On a more serious business:
Try to not use horrible fonts for your avatars, 90% of dafonts db is complete garbage and the minority is universally usable.
Horrible fonts are those that aren't edgy.
I'm not your mentor thus i won't answer this any further, google the shit out of the question to satisfy your need of knowledge.

When I save as a PNG, it's still mega blurry. It did come up with a Interfaced bit saying something like 'Do you want to interface it' and I pressed no.

As for "increasing the quality":
If you're using an image that is full with jpeg artifacts, do you expect them to suddenly disappear if you export the image with 100% jpg/png-quality format off Photoshop?
Scaling/Stretching the base image every single time also decreases it's quality based on how many times you've scaled it.
So scale it down once is the amount i would suggest ever scaling something down, as in for increasing the scale on the image, not more than 10% of the original size, depending on how crowded the image is, maybe less and on very rare cases, more.
