Anime Expo?

So my super special friend of mine told me about Anime Expo, which, ironic because I act like such a weeaboo, I'd never really heard of.

So there's a good 80% chance that I might be able to go, and a good 40% chance that I'll get to go with her.

So like, wtf do you do there? I know there's cosplaying, but I can't afford to do it this year, and I know there's crap like maid cafes and special japanese artists, but is there anything else?

And yes, I'm incredibly embarassed to ask these questions~. >3<~.

If anybody could help me lrn2weeaboo in a non "wow CDFA you're such a noob sort of way, it'd be greatly appreciated.

All you do is hang around checking out the nice girls, ignore the annoying ones in pikachu outfits and bump into some of the cuter ladies "accidentally" in order to chat with them. Always begin by complimenting their outfit.

That's how you roll. There's nothing else that fascinates me about these expos.

I actually went last year, it was awesome~ There's a lot of stuff you can buy like shirts, posters, games, figures, manga, etc (I'm talking about 45+ different vendors). The prices are generally cheaper and you don't have to pay for shipping~ Also, there's an "Artist's Alley" where you can check out independent artists' work and buy them. The AMV contest is pretty cool, if you're into AMVs (there's also AMV Chef, where editors make AMVs live in a limited amount of time). I don't know about this year, but last year were a couple of concerts including Kalafina and Hatsune Miku (which is the main reason I went). The Hatsune Miku concert was AMAZING but I don't think they're going to have it again this year. :( Also, they were giving away K-ON! posters with signatures of the English dub voice actors >< . If you want to experience watching anime in a movie theater setting, you can (there are movies like The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya as well as series like Ep 1-5 of Shana). I only went during one of the the four days, so there's a lot more stuff that I didn't get to see but basically it's a really fun place (especially if you watch a lot of anime because you can recognize a lot of cosplays and stuff)! :)

Unfortunately I probably won't be going this year, because my friend that went with me last year will be busy and my mom doesn't trust me to go by myself.. >:(

Edit: lol holy crap that's a long post, TL;DR you should go especially if it's with your crush. It's more fun with a friend anyways :P

It's not the only reason I'm going, but it did contribute :>.

So I talked with her today, and she said that it's dumb expensive, since they're staying in the hotel by the convention center, and I haven't acutally bought my 4-Day Pass yet.

Which means I might be screwed.

1.- take photos a lot of photos.
2.- take upskirt photos
3.- talk with some cosplayers
4.- flirt, you can go and flirt a lot of nice otaku's
5.- buy a lot of merchandise (if you don't have money just stael it if you can)
