The osu! World Cup (Team Vs) #2 ended recently and it had a great run! Continue reading for detailed information!
The tournament stages lasted roughly 20 weeks, 32 teams joined, and 40 matches were played. A lot of exciting matches were held during that time; many of which were streamed live thanks to help from the community. Some problems were faced with organization, but in the end the Finals were reached! From the very beginning, Korea and Japan weren't surprising anyone by winning all of their preliminary stage matches and taking 1st place in each of their respective groups. Korea had to face powerful teams such as the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine. In the end, they lost only 2 maps from all of their matches (one against the Netherlands and one in the Final). Japan wasn't much worse; from their group stage until the Final they lost only 1 map, but in the direct clash with Korea in the Finals they lost 1-4. The Final itself didn't surprise; however, there was a very unexpected result: Brazil won against Russia in the match for 3rd place. Other teams such as Taiwan, the title-holder from the previous osu! World Cup, didn't make it to the semi-finals, and therefore Brazil was considered a dark horse of the tournament. Congratulations to Korea (6 months supporter and profile badges), Japan (3 months supporter), and Brazil (1 month supporter); and thanks to all participating teams!
