Continuing on with last season, a place to post first impressions of this new season. (As a note, this is for the northern hemisphere's summer. Please don't get it confused with the winter thread from before)

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita:
SPOILER
I really didn't know what to expect when I first started this series. We have a post-apocalyptic world (well in some ways maybe not, but society has been in decline) with a bunch of hunter-gatherers who are farming chickens and researching fairies... Add on top an art style I didn't care for, I was not looking forward to the series, and then I get a load of jokes about cooking chickens, chicken rights, manipulating information, and bloody toast... (here are some pics http://puu.sh/FbzS http://puu.sh/FbFR http://puu.sh/FbH7 http://puu.sh/Fcf2 http://puu.sh/FclY http://puu.sh/Fcmo http://puu.sh/Fct1) After those jokes the show won me over instantly, so I am definitely watching episode 2

Tari Tari:
SPOILER
More PA Works, which means more high quality walls!!! If you watched Iroha, you pretty much know what to expect of the art: nicely done backgrounds with great amount of detail even showing things like the residue after erasing chalk from a blackboard (It seems a little lower budget than Iroha but that is to be expected). As for the rest of the show, it is a slice of life show where some people are too serious about music. Oh well, the characters were okay, so I'll stick around for a while.

Chitose Get You!:
SPOILER
Yay slideshows, we love slideshows right??? Well, here is a fairly low budget 3 minute slideshow show that basically has to sell on its humor. Maybe it is because I am watching it late at night, but I didn't think the jokes were funny at all, dropped.

Arcana Famiglia:
SPOILER
Action Shoujos... not exactly the genre I wanted to watch, oh well. Unlike many shonene shows, they did not cheap out in action scenes, but the action scenes felt so slow paced that I couldn't call them enthralling. Add on top lack luster backgrounds and cliche storyline, and you don't really get much..... I'll stick around for an ep or 2, but I doubt I can recommend this.
Yuru Yuri S2:
SPOILER
As many others have said, it is more of the same as last season. If you liked it before, you'll probably still love it. If you hated it before, nothing really has changed. As for the episode itself, they had an interesting introduction that does intorduce characters a bit, but it will be hilarious for those that know the series. As for the rest of the ep, more of the same jokes that you have come to love/hate.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate:
SPOILER
AIC Build has come again, and this time with yet another school club that doesn't do anything that useful. Wait. This time there is a dark background showing someone getting run over by a car in the first, episode. Will this develop into anything..... who cares? Most VN adaptations don't really do dark plots very well, but on the other hand, we have what we expect of AIC Build, decent backgrounds (showed some texture but still pales in comparison to PA Works), a bunch of comedy, CG sections, a episode preview that is framed.... This is going nowhere. All I can really say is that it has potential, there is nothing too wrong with the first episode besides a censored section. Even if the dark section is a letdown, AIC Build has delivered on comedy and animation, and from its track record, will continue to do so.

Campione!:
SPOILER
I am not exactly happy with where they started the show. I still think starting with the actual first arc is a better choice, but what is done is done. They start the series off in the 3rd arc (the past arc), and show how Godou ascends to power. Overall, the episode is decent animation wise, but some of the action does look a little cheap (the jump when she put on Hermes's shoes and her shield removal). Plot wise, the pacing felt a little rushed with very little explanation as to why Erica knows Japanese or various other small details, but it did flow and show what needs to be shown. The only thing I have against this show is the narrator and his seiyuu. When he does the ending lines of the episode (the beginning line of the novel) he says it in a plain epic voice that don't portray the dual-sided nature of the blessing and curse of being a campione. Whatever, I doubt the narrator will hurt my experience too much. I just need the storytelling to be decent and the show will be alright.

Kono Naka ni Hitori Imouto ga Iru:
SPOILER
Even though I would love to enjoy a show with a StylipS op,this show is so low budget and is not that amusing. The plot is pretty much typical harem stuff with the slight twist of incest, so I don't think that will go very far either. I don't really have anything positive to say about it.

