sushi hard, nowhere good enough to do Blue Dragon Yet)

Week 8 (Speed creates speed)
SPOILER
I'm taking my steps to become faster and faster at this game.

I cleared Wahrheit! It's pretty bad, but clearing it means I'm getting faster! Expect an FC in the future~!

FC'd another Insane song

Hiatus!

Week 9 (Finals Week)
SPOILER
SUNDAY BREAK TIME

Mid-Finals, got a chance to play, FC'd Cirno's Perfect Math Class

Week 10a (Training and Stuff)
SPOILER
SURPRISE! Nothing here, lots of FC's but nothing really impressive compared to past videos.

I lied, have some FC's

The Daily Struggle

ANOTHER FC, this was done a while ago, but the copyright claim was finally lifted

Clearing a song with a 220 BPM Stream, note at the end that I overstreamed xD

I learned to play with Hidden mod!

But there's nothing impressive done with it yet, so here's a no-mod FC

Week 10b (More training)
SPOILER
I broke 10k plays! Didn't have a life to begin with anyways :?

But I suddenly got A LOT better with single tapping

Also an FC

Week 11 and 12 (Down with the sickness)
SPOILER
DT and FC's, just rising in pp and rank!

GOT SICK WITH THE FLU, the pp-train don't stop though....until the meds wear off

No longer sick, went camping for a few days, got a little rusty, but got back into the swing of things

Training continued and hit 2210 pp
Most Contributing FC's

The Choke Life is Real Episodes 2 and 3
Part 2 got Taken Down and I got a copyright strike

Week 13-14 (We DT Now)
SPOILER
At last! Top 10k! I proceed to train once more and look into higher Approach Rates, so we start off at 9.6 (AR 8 with DT)

And of course magic like this happens on the first training day

And my accuracy still SUCKS

Week 15 (Had a Small Hiatus)
SPOILER
E3 Happened and I got all absorbed in the media.
But I bounced back into Osu! after it was all over.

2800+ pp (Time Based Journals Too High Maintenance)
SPOILER
Including all videos that were uploaded after the previous section

THE CHOKE LIFE IS REAL PART 4

At this point, getting to 3k pp was sort of a mental block, but eventually I got there

3000+ pp (Woah, I did it? :) )
SPOILER
The ride never ends

UPDATE : Happy Lucky's run has since improved to a 184 pp play

I move onto 3100 pp

NC, also 3200 pp

3300+ pp (LF > Talent, hard work too time consuming)
SPOILER
This is starting to look more like a video collection than a journal :I

Got dat 3300 pp

Incoming 160 bpm heartrate panic attacks (not really panic attacks, but man do I get shaky)

GOT MY FIRST 200 pp PLAY
It was Daydream Cafe, I already uploaded a lower pp play

3600+ pp (Ever improving, and some physical health concerns)
SPOILER
While it's lovely that I'm improving, I've recently been having concerns with my right hand, the joints are very stiff and I'm inclined to believe I might have arthritis (there isn't much hint of CTS or RSI so I'm safe in that regard). Update from future me, it wasn't arthritis, I was just a little bitch that played too much

Anyways, videos

The 200+ pp plays are real

MIRACLE 260 PP PLAY

Just working towards 4k now

Yep, anytime now...

4000+ pp (I cringe at my old posts in this thread :^) )
SPOILER
NEED TO TRAIN AND CRACKDOWN, 4500 IS THE NEXT GOAL, THEN 5K AFTER THAT
Also Big Black Attempt, I'm sure I can clear it now though

Training is going well I think, aim and speed still carrying me

Another 200 pp play (I cringe at failed streams)

RIP SS

I'm almost 4200 pp

4100~4700 pp ( Stahp downvoting my videos ) - Current
SPOILER
moar plays this one is old, I already got a new score on it and got higher in the top 50 for it

same with this play, got higher acc, thus more pp

not as impressive

now I guess we're getting somewhere?

not sure

oh I'm pretty proud of this play though

even prouder of this play

shit, I messed up like 17 extra pp

no one can become cokezi.
even if you play 1-6 hours daily for 4-5 years, you can't become cokezi.
just take it easy because once you're here, you're here forever anyways.

cukesy got to where he was in like 3 years or so no? Sure not everyone has the talent or raw potential he has but you never know.

I'm not quite sure how long it will take me to reach that level, in terms of just clearing those songs, I'd give it by the end of summer? (You can laugh if you want)

I'm gonna work on AR, then Streams, then I'll step into faster songs. After I get comfortable with AR 9 and OD 8/9, then I'll work on FCing Talent Shredder (I've been practicing it on Half-time for a bit, but stopped because Senpai said Half-time is a bad habit to fall back to).

