If you play Osu with one headphone in and one out, you will notice the keyboard makes noise a lot earlier than the hitsounds. Why? is there an actual reason to have delayed hitsound, or it just "there?"

Hitsounds need fixing
blame the lack of rhythm gaming efficiencies during the early developments of the game

Ive tried Lazer, and the issue is still in that game too. If lazer is an entire rebuild of the game, why is it still there? and if that is still there, how much other things will be ported from stable to lazer? Im not trying to be rude, please dont take it that way

Well, clicking keyboard produces some sound even before it's all the way down to registering the click, and that sound is surely going to reach you before the actual effect of the click -> hit in game -> hitsounds from your headset; so even if you'd get 0 delay hitsounds and all working pitch perfect it'd presumably have some amount of delay compared to your keyboard sounds lol

In a regular sitting position, there is about 0.7 m from the keys in your keyboard and your ears, because of the speed of sound, there is about 2ms of delay from pressing a key and the sound reaching your ears.

Signals travel on wires much faster than sound in air, so in theory, if you wear headphones, you could achieve less delay in hitsounds than keypress sounds. In practice, the only way to achieving this is creating an audio feedback system that doesn't go through the USB controller inside the keyboard nor the PC; for example, by connecting the switches of the keyboard to a simple electronic buzzer that outputs audio to the headphones.

2ms is imperceptible. 15ms+ is

We need ASIO or WASAPI, this delay you are hearing is because DirectSound with all the Windows mixer crap adds audio latency. Usually you get between 50 and 100ms latency with DirectSound, but under 20ms with ASIO or WASAPI. This has been requested by Rustbell and many others like 2 years ago, and I'm sure some have thought about it long before then. PLEEEEASEE GIVE US ASIO OR WASAPI. And Peppy stop saying it's not DirectSound or that latency is not perceptible, BECAUSE IT IS.