Dakara boku-ha H ga Dekinai:
SPOILER
Fanservice galore. There are loads and loads of fanservice in this shows. Expect all the humor to be perverted in some way or another. Looking beyond the fanservice, the animation is subpar for a good chunk of the ep with cut interactions, panning, and more things along those lines. To make matters worse, some of the scenes have considerable blur, making it hard to make out what is happening. However, there were also a few nicely animated battle scenes as well, making the show almost bearable. Basically, your enjoyment of the show depends on how much you appreciate the perverted humor.

Sword Art Online:
SPOILER
This show reeks of cash xD. The animation is astounding and music was solid. This is pretty much all you can hope for in an adaptation (okay fine, they could have had PA works level backgrounds, but let us overlook that). In addition, the adaptation is fairly accurate so far with all the training scenes included xD. The only thing I am not happy about is them covering the sidearcs since their storylines are terrible and deserve to rot imo. I rather have them rush to the main story, and finish up that way. Oh well, that is not something that should interfere too much with your experience watching.

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica:
SPOILER
From the makers of Queen Blade, you would expect a lot of pointless fanservice right? Well, you might be disappointed since this show actually doesn't have that much fanservice.... (there are still a bunch of blatant breast and pantie shots). In addition the show cheaps out on quite a few actions scenes, but at least did 1-2 short scenes right.... As for the plot, it could be interesting......, but knowing these people I am pretty sure the plot won't be that great. In short, I can't recommend this series to anyone, but the show has kept my interest enough to watch episode 2.

Dog Days':
SPOILER
It is time to see the return of our favorite hero voiced by Miyano, Mamoru (Ginga Bishonen, if anyone remembers). Oh well Dog Days is back in all of its glory. The same great animation, furry cast, and bizarre wars. Like the case with most sequals, your viewpoint of the first will probably continue on to the second. For those new to the series, the first episode is a terrible way to rate the show due to the episode being almost pure character introductions, but it does at least the charm of (or reason to hate) the series

Binbougami ga!:
SPOILER
Yet another show doing things hayate style, spam as many references as possible and create humor that way. Well it seems to work with jokes like the unfortunate Vegeta. Besides that, animation is sort of lackluster, and your enjoyment will fully depend on its humor, so try an episode and see how you like it.

Shows I tried watching and Droppeddue to lack of self interest.....
Hakuouki Reimeiroku - too many bishies.....
Tanken Driland - it is actually not a bad show, but it was just too kiddyish at times for me
Akenaide
Tari Tari : the art is nice. Hear the OP of True tears surprise me (same studio ?). A slice of life with music, i will watch obviously. And witch cosplay o/

Asa Made Jugyou Chu!:
The protagonist has a girls voice...dafuq!!!
I think in this anime you will see more ( . )( . ) than in any other anime.
Sorry but for me this anime has to much ecchi -...-
I think I will watch it when i'm bored ~_~

Campione!:
wow in the first episode already a kiss scene o_O
It looks like it will be a romance, harem, comedy and action anime
I hope there will be 24 episodes >_<
I will watch all episodes ^_^

Looking forward to see Sword Art Online >.<

Watched yesterday the first ep of La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia.
Action scenes are well done, the style is very good and the plot is also nice. Give it a look!

I'll edit as I go, as always.

Spoilered for length.
SPOILER
Shadow of the Colossal Waste of Time: Everything looks murky and kind of makes me feel sick. We're outside and the lighting looks kind of weird and then we enter the fantasy zone and the world is muted, then we're inside and the place is lit with a bunch of candles and then we're outside again and everything's muted and grey again.
A bunch of stuff happened I don't really care about apart from the main character almost getting stabbed right at the start, after that there was getting drunk and harassing masks, pointless TnA, Colossus vs little boy and unlimited garish sword works. Man, I just don't care.

Overall: I'm gonna go puke in a bucket or something.

