This is the thread for the CtB community map project.
What is the Community Map Project?
This is not just any collaboration, but a very large one. It isn't just limited to a few people, it's to be helped with the entire community of Catch The Beat, as well as any other mapper wishing to give Catch the Beat mapping a try. This is a good way to help people stick their toe into the pool of mapping for Catch the Beat. In addition, commoners like myself, Deif, Drafura, Krah, and others will be able to help you out with your mapping and mod it as well. This will also help get a large amount of styles into one map, making it a fun and colourful game for any player.
How do you map in CtB?
Mapping in Catch the Beat is rather simple. You can map like a normal standard map, except only the left and right movement will actually matter. (x axis, to be technical) Spinners become banana rain, and sliders become streams of smaller fruits you need to slowly move across.
There are, however, some quirks you need to avoid:
- Impossible sliders, the sliders that becomes hyperdashes on the ticks and ends of it, resulting in too fast of a slider velocity.
- Spinners that end 1/2 a beat before the next fruit.
- Overloading the map with hyperdashes or multiple repeated hyperdashes.
These are considered bad CtB mapping practice, so keep it in mind!

How can I help?
We have picked a song to map, and have it all timed, so we are all ready to map it.
You should read the Catch the Beat ranking criteria: https://osu.ppy.sh/wiki/Catch_the_Beat_Ranking_Criteria
This will help you get a good base information on what will and will not work in Catch the Beat.
Now that you're all set, feel free to pick some time slots! If you're new to mapping in Catch the Beat, you can try and focus on the easier difficulties like Cup and Salad, and if you're feeling more experienced you can try Platter, Rain, or Overdose.
How do I claim a time frame, work on it, then submit it to you?
1. Select the time frames you want to map and post the time frames you want on the forum along with the difficulty you are editing.
2. Go to my map, and edit the difficulty your assigned time frames are for. The timing points and SV changes should be all set up and ready.
3. Look in the timeline at the bottom of the screen and search for your allotted time slot(s).
4. Save the map when you're done.
5. Go to File > Open Song Folder http://puu.sh/8LmCp/5d73e86b3c.png
6. Upload the .osu of the difficulty you edited and post it on the forum.
7. Done!