What are your short term goals? (within 1-2 months)
winber1
you should only one goal when you start osu! If you have any other goal, you are doing it wrong.

That one goal is to quit and stop playing this game

A month seems to be a lot of time ^-^
I hope that by the end of the month I get used to AR 9

By 2 months, I want to be able to be consistent with streams.
Kukuthemoogle
This is a fresh post compared to the usual, I like it!
I wish you luck on your journey to becoming Cookiezi-Tier :D
I hope to see a lot of other players recording their progress here.
piruchan
I've been here since December and can only pass "easy" Insanes with C or B. Have to practice more.
[ Stellar ]
It's good to see there are still people playing at their own pace and not taking any shortcuts to be good.
Keep up the good work!

er, no, it's only less hard
takaharrue
lol @ anyone who says you will never be able to compete with Cookiezi.
just a sad excuse to give up, ofc anyone can reach cookiezi level within 4 years ez. just don't take any breaks longer than a week, play every day. consistent practice is probably the most important factor.
TheVileOne
I don't think you really need to FC Freedom Dive to be cookiezi tier. I mean rrty hasn't even FCed Freedom Dive. Getting over 2000 combo in Freedom Dive should be good enough to be considered in that top echelon of players IMO. You're probably never going to do something that rrty can't/ hasn't done yet.

I don't think many people consider rrtyui to be cookiezi tier either though, he's still "top" but cookiezi was on another level

Cookiezi didnt have any skins for a year or more. He also played with default settings, limited fps and aero on for a very long time.

Oh and i have played for over a year and only just recently i have started to master AR9

You can't get to cookiezi-tier if he's secretly training

That's because people keep speccing him all the time. Until he's banned forever
Liiraye
The thing is, if you want to get pro at this game you have to be able to spend your entire life on practicing until that point. It can take years even. I just decided that I didn't have time for it and stopped to do something less stressful - mapping.

If you have the time then GL! Will be fun to see the progress~

People please, you're all just a bit too humble with yourselves don't you think?
Taking years to reach Cookiezi level? I doubt that. The only things holding me back is my desire to FC difficult songs ASAP when I should be coming back to them later.

I want to show others just how capable the human mind and body is if they believe in themselves enough.

It's extremely realistic. He played for longer than 5 years himself and he's unrivalled....
Liiraye
When you start reaching the lower thousands and maybe even hundreds you'll understand. There are phenomenal players each with remarks that make them stand out among the pro players, but none of them had a shot at the #1 once cookiezi was active. He had pretty much all the skills combined except for spinning.

It's kinda disrespectful to say that anyone can surpass cookiezi quick. There are hundreds/thousands of players with an incredible amount of plays who still struggle.

Sure, you'll get pro if you spend a lot of time and dedication here, but you're not alone on that.

Edit: You average 2k plays in a month or so. I have friends who often reach 9k plays a month for periods of several years who gave up around the lower hundred rank. You'll need more dedication than that bro.
LuckyStrike_old_1
OP, make a backup of your osu! folder sometimes, because when someday when you realize that it's fucking impossible to get at his level or even close to it, you'll ragequit and delete your osu! folder, and not longer than a week later it will be a really pain in the ass to restore all you songs and return your skin, if you modified it.

Also you have to play 10h+ per day everyday 7 days in a week 365 days in a year. Because there are a lot of other players, who play 5+ hours everyday the hardest map they can for becoming cookiezi, for example me. It means that everybody else is improving, and if you want to be the best, you have to have the fastest improving rate, so you have to play all the time that you have. Skip school, quit job, never go out. Just play and sleep, play and sleep. And then, PROBABLY, you will come CLOSE to him.

But you won't do that, you won't even do something close to that. So forget about it.

Don't listen to people who say it's impossible, they are just jealous of your determination to succeed.

You can do anything if you believe! ! !

I'm not saying you won't get good in a short amount of time, but that statement sounds pretty damn ignorant.

It should never be impossible in the first place. Cookiezi is as human as everyone else, it's like looking up a mountain. You see Cookiezi at the top and most people just say, "Yeah, there's no way I can climb to that level." What makes people think that? If he can do it, then couldn't I do it too?

It took him more than 4 years to climb a mountain, you're not going be a miracle child and climb the mountain less than a year.

If you try to modify your genes to korean ones, probably you can become a great player :P
TheVileOne
It's great to see confidence in a fledgling player. It will truly be a spectacle to see you take number 1 within a year. People will be calling you a hacker for sure.

But what people are saying is true. You will need to play a lot to get places. Hopefully you have a lot of time on your hands to travel this path. Maybe you'll need to make a leap over the chasm for that shortcut.