Gratuito Italiano: I sure hope you like terrible exposition because this first episode is filled with the worst dog poop excuse for exposition I have heard in ages. "Lol you must be new to Italia island, those are the Polizia della Mafioso el Lasagne" "lol dude did you forget that we have magic powers? Here let me explain:" "We didn't need a spiegazione, you idiota." Man, I hope whoever wrote this crap got punched in the face.
Also, I...don't think the main character said more than 5 or 6 lines and I know nothing about her other than that she likes kicking and can read minds. In fact she likes kicking sooooo much that it appears that it is the only move she knows, as shown by her "fight" with her father.

Overall: Decent premessa, noioso main character, ridicolo setting.

Humanity Has Declined: It's cute, it's humorous, it's colourful. I'm digging it.

Overall: It's cute, it's humorous, it's colourful. I'm digging it.

Mirakurun 2: Kyouko, Yui, Chinatsu return in the sequel to the smash hit series of whenever the hell YuruYuri came out (Like a month ago if my memory is correct.)
The start's attempt to reintroduce the characters and their gimmicks through a single long running joke went about as well as you would expect that to go, but we were back into the normal groove in the second half. Nothing's changed, all is the same.

Overall: Needs more cowbell.

Space Adventure Binbougami: I don't think I care at all about this show. There were some okayish jokes, a whole bunch of screaming and the setup to a plot that I presume will be a completely original tale of learning about friendship and hard work while screaming "Hey person, the way you are doing that thing that you are doing right now is not the way you should be doing it" at the top of the characters lungs.
I somehow doubt this show will have anything truly of interest for me.
I laughed far longer than I probably should have at that joke about Suwano's eyes.

Overall: I hope you like yelling, 'cause we jump now.

Chocolate n' Stuff: I don't know what to think...
The characters have quite nice chemistry together, the main character isn't an unlikeable twat (although he is still quite bland), there were a couple of funny jokes and the plot moved right along. I just don't know what it is and it has left me with rather mixed feelings. Also the main character appears to have some sort of mental problems which I hope actually goes somewhere other than "He sees stuff".
I'll probably end up following it to see if anything remotely interesting happens.

Overall: THAT'S NOT THE MANUFACTURER APPROVED WAY TO DESTROY AN SD CARD.

Horizon II: Ah, it got even more ridiculous. This show man...

Overall:
It's not like I even like this show anyway.

That's no bunaga. That's a space station!: It sounded funnier in my head, okay?
A strong start to the show with them completely ignoring the how/what/why/boring everyday life of the main character and getting right into the action and getting the explanation of the premise over and done with in the first few minutes. Thankfully the phones=scary magic shit was over and done with right away and hopefully I will never have to see that plot device ever again.
The main character is surprisingly likable despite being devoid of any real character traits other than liking women/nobunaga's ambition and always picking the right flags (as every MC is programmed to do). I also liked that it only took him about half an episode to go from "What the fuck is going on?" to "Fuck it, let's unite Japan."
And then the rest of the episode was talking, talking and talking. Nobuna then started to glow and use her special move of wearing a kimono before using her killer move of shining and inducing a mass hallucination. Hopefully the rest of the show isn't just "OH OH OH! I'm from the future! I've totally got this one!"

Overall: Surprisingly likable first episode from a show so completely devoid of originality.
He's from the future. That's so hot!

Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King: The best

That is all.

Will edit as I go. Also only doing these right off the top of my head.

Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse - Man, I was told I'd be totally lost if I didn't play Muv-Luv before watching this. After a single episode, this is definitely false. It's easy to follow hard mecha sci-fi with some fanservicey shots thrown in there (risqué bodysuits, too). This has the potential to be interesting, but I didn't find myself really caring about the characters as of yet. It takes time to grow attached, though, and the world-building in this first episode is effective at drawing the viewer in, if nothing else. The visuals are nice and Satelight shows that they are grand at mech CG still, so that's always something nice to watch for.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has Declined) - This is pretty cute and silly, while feeling like it's hiding something somber. The entire idea of humanity declining, nearly going extinct, I think makes me appreciate the time with human characters in the show that much more, thanks to circumstances discussed in the episode. Here I am, though, waxing poetic about something adorable. It's cute and entertaining, weird and there's not much else like it, especially this season.

