[Archived] My beatmaps are disappearing :(

Problem Details:
Hi!
i have a problem with my beatmaps... i dont know whats going on but starting yesterday my beatmaps have just been disappearing from my game... like i search for titles and they dont come up... i get them back by pressing f5.. but the problem is that i have all the beatmaps that i like in collections so i dont have to remember all the maps in my head.. and when maps disappear and when i press f5, they come back but they are gone from my collections... so i have to find them and add them to collections again... does anyone know how to fix this? :(

Check if your antivirus isn't deleting osu!.db

If it's still there
Move the file osu!.db out of osu!


Where is the osu! Folder placed?

Okay i removed it from osu, should it be okay now? ;d
All my collections disappeared now haha, do i have to creat new ones?

Just press f5 in game and they'll appear again
If you're paranoid, you can backup collection.db just in case

Nope still gone >.< should i put osu.db back? or not

Try to move the collections.db elsewhere, see if you can generate a new one, delete the new one and move your old one back.
See if that helps any.

Also did you group maps by collections?
Maybe it got corrupted and there are no more maps in collections that's why it's empty

wait i just restarted my osu and i have my collections again :p the maps that disappeard arent in there though but i guess ill just have to find them, add them to collections and hope they dont disappear again xd

Maybe osu! Is placed in a temporary folder? Check if it isn't placed in C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\temp\
See if the songs that went missing are still in your osu! Folder

Possibly make a screenshot by pressing Shift+F12 and post it here

Yeah osu is placed in C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\.. and the songs are not missing from my osu! folder.. so idk whats wrong xd
and yeah i dont know the names of alot of the songs... but the ones i do know the names of are in the folder

yeaahhhhh when i move it to a different location and try to open osu!... it just installs a new osu! in C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\
and when i open osu after that i have no beatmaps, no skins and all the settings are set to default...

Did you just move osu!.exe?

osu! Is completely portable, you can move the whole folder anywhere you like
Even on USBs
I don't understand why it'll install again

No i moved the whole folder to my desktop and when i opened osu it installed again in C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\

Weird, it shouldn't update, and an update shouldn't install to a different directory
Are you opening the installer maybe?
If you aren't, just try moving it to another location other than desktop and try again

You can also try copying the whole osu! Folder to the newly installed one and see if it works now

hmmmm idk i dont wanna mess anything up so i lose my maps or something ;-; so i guess im just gonna wait and see if it happens again

You can also backup your songs just in case
