My pp suddenly changed!

This is really weird. I had exactly 1,341pp and after playing this beatmap: http://osu.ppy.sh/s/40344 on the AngelHoney difficulty, my pp changed to 1,641 meaning it rose by 300pp more. So, is this a bug or was it just uncalculated pp? I don't want to get ranked with bugs and glitches so please if it really is a bug, how can I change it back? :?:

Im not an expert on this new system at all, but I know for sure that it's done by the combination of all of your scores, and now also includes how difficult a song is to create the pp score

Your scores was so good on such a difficult map that you got a ton of extra pp

Im sure somebody can give you more detailed information on it, that's just the "Me168 Sucks at Explaining Things" version

But I didn't even pass the song. I failed somewhere in the middle of the beatmap and after that, my pp changed, so did my accuracy.

The algorithm changed and pp is recalculating for every player right now. By making a score you made it re-calculate your pp immediately, hence the change in pp. Within the next few days everyone's pp will change according to the new algorithm.

My pp jumped 100 points randomly today too (although I still don't have much). I thought it was pretty weird, but I guess if everyone starts to jump from the recalculations then it doesn't mean very much :(

It won't fluctuate like that after it does it once. You only need to play one song (pass or fail) for your PP to update to the new algorithm.

From what I can tell, watching other players ranks after their last play, the update can take an hour or more. I think it's because it calls for a full refresh of all your scores and that takes a while since it's also doing everyone else in the process.

So yeah, it's not instant, unless the system has already processed your scores. In that case you only need to play once and you get your 'new' rank.

This is all speculation of course.

Well people's PP have been going crazy over the past few hours (so I have noticed). Like I gained about 300 or so PP today and the UK top 50 rankings has been going bonkers, people have been gaining bunches of PP and the places have been shuffled around so maybe peppy or Tom is making adjustments to the ranking system?

EDIT: Wow I'm blind, didn't notice that Tom actually explained this already xD

I just played a couple of songs, and I was utterly confused when after finishing them my rank went from 6625 to ~6900. I'm honestly afraid to play because I don't want to be >7000 :(

Neither of these songs gave me PP

yea, I dropped 300 as well T_T my acc just randomly dropped .40% I hope it's just not fully calculated and will change in my favor lol.

(PPv1)24k -> (PrePPv2)20k -> PPv2(18k) -> 14k -> 13k -> (Today) 9.5k

Now my Rank dropped back

i just realized that those 1.4k people will also go up and ill be back at 7k

Playing more will only make it better as you will get pp, once you are recalculated you are.

1. my pps updated from 4351pp to 4800pp
2. Then i pass map and i lost 639 pps (4800-->4361)

ahh I just went back up 1.4k lool. It's constantly changing due to what I assume is the algorithm processing everything if you're just confused as fuck lol.

the changelog said "Increase pp-value of scores which excel in one category", but why did my PP not increase at all, and even dropped?

This makes no sense. I was 3.6k ranked yesterday. Woke up today to the change, was 2.7k (went up 275 pp)ranked, fixed an A in my top scores(a 91% FC) to a 97% FC and went down to 3.9k ranked(went down 269 pp)...What is even happening?

he changed the pp system in some way to make it be recalculated across the board, meaning that you and everybody else will experience strange flucuations

Lol jesus fuck. You guys read the post if you want to know "what's happening" it's been said like a billion times. The algorithm for PP right now is calculating some shit and your ranks will be going up and down for a bit. I'm sure peppy or tom will make an official post when it's all done or at the very least let you know here.

Edit: someone should really lock this thread, because it's extremely pointless and people just complaining about pp and re-stating what has been said a billion times.

Everybody is saying someting else about it.

With PPv2 I got ranked back to 112k from 42k, after like ~3-4 days of playing I was rank ~40k.

Few hours ago I was 32k, lost some pp and got ranked back to 35.8k, played 1 map and got 1.5k ranksfor it?!

Please don't use a system that is not working.

"But they are currently working on it", I know that, but it can't be right, 112k to 42k to 32k to 35k to 34.2k this massive ranking changes are showing that they are also doing "massive" changes on the PP system, and those changes make no sense.

Little bit easier to understand: They rank me back to 112k(telling me with the new system I belong there), nearly instantly get back to my old rank 42k.

Then play a few days geting rank 32k(change system again) = rank 35.8k. Play 1 map = Rank 34.2k = System is failing/not working.

Just because you don't understand it, and because it gives you a bad rank does not make it a bad system. Some top players and a lot of other people have said that this is the best the system has ever been, and it's true.