La storia della Arcana Famiglia - Aww shit, this season's reverse harem. It's got an interesting premise, but it introduced its characters and setup rather awkwardly and chock-full of obligatory Italian. I must say, though, that despite the messy start, it's got my interest and I want to see if it'll fumble handling all of these characters within a 12-episode time frame or if it'll actually gain some focus. Also, the art and animation actually look like they belong in 2012 this time! Good job, JC Staff, now you can sit at the grown-ups' table.

Chitose Get You!! - It's short and dumb. Humor doesn't really work and it made me feel uncomfortable for 3 minutes more than anything else. Might drop this once 3 episodes pass.

Tari Tari - This has the potential to be interesting, once we see what the plot actually ends up being. The most intriguing characters (such as the transfer student) get the least amount of screentime, but none of them actually annoyed me. It's also quite nice to look at, despite some animation hiccups along the way. So, I guess I'll continue this just to see what else it'll be about besides lolexposition.

Chouyaku Hyakuninisshu: Uta Koi. (Utakoi) - Looks like there's going to be no singular plot in this one, just two small episodes on a different Hyakunin Isshu poem. Might end up just being the love poems, but who knows. All I know is that this was a great first episode. The obligatory English in the ED was weird, but the sweet romance stories plus a beautiful art style and being decently-animated makes this an intriguing title.

YuruYuri S2 - This is tryhard panderbait. Can't understand the goddamn hype.

Campione! - This felt very rushed in its explanations. It is a tired and trodden upon concept that is handled only middlingly well, with okay animation at best and fanservice I would not expect from a first episode of anything besides, well, an ecchi title. We'll see how well the next few episodes go, but I wouldn't care if I dropped this. Maybe I'll care more once things decide to slow down a little bit so I can more easily take it all in (seriously, this episode was lightning-fast).

Natsuyuki Rendezvous - Boy, this season's filled with tons of tired premises! This one is at least told a little bit differently, but I do feel like I know what's going to happen. However, the characters are all likable and mature adults, from what I can tell, which makes this much more accessible to an older crowd (because I graduated high school quite a-fucking-while ago, I'm a bit sick of juvenile high school romances). This and gorgeous art make this one a keeper.

Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! - Um, no thanks. Generic harem setup with a potential incest twist. It's a harmless, unabashed harem title that is not well-animated. This show's going to spawn some lovers, I'm sure, but I'm not one of them.

Hagure Yuusha no Estecia (Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero) - Arms proves once again that it can't animate anything but violence and smut. This show is shiny, occasionally too shiny (one exposed scene with sunlight and loads of bloom nearly blinded me), even on the bodies of the wankbait female lead. The concept could be interesting if they didn't constantly switch focus to how the main character steals womens' undergarments. I don't actually mind fanservice (it's not for me, but if it works for you, good fucking job I guess), but the sheer volume of it in this episode is distracting. If it continues to be like this, consider this dropped.

Sword Art Online - Despite the fact that the premise would never happen in a real life MMO, you do get a real sense of danger from this first episode. It is all setup for payoff in later episodes, but it sets up the world of Sword Art Online quite well. What'll happen from here will hopefully be as entertaining as the setup, and the solid production values and music (oh hi, Yuki Kajiura!) will at least make the ride that much better. Solid first episode, looking forward to more.

Kokoro Connect - Boy, I wonder how they're going to drag this concept out. So we've got some generic character tropes, let's mix and match them in different bodies! Why? Well, we'll possibly find out later. I found this pretty bland and uninteresting, with everything being "just okay" at best production-wise and the characters not being ones I could particularly like or hate. We'll see if this series actually connects later.

