Hey everyone!
Um, this might come out of the blue, but have you ever had a beatmap request? If so, how did you handled it?
Are there mappers that are used to work on maps by demand? (I'm really skeptical about that)
I thought to pop this question up because, it's not that I don't like japanese or asian in general based beatmaps, but let's face it, it's predominant; and myself, am more of a classical/jazz bebopy/swing guy. I love anime, OP and EN themes, but after a while, a really long while I feel that it would be good to change it up a bit (techno and electronic music can be kind of just resorting to alternating). I have spent nights searching for maps of the before mentioned genres but there has been little to no result, and a lot of those maps are either experiments or 30 seconds of the actual song with the only actual full song being beatmapped as CS 6 AR 8 OD 5 HP 7 and objects arranged randomly. There are only a few good ones that are like, playable, memorable and made with love.
Examples of what those genres mean in this context:
Classical:
Jazz:
Swing:
Could have provided better examples but I made the lists up from the top of my head.
And this is where I ask the thing that I'm afraid of being pointed out as controversial
Are there any mappers that are willing to map for money? Like, good maps, rankable maps, different difficulties or not.
I'm afraid that if they are, all mappers would want to charge for mapping, and suddenly, we are running out of maps to play 'cause everyone wants to get paid; I actually dunno how large the mapping community is, certainly is far smaller in comparison to the only-play portion of the osu community.
Anyway, just throwing that out there, I want to hear your thoughts since this has been on my head for a while now.
Cheers!
