In my opinion, there is no difference in 1/3 vs 1/6 snap in gameplay, but 220bpm causes the downbeat to be 100% more frequent.
Thus bpm doubling changes how you do your hitsounding, since you usually put claps on 2,4 with bpm undoubled, but you put claps on only 3 with bpm doubled.