You expected an anime from this generation to not have CG in it?

The sheer amount of CG is unbeliavable

This.

All I have seen thus far is Yuru Yuri and everyone knows what to expect there by now. I'll do some sort of formal list when I have time to watch everything I'm watching this season.

Yuru Yuri wasn't as great as I expected, its more like a substitute for acchi kocchi at the moment. Tari Tari is great, really loved it, can't wait for episode 2. Muv-Luv Alternative is okay, I still don't hate it (yet) like I usually do with mechas. Kokoro Connect half segment was disappointing, crap art = end of story. Asa made and Campione! are decent, not really into the ecchi type right now, too much fanservice gets annoying after awhile. All the animes which carry on to this season e.g. Hyouka and Accel World are the main ones I'm focused on atm, not getting into much as of now. Still waiting for sword art online and koi to senkyo.

I'll also probably continue watching Tari Tari, great for your eyes as expected by PA Works, totally love it

The only anime so far i have wached is Dog Days 2 and Yuru Yuri 2.
These are the only ones ived watched so far i have watched, this season might be good :)
KuroiHiKirby
Only summer anime I picked up so far is SAO and Kokoro Connect; been busy catching up with other anime, watching some that were recommended to me, life and shit, etc. Can't do Yuru Yuri for awhile because I haven't watched the first season.

Sword Art Online: The setup is nice. The creation of the world and the idea of the game was introduced nicely, and I feel the danger of their situation. Interested to see how they develop the characters and the world.

Kokoro Connect: Pshaw, these characters. The art is likeable to me though because K-ON! I've also never watched a genderbend series prior to this, so I'll stick with it for the experience.

moar stuff later when I'm less lazy.
vizzy
I'm really enjoying a bunch of these shows. Arcana Famiglia - reminds me of Soul Eater, kinda.
Dog Days' - good stuff.
Muv-Luv is too grotesque.
Tari Tari - yay.
Sword Art Online - seems OK so far.. everyone seems to like it.
Kokoro Connect - like.
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - random funny.
Dieathan
Only watching Sword Art Online at the moment, might pick up something else maybe.
Anyways, seems good so far. Really makes me want to see how the story unfolds from here.
Sallad4ever
Some anime title that really click to me

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: The most unique anime of the season, the artwork make me think of old anime but that what makes this anime stood out from the rest. It'll be hard to stick to it for someone who prefer moe or ecchi and other similar stuff like that but the premise of the story is very interesting for me at least. And it's probably just me but the fairy starting to creep me out with how they never close their mouth.

Joshiraku: Japanese stand up comedy, but it's not all about watching them perform, this anime is full of ordinary dialogue so that viewers can enjoy how cute the girls are. It have elements that makes anime to be a well known, "Girl, girl, girl, girl, and girl" but to bad it missing the most important element "High School" =P
Well joke aside, this anime is dialogue heavy so probably not anyone would like it, because all they do is talk & talk. Still for me, I like this kind of comedy where the focus is on the dialogue. So far it's quite interesting, I like the way they introduce the chars and the kanji joke is hilarious (there's even a cameo of character from Zetsubou). A shame it's not produce by Shaft, it'll be more brutal if it is though

Anyone have any suggestions to make this thread a bit more organized? I want people to be able to read this thread and get an idea of what each show this season is about.

Sword Art Online:
Gorgeous visuals and sound (but I was expecting a better OP), and since the setting is inside a virtual world there are countless of possibilities, and I'm into it. Ep1 was only the introduction so I can't say much, but I'm expecting really good stuff based on what I've heard from them novel readers.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate:
Looks like another harem school club anime at first, but the dark things involving the student council election have successfully made me into wanting to know more. Also do want Hazuki sensei.

Kokoro Connect:
Nothing much to say from ep1, except lol privacy. I'll continue to see how the story folds out, and cold girls are always a plus.

