Ok, I've been waiting quite some time to actually write this, because I wasn't really sure what was going on. I'm still not completely sure what is happening, but I think there's enough going on that I can at least begin to complain in a formal manner.

I'm running osu! on an Acer Aspire 5542G laptop, Athlon II M320 @ 2.1GHz, 4GB Ram, Radeon Mobility HD5000 series graphics chip. Not a beast by any means, but enough to run osu fine.

The problem itself is that osu seems to occasionally ignore input and give me misses where I quite obviously hit the note. It's not frame lag, or related to it in any way.

Now, I have yet to find a way to "replicate" this bug other than simply playing a song and seeing if it happens. There is no audio skipping, no video framerate issues, or anything else that would account for osu ignoring me. It doesn't seem to happen often during fast streams or anything either (as far as I can tell, during fast streams it is kinda hard to tell whether you legitimately missed the note or not).

The thing that makes me feel like this could be something introduced recently is that I never experienced this sort of problem until the recent series of updates peppy made to osu. I'm not sure exactly when I noticed it happening, but I've been waiting and it's still happening.

Nothing has been changed that could affect this in the recent updates, to my knowledge. You might want to check on anything you installed on your PC recently that may be handling your keystrokes on a global level; these kinds of apps can often slow down the whole input stack to the point input may be ignored.

You can also try turning off the frame limiter if it is enabled, as this will increase the polling of input.

I also have this bug. When playing, the game will randomly ignore my keyboard input. It works fine with my mouse, but if I try to play with the keyboard it just randomly ignores input. Frame limiting is turned off and I don't have any applications that could be affecting the input stack.

How long does it ignore input for, and how often?
Have you tried changing your frame limiter settings to see if it helps?
What keyboard are you using? Is it on a USB hub of any kind?

if you are using an older keyboard, it may be a symptom of ghosting, depending on your binds - try switching your keyboard binds to entirely different segments of the keyboard (z for left and 0 for right, so on) and see if that alleviates the issue

If it's a wireless keyboard, keep in mind they were never designed for anything other than bog-standard word processing. If it isn't, or it's a cheap wired keyboard, take note that many of them only support up to 3 key presses at any one time. If while hitting z/x you accidentally mash another key or two near them, it'll drop key presses. The only two ways around this is either using a fancy keyboard with a 'n key rollover' function, or forcing yourself to not mash buttons (but in the roaring heat of osu! competition, this can be tricky :) ).

Hi, to answer your questions in order:

It ignores input for about a half a second to two seconds.
I have tried the frame limiter settings to no avail.
I'm using a G19. It is not on a USB hub. The only time that input gets dropped is in osu!, never in any other game or application.
I'm not using an older keyboard, and at most two keys (zx) are being pressed, which can be pressed simaltaneously just fine.
It's not wireless, nor a cheap wired keyboard.

We already had this problem several times (without any solution though): t/85892 and t/88459 .

That first one doesn't sound much like my problem. The keys work fine, and then they don't. It's never just the left key. Though I guess we both have input related issues.

It's pretty aggrivating. I'll test and see if typing in the chat I lose any input. My framerate doesn't drop during these periods, though, so I don't really see why the input handler would just ignore me.

Hmm, it's not anything there then; the G19 has 5 key rollover minimum. Funnily enough, osu! sometimes drops my tablet input the same way it's dropping your keyboard input. I thought it might be the tablet dying, but maybe not.

This also happens on my friends' computer with a similar setup, G15 keyboard, as well as my sister's laptop... :/ Not really sure what's happening here.
