Bosses Trailer, nice :D

Vext_old
So I finally played the demo... Wow... That was good... And I mean the 3D version of the level. Finally it has a ridiculous sense of speed to it like it should, and they even upgraded the terrible controls of the previous ones.

This game

is beautiful ;w;

I'll get this when I have enough money or I'll ask Santa if he would give it to me :3

ztrot must be pumped the release is a day sooner than it was announced

The PC version is running at a stable 60 FPS on my meager mid-range rig, and I've yet to encounter any bugs. My only real complaint is that the aspect ratio is locked to 16:9; if you're on a 16:10 monitor, don't forget to change the display mode to Letterbox in the configuration menu before you start the game.

Oh, and the actual game is pretty good as well. Don't expect a lot of acts, though; the meat of the game lies in the optional challenge stages.

This game feels amazing on the PC, not so much on the PS3 though. Feel like I wasted money on that copy. Oh well, game is really fun.

What is it about the PS360 version that makes it inferior to the PC version (other than the price tag)? Is it higher load times/weaker graphics or is there something else? I'm not sure which version I should get - my PC will handle it just fine, but if I get the PS3 version, I can play it at work on a 3D TV.

Load times and there are a lot of sections where I started getting some button delay(.5-1 second). It got pretty bad once I entered Sky Sanctuary, but not as bad in Speed Highway.
Oh right, on the PS3 version the music tends to play 2-4 seconds late. Not sure if that's just me or not.
foulcoon
pc version is awesome, no complaints. If you want to play it with PS3 controller you'll have to use xbox 360 controller emulation with motioninjoy. Alternatively you could just use an xbox 360 controller.
awp
I'd be playing it with a PS1 controller, actually
Pokebis
Why?
Dualshock 3 is a wonderful controller.
awp
because it's identical to dualshock 2 which is basically what my PS1 controller is

apart from the L2/R2 buttons

allllso I don't have any usb mini cables that reach the couch
Pokebis
Use Bluetooth. That's what I do. (You're gonna' have to connect via USB once to sync it)
foulcoon
L2/R2 buttons are kinda necessary for some Act 2 stages. I allows you to "drift" I guess you would call it. Also it doesn't change the fact that Sonic Generations for PC by default only supports keyboard and Xbox 360 controller. You have to emulate the xbox 360 controller with your other input to use it.
Bestelle
Plus it's pretty fun to drift in general. Well... For me it's fun.
awp
yes but you see I already do that when I play other games like Cave Story and Iji. I think Super Meat Boy has native generic joypad support so I don't have to do that.

But yeah, I'd still be using the PS1 Dualshock. My computer doesn't have internal bluetooth support (afaik - it might but I've never bothered to check) and my bluetooth dongle is in my other PC. Don't feel the need to move it every time I want to go back and forth between general-purpose voice chat and Sonic Generations.

Having said that I probably WILL get the PC version and despite my better judgment of "I have about 40 other unopened games to play" I'll probably get it soon.

Oh thank goodness, I've been having the same problem! I thought my copy of the game had some kind of glitch or my PS3 was becoming old and slow (mind you it's the old "Phat" version which iirc was purchased in 2006). Although, this is only when playing Modern Sonic, not with Classic Sonic. Supposedly maybe this is on purpose since the music tends to begin shortly on or after the "GO!" sign appears.

Then again, I watched some play-through videos of the Green Hill levels just to see how the game looks like before I go ahead and buy a copy, and those who were playing the game via a 360 console had little to no latency of when the music kicks in.

I would have probably purchased the PC version but I was disappointed when CYRI (Can You Run It) said my laptop only passed the minimum requirements. It seems like my processor and graphics card (well that's a given since after all it's a laptop) is the only thing which made me had to get the PS3 version instead.

Oh well, it doesn't bother me much. I am still able to play the game and god, am I enjoying it.

Edit: *fixes grammatical errors*

Thanks for the additional confirmation on that. I meet all PC Recommended specs except pixel shader 5 (I have 3) and Vertex shader 5 (I have 3) though maybe that's just a driver update away?

