Welcome to the osu! Malaysia - Singapore Tournament 2016, and this is the first time I'm hosting such a tournament in ClawViper's place. For the past few years, the osu! Malaysia Tournament has been catered to Malaysian players, a friendly match between friends. This year, to spice things up and to make it more challenging, we have extended our invitation to our neighbour, Singapore!

WINNERS

Champion: GSBlank
1st Runner-up: Emilia
2nd Runner-up: Rtyzen

Congratulations!

    - Group stages will consist of 8 groups of 4, with the top 2 players of each group proceeding to the Round of 16.
    - The preliminary stages and group stages will be played in a Best-of-5 format. (First to get 3 points wins.)
    - From group stages onwards, players are allowed to ban 2 beatmaps of his choice from the map pool.

Match Scheduling
  • 1. The match schedule will be determined by the tournament administration. All matches scheduled by the tournament management are held on the weekends.
    2. If a player cannot make it at the time of the match, the player has to take the initiative to contact his opponent to rearrange the time or day of the match.
    3. The day of the match can only be changed from the Thursday before the scheduled match weekend to the Wednesday after the scheduled match weekend.
    4. Rule 3 does not apply to Week 1 to 4 matches, where matches for the Preliminary Stages can be rescheduled as long as it is within Week 1 to Wednesday of Week 2, while those for Group Stages can be rescheduled as long as it is within Week 3 to Wednesday of Week 4.
    5. If your match time has changed, please send a PM to the tournament administration, via the forum or Discord. Both players should PM the change in time.
    6. If the other player cannot make it on any time but the scheduled time, there will be no change in the match schedule.
    7. If there is clear evidence that the other player ignores your request (not reject) and refuses to communicate, that player will be disqualified.
Before the Match
  • - The beatmaps for each round will be announced by the mappool selector in advance one week before the matches on Sunday. Once it has been announced, only these beatmaps can be used for the respective matches excluding warm-up maps.
    - One beatmap will be given as tiebreaker map. This beatmap will be played when the score is tied at 3-3 in a Best of 7, 4-4 in a Best of 9, 5-5 in a Best of 11 and 6-6 om a Best of 13. It will be played under FreeMod setting.
    - Match schedules will also be released at about the same time as the mappool. Players are expected to check the forum thread for their match timings beforehand, and stay tuned to the Discord server for any last-minute rescheduling.
    - Players are expected to download all the maps before the match. If the player does not have a map during the match, only one chance is allowed for the player to download. Any further maps not downloaded will result in the offending player losing by default.
    - A referee will create a multiplayer room 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Both players must be online and ready. If a player is not online when the room is created, the referee will wait until 10 minutes past the scheduled start time. After that, the player who turns up will win by default.
    - If a player does not turn up for the match in the preliminary stage and group stage, the opponent who turned up will win automatically.
    - If both players do not turn up for the match, both of them forfeit their match and their opponent in the next round will get a bye.
    - Players who do not turn up for their match without prior notice will be permanently banned from all future tournaments which I, or any other player, organises. (Currently banned players: ZYuan, caleb123456, carlvexclive, Phazyy)
During the Match
  • - As soon as both players enter the room, each player is free to select a warm-up beatmap from group stage onwards.
    - There will be no warmups for preliminary stages. Players are expected to carry out warmups themselves.
    - The warm-up beatmap must be under 5 minutes. The referee has the right to reject a warm-up beatmap that is deemed to be inappropriate.
    - After warm-up, both players can ban two beatmaps. Both bans must be used, and the same beatmap cannot be banned twice, and the tiebreaker cannot be banned. The banning will alternate between players.
    - After the ban phase, beatmap selection will alternate between each player selecting a beatmap out of the map pool. Banned beatmaps and the tiebreaker beatmap cannot be selected. A single beatmap cannot be picked twice.
    - To determine which player ban and picks first, both players must use "!roll" once in #multiplayer. The player with the higher points will go first in both picks and bans.
    - Players who failed at the end of the map will have their score nullified. However, if the player revives before the map ends his score is counted as if he passed the map. If both players fail at the end of the map, the player with the higher fail score will be considered to have won.
    - If the beatmap ends in a draw, no points are added to any side and the beatmap is played again.
    - If a player disconnects, the referee will make the decision whether to award the point to the opponent or not depending on the score difference. There can only be one rematch offered, subsequent disconnects will give the point to the opponent.
    - If both players disconnect, it is treated as a draw and the beatmap is played again.
    - Beatmaps cannot be picked more than once in the same match. However, different beatmaps from the same mod bracket can be picked in a row.
    - Lag is not a valid reason to nullify a beatmap.
    - Referees are not allowed to judge their own matches.
    - Unexpected incidents are handled by the referee.
    - As Malaysia and Singapore are both multi-ethnic countries, any negative remarks on a player's race, religion or sensitive matters that may trigger anger and displeasure will be taken very seriously and can result in a disqualification or even a ban from the future tournaments. This is up to the referee's and the tournament administration's discretion.

Those are just like group stages. This time round we have 2 group stages.
If you can't make it on the weekends you can always reschedule with your opponents. As long you complete your matches in the 2 weeks designated for the Preliminary Rounds, it's fine. We'll set a timing for you as a guide at first, but they won't be final. As long as your opponent is okay with rescheduling, we'll change the timing.
