As keyboard bindings are adjustable, I'm not sure why mouse buttons aren't. The main issue is that one of the side mouse buttons pauses the game, and depending on the physical design of your mouse and your grip, it can be quite likely that you will accidentally hit this button in the middle of an intense section, generally ruining that playthrough.

I have searched around but haven't seen a setting for this, and since it should be very easy, I think it's a very reasonable request.

Depending on your mouse you can do this in a control panel provided by your mouse's manufacturer or you can find a multitude of applications that can do it for you. For example: If ESC is your way of pausing osu! with your keyboard, you can bind one of the side buttons to ESC and it will do the same when pressed, and you can unbind them as well. Why does there need to be settings for this in game? Here are some applications for reference: https://www.razer.com/synapse-2 https://www.corsair.com/us/en/icue

These are just to name a few, so as it would be nice to have there really isn't a purpose for it when all of these applications FROM the manufacturers were created just for this sort of thing.

The game consider IEBack, a common m5 default keybind, as esc. Change it or disable mouse buttons with f10. I don't think this should be a feature because the game is actually not handling them, I feel like it's an accident by ppy that this is done.

Hard agree. I can't tell you how many times I've been in the middle of song and accidentally hit my mouse4 and click right on the "retry" button. Absolutely infuriating.

I bumped this because this is an issue that needs a solution, and I haven't seen any for it other than disabling the keys with software.

This just happened to me while in the middle of an Insane playthrough where I had finally beat my highest local score.
I think "Disable Mouse Buttons" should disable the mouse completely.

Although, I see your point in that there are ways to go about disabling them, it's not something that is applicable to any other game. It's an issue specifically with this game, and that's why it should be a feature.

does ANYONE knows how to disable mouse buttons in mapping by the mouse being used to place notes then replace keybinds to place notes?

(Example : I press Keypad4, Inserts a Note On A Direction Of Where the keybind is )
Chromate

many hardware suppliers' drivers dont support changing the binding on different software(at least for mouses). and most people like to have it on default settings
