I've read the faq, it's all installed...All ok...I run the pUpdater...Waiting...But always checking for updates...I think...Hmmm, maybe the program it's crashed...but the taskmanager sais: "ALL OK" .
What's wrong :D ?
Thanks

Please check yoru Internet Explorer security settings - make sure you don't have downloads blocked at all. This can usually be done by opening IE and going to:

Tools > Internet Options > Security

Click "Default Level"
Make sure the metre is set to Medium security.

Make sure you don't have any firewall/internet security software blocking the updater. If you do, try temporarily disabling.

Ok, I've checked for firewall, but I don't have a firewall...For internet option> security...It's medium security.
I have Zone Alarm, but I've unlocked the updater...Still don't working.

Are you trying to update at uni or school or something? It may be that the particular port osu uses to update is blocked (or something like that anyway). The exact same thing happens to me when I try to update at uni - never ending check for updates. But when I do it at home, no problems. :?

I get this same problem as well, stuck at checking for updates forever.

Running Vista Business (UAC off) with IE7
Home Computer
Firewall Off
IE7 Security set to Medium

But the changelog does display perfectly fine in the little window.

EDIT: OK I fixed this problem by setting a proxy in IE (to my ISP's proxy). Though I usually never use this proxy...

Exactly same problem with him... I can play normally though using the files you posted complete with the loss of functionality as you suggested. By the way can you post the update version of the files here?
