There are loads of people with the same pp count that simply have other better statistics that put them above you.

I don't really get what you're hinting at. You get points per each good score above rank #500, more or less depending on how well you perform.

Haven't tested this yet, but from what I gather, you need to achieve records intermittently to get more pp out of them. For example, setting ten #40 records in the space of an hour will provide less pp than setting them in the span of a day. That is what I am guessing.

In case you're wondering, this is NOT how you ask for a testplay... (click to toggle)

Thats not stated anywhere, and I haven't noticed it. You earn pp per map after all, so it should not at all be like that.

How comes I have top 400-800 rank on nearly every single ranked/approved top difficulty from last 2 months but my PP says there's over 9000 players better than me? They just don't play the newest ranked maps and just play old maps with high play counts? That's the only explanation I can find.

Your problem is that you are going about it all wrong. That is a terribly inefficient way of going about raising your pp. Two things to keep in mind:

1. The system does not care about scores higher than rank 500. Then again, few people do anyways so it all works out.The system mostly cares about your ranks that would make someone go, "Hey, he doesn't completely suck after all!"

2. Due to how the system works, you need to get a certain amount of really good ranks to get a high pp count. Getting a bunch of 400 to 500 ranks won't really do much.

I recommend SHing some Hards. At your skill level that should be an extremely easy task with some patience. Also,I would improve your top 500 scores that you have that don't have an impressive accuracy (especially the ones that you feel have a lot of weight). Simply improving an older rank's accuracy by a few percentage points can give you a noticeable pp boost.

EDIT: And good thing KRZY admitted to saying that he hadn't tested his theory yet, because nah, it doesn't work that way. Decent theory, but nah.

i dont like how your pp is dependant on how other people play. if you get a top 100 rank and you drop to rank 400, or even completely out of top 500 your pp will drop, but the map is still just as hard.

Yes, but you are not performing as well as many others if your score gets pushed way down - and that's what performance points are all about

This may explain why I get those sharp drops in pp, because some map score got dropped below rank 500.

Well its still just how it is and in my opinion isn't more or less then just fair enough. You're not better then anybody else just because you played the map before they did.

Pretty much.

The best way to rank up is the same as it was in the past. Play well.

Nerd the game and farm ranked score is what it used to be lol.

I like the pp system because I've gotten far to lazy to grind through all the ranked maps that exist.

I've seena HUGE increase in people going for rank #1 on normal/hard maps.

I used to have 5-6 and now I literally have one left (which will probably get taken after this post :P) Does getting multiple rank #1's etc on the SAME song but on DIFFERENT difficulty give you PP or is it all lumped together in the same map as with ranked score?

Each difficulty can contribute separately.
