[Archived] Osu is lagging hard and flashes black

Problem details:
When I open Osu, it fades in slowly and everything lags like crazy. A black screen also flashes every couple seconds, and Osu is really unplayable for me. I have no idea how to fix this, help!

Have you tried restarting your computer yet?

Not sure if this is correct, but just in case, try downloading the installer from https://osu.ppy.sh/home/download and running it. Make sure you point the install location to the same place you currently have osu! installed or else you might end up with two versions of osu! on your computer at the same time.

While you have osu! closed, navigate to your install folder and open the "osu!.pcname.cfg" file in any text editor (notepad will do), then find and set the lines BloomSoftening and Shaders equal to 0. Save the file and close it, then try starting the game.

And if that doesn't work, try updating/reinstalling your graphics drivers.