Tari Tari:
The characters are cute to watch, but the genre isn't what I'd normally look for. I probably won't enjoy this as much as the other titles, but I'll stick to it unless it gets really boring.

Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru:
Watched the first episode without any expectations at all, and sure enough, it's just your average harem/comedy/school anime. I'll watch this when I have time, but god I hate that loli voice.

Arcana Famiglia:
The wide diversity of characters makes it more interesting (maybe), though I can't seem to get absorbed into the story. Found myself wanting to skip certain parts a couple of times in ep2. I'll give it one more episode and see.

I might be doing a few changes to this thread or the successor thread(when the time comes). These changes will probably consist of links to everyone's post listed by name and a compilation of what people thought about certain shows.

On another note, feel free to reform your opinions based on episode 2s and stuff. Example: Campione! and its ridiculous idea to rush 5+ arcs in 1 season, and try to do 3 different arcs at the same time......

(I am still trying to figure out more uses for this thread than just having everyone post their opinion)
Valentiino
Well, thoughts about this season.

Still haven't found anything that seems even slightly interesting besides Horizon S2 (well, mainly coz of the humour get's to me D:) and muv-luv (just wanna check out how one of my favourite VNs spin off turns into an anime).

Not expecting much from anything, might aswell dig into older stuff now that I have ~3-4 animes to watch on this season, instead of 9-12.

Tari Tari: Fun. (Watching it on CR)

Kokoro Connect: Body swapping is one of my fave parts. (Watching it on CR)

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: I'll be following the fan adventures, just like in a video game. It's random funny and that's all the lesson I need. (Watching it on CR)

Dakara boku-ha H ga Dekinai: I prefer the AT-X version, but I'll have to watch the BS11 version on CR. (Downloaded torrent until it was removed by CR, then Watching it on CR)

Joshikaru: It's random. (Downloading torrent)

(this is roughly in the order from most to least favorite)

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: Love the whimsical and charming art style, the protagonist is pretty interesting, somewhat somber tone fits with the theme of the anime. Doesn't take itself too seriously, as shown by the skinned chickens xD

Sword Art Online: Interesting premise, I think this will be a hit among many. Asuna is cute :3

Tari Tari: Likeable and relatable cast (which is important in the slice of life genre), funny as well. Overall pretty high quality.

Kokoro Connect: Sounds interesting, similar character design compared to K-On! so I'd could watch it pretty much for that reason alone. ;)

Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru:
Some nice fanservice & comedy, but overall generic harem anime. :|

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate: yet another generic harem anime (lol I don't call it "generic" for nothing xD) , but the art is pretty good at least.

After watching the 3rd episode, I can say that the story isn't completely hopeless. At first I was really worried that it would be a load of fanservice and moe(which I don't mind all that much, actually) but I kinda see where it's going now.

The story exists (unlike K-On!) and is the focus of the anime. But, how they reveal the plot is kinda... unsettling

I hope they include chapter 16.5 of Sword Art Online in an OVA or something

otherwise this entire anime season will be shitty
ampzz
Arcana Famiglia - Ugh, just no.

Campione! - forcing myself to watch it.

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai - Diverged quite a bit away from the manga source but is still somehow enjoyable... maybe because it's not taking itself seriously at all.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate - Nothing at all like the manga or visual novel sources which were originally available for use but is still set to become the usual anime adaptation garbage somehow or another.

Kono Naka ni Hitori Imouto ga Iru - I knew this was going to be poor considering the source but my god, the over insertion of ecchi scenes in it killed off any enjoyment.

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon S2 - Toori can be completely naked and still be one of the likable protagonists I've ever known.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - Best show this season.

Muv-Luv Alternative - Total Eclipse - Ahaha.... went from mildly interesting into utter garbage in the space of 5 episodes, quality?

Oda Nobuna no Yabou - Dumb but is making me laugh at times and fall asleep in others.

Sword Art Online - The show is so jumbled up and uneven it's amazing..