Driver updates covers that for you, I'm pretty sure they do. NVIDIA's driver updates bumped my Pixel and Vertex Shader versions from 3.x to 4.1 in the past, and quite frankly, the only reason my laptop can't run Sonic Generations in recommendations is because my pixel/vertex shader isn't V5.0 (NVIDIA should eventually release an update for it I believe)... well, that and my processor's lacking a mere 0.39 more GHz.

Welp >:
awp
Yep, PC version it is

though I will still be buying it begrudgingly, since the console version should have been better but I guess everyone grows up and moves out at some point

By that you mean should have been better than it is? There are very few cases a title is better on console than on PC. I love my PC version with my Dualshock 3 emulating 360. Works perfectly, have all settings as high as they can be so it's gorgeous.
RemmyX25
what makes my 360 version inferior to the PC version, aside from graphics and load times?
foulcoon
those are pretty important reasons why it is inferior.

You forgot the ability to modify a game and use any control scheme you like.
awp
I'd say Sonic games don't need to be modified

but Sonic XL was excellent

This game is pretty exciting. I get nostalgia when playing the Sonic Adventures 2 and Sonic Heroes stages, my favourite games from when young.
Vext_old
I like the Shadow fight, I had tears in my eyes from laughing the first time as Sonic shot meteors at him and then just rammed him in the ass till he lost his rings.

Yeah, that kills me everytime.
I was really impressed with this game, I kind of gave up on sonic some time ago, but this game is really fun. None of the stages were really challenging, but it was still a good time.
Except the Time Eater, he was dumb, his fight was dumb, and it reminded me that this was still a new Sonic game.
Rukario
Time Eater fight is dumb, indeed. Other than that top notch. City Escape could've been longer, didn't really satisfy me to the fullest.
Speed Highway got everything right though. Pure Nostalgia there.
Green Hill is already kinda overplayed but people would've complained if it wouldn't have been in.
Not much to say to Chemical Plant other than awesome.
IMO Sky Sanctuary should've been replaced by Ice Cap. And yes I know that would be like a rehash of a rehash because Ice Cap got redone already a couple of times but just imagine Sonic getting chased by an avalanche in 3D/HD. Now that would've made some impact. (Also not yellow enough)
Seaside Hill you can ridiculously sequence break in both act 1 and act 2 lol
Crisis City shouldn't be in here because Sonic 06 never existed (If you remember the "plot" in that game)
Rooftop Run was awesome again though.
Planet Wisp was way too long, got annoying after some time.

I was sad to see no casino level. A few of the challenges had the elements but I thought that level was much more memorable than some of the others.

ikr. Though the tune from the DLC Casino Night Zone level did make me nostalgia a bit, I was disappointed to see it was only some silly Pinballl mini-game.

It looks good the game Sonic Generations, I will try to buy it on Steam: 3
awp
It was 10 dollars during the Steam sale

except that was after the memory leak got back into the game, so it's currently unplayable for me until they fix it

Aww poor thing. It works perfectly for me ........ strange

Game's awesome.

awp wrote:

Sonic Unleashed is alright if you like God of War and grinding.
Wait, people actually had to grind in that game? I had no problem with exp gathering normally. If you want to get everything to maximum, sure. If you want to beat the game and you feel a need to grind...then there might be a problem with your controller or something.
ztrot
So I'm like all over the leader-boards on this game and have stripped it down to almost nothing now I'm working on making kick ass mods for it And no I haven't played this enough

Edit: I've been digging in this game quite abit and found out some really neat stuff like the fact there is headerlocks for 4 extra stages yet nothing is placed in the files for these stages also just like unleashed and 06 it seems there will be a hard mode dlc added not sure if it will get a pc release tho :(

lol memory editing ftw

yeah, to max it out.

or to do all the chili dog missions, since it's "do the same level 9 more times, but these times, don't die"

if you find a way to patch the memory leak myself and others are having before the developers do, I will buy you a pint at #broweekend2012

So you beat shadow in 23 seconds by making some kick ass mods? What.
ztrot
my mods to the game so far include, playing as sliver about 50% done tweaking the current shadow mod to give his skates rocket flames and making a better boost animation supersonic anywhere any time and importing sonic unleashed lvls also awp if you can pin point the code where the leak is I think I could try tho I'm more of model edits and mem edits not really fixes
