osu! Individual Championships 2014

Intro
Welcome to the Osu! IC 2014!
This is a unique tournament that will be held yearly.
This tournament is designed to give the professional players a chance to truly rise above the rest.
This tournament is time-friendly. It will take place over the next 6 months!
If you are serious about competing in this tournament please read all of the information here. It is important.
Format
The rounds will be formatted quite differently from normal tournaments.
First Round:
  1. Every player is given 5 chips.
  2. Every time you beat someone in a song you take a chip from them. (To win you must have the highest score)
  3. If you beat someone on the "Advanced Pick" song you take 2 chips from them.
  4. When you reach 12 chips you are eligible to continue to the second round.
  5. There is no limit to the amount of chips you can collect.
  6. You must have 1 chip to compete.
  7. Only a total of 400 chips will be given.
  8. If you don't make it into the tournament a friend can GIVE you a chip.
Second Round:
Score Trail!
The rules are simple.
  1. Tell a referee you are ready to play.
  2. The referee picks a random map from the pool.
  3. You will play that map or get a 0.
  4. When you finish your score is recorded, the highest score total wins.
  5. You will play all 18 maps, you can split them up.
  6. You cannot play a map twice, if the referee picks a map you have played they will repick the map.
  7. If you absolutely hate a map, or need to get a higher score than the map that you are playing offers, you can choose to replace *1* map with the bonus map.
  8. All mods allowed (including DT).
  9. The rotten egg map cannot be replaced.
Semi-Finals:
Bracket format. Seeded.
First map will always be rotten egg. Winner of the rotten egg gets map pick, then it will rotate.
Rotten Egg is NOT worth a point, it is only used to determine map pick.
Tie Breaker will be used if both players are on game point.
Best of 7.
Finals:
Same as Semi-Finals except it is best of 9.
Eligibility and Registration
In order to be eligible you must rank in the top 10,000 in one of the following categories:
  1. PP(v2)
  2. Score
  3. TP
Exception: You may be given chips from any player in the tournament.

Enrollment is CLOSED
Rules
All matches must be attended by a referee!
Maps are chosen by the winner of the rotten egg.
You can use any free mods.
Use of skins and visual settings is allowed.
If there is a score tie then there is no winner.
If you disconnect mid match your score becomes 0, no exceptions.
Your score is counted even if you fail.
Once you have entered a match and the map has been selected you must complete the map against your opponent, if you leave the room and refuse to come back you will forfeit to the other player.

Round Times
First Round: January 15th, 2014 to March 31st, 2014
Second Round: April 7th, 2014 to May 31st, 2014
Semi-Finals: June 7th, 2014 to June 21st, 2014
Finals: July 5th 2014

Rewards
First: 6 months supporter
Second: 3 months supporter
Third: 2 month supporter
Fourth: 1 month supporter

Bonus:
First to 12 chips: 1 month supporter Goes to Ezoda! Congratulations!
Most chips at the end of First Round: 1 month supporter Goes to Raiku with 23 chips!
Secret Number of Chips: 1 month supporter Was 23, the age I was turning on April 7th, Raiku nailed it.

Round 2 Bonuses:
Most ISR at the end of round 2. (1 month)
Highest score on the bonus song. (1 month)
Highest score on the rotten egg. (1 month)

Thats the greatest part. The contestant does. It becomes your job to contact and challenge a player.

Although, the question is, what happens if you try to challenge a bunch of people and everybody declines? Would that person then not be able to advance due to nobody's willingness to play with said person?

I still don't get how 2v2 will work. Do both players get 1 chip? (one from each other player) Are the partners just for that match, can I change partners for a different match?

This has been a constant question, the truth is, if everyone said no there would be no one advancing. If no one will accept your challenge you can try to set up a 2v2 with a less skilled player as your teammate as a handicap and carry hard.

I will look into a solution to this issue and post it before everything starts.

Thats exactly how it works. Yes and yes. You can partner with anyone against any pair.

While I agree random pick is literally the worst, I'm curious as to why its being used.

I have explained myself, and the reasoning behind my decisions to you multiple times, and I have politely asked you to stop messaging me about it multiple times. Please keep your opinion and move along, a professional doesn't try to belittle someone or something, they disagree and move on. How about you go ahead and do that?

Random pick is being used to prevent players from picking to their own strengths or their opponents weaknesses. Due to the nature of the tournament and the possibility of a large player base we want to keep the first round games as short as possible so anyone can get a game in with a ref while they are available, to do this I am keeping the first round games to 1 round wins. Because of this the best possible choice is random picks.
