Visual novel is an interactive game with minimal gameplay that feature storyline more than Call-of-Duty, especially one that uses anime-styled art. Often, a visual novel is multi-layered and had different routes to take, which is a technique unexpressionable in anime and novels. However, companies like Kyoto Animation decided to do the taboo by anime-ating it.

If you choose to anime-ate it it gains fame, fluency, and fun, but loses its orginal multi-layer feeling and atmosphere and what's even worse is that many storylines and arcs are abridged! So here is this poll is to ask you if you support this or no.

Oh, and there is no 3rd option.

Regardless of how faithful it stays to the source material, the adaptation of a visual novel isn't necessarily going to end up with an awful anime. Of course, with linear novels like Higurashi, there's less room for error in regards to routes and such.

Decent VN adaptations can be made. I wouldn't say faithfulness to the source material will actually lead to something being good, but when studios take too many liberties (Kanon 2006, for example) I agree that it is detrimental to the enjoyment of the show to those who read the VN. That being said, many adaptations are still enjoyable even when they deviate from the source, so I'll say VN adaptations are a good thing overall.

Also, I would clarify the title a bit. "Anime-ate" is a bit vague. Adapt is a better word.
Harp Note
I think they can do whatever they want, sometimes are good and sometimes aren't, what you say is true, usually (or always?, don't know) they gain more attention after being adapted to an anime, so with that in mind, I choose number 2. If I enjoy said anime or not is another question entirely.

For instance, probably I would never have played Fate/Stay Night if i haven't watched the anime, I thought it was good at that time, now not so much...

I haven't played nor watched Higurashi, for what i have read it seems to be a good anime, but in the case of Umineko I seriously can't find words to describe how bad it is, that's my opinion after playing the VN, nevertheless, I didnt understand anything the first time I watched the anime. Well, this was one of the worst case scenarios. For me Clannad would be the opposite.

Edit: Rereading my post I don't know what I was trying to say with "number 2" lol

Anyway, I chose yes in your poll
