Oh sup!

I noticed everytime I play a map in taiko for the first time after the map processing, I get a lag at very first note. I restart the map and it's fine from now on. I open new map up and it lags on the first note again and so on. It can't be my Chrome or any other app that runs on my pc. I'm fairly sure it's the problem with osu! itself.

Happens to me on all modes. Seems to be related to changes in the online score retrieval.
Gameplay, cosmetic, remark, badly applied mods, ranking guidelines.

Yeah, I had to format my computer because it crashed and shiz, now I have a Windows Vista Starter (don't blame me, it was the only CD I had here and I'm getting a new computer very very soon). The problem is, when I'm playing osu! standard, when I'm doing spinners and they finish, I get a lag that almost always make me combobreak. Pausing the game when the spinner ends I get 30-40fps on the pause menu (being the normal 55-60fps). Sometimes, because of this lag, some ninja spinners don't even work, and I miss all of them and occasionally fail (look at Bowling for Soup - 1985 map). So, is there any kind of solution for this?

DirectX, though playing on openGL makes the spinner lag even worse.
Yes, VSync on, because without it, the approach circles start getting a bit crazy (they stop sometimes) and constant lag without it.
1GB ram, Celeron, integrated graphics card.

BEST COMPUTER EVER.

Even though, it worked fine when I used Windows XP. Why does it lag every spinner on Vista, being the same exact computer, just a different OS? :|

This is not a joke.. I have the same exact problem as wuliang described a page before
I always have a lag spike on Banned Forever at 01:36:327
The same goes for Yakety Sax somewhere at 01:39:360 and at 03:19:317 maybe a bit later.
I believe it's not these maps' problem
As I said the lag always happens. I don't know what's causing this, but it's very annoying and practically always leads to a miss.

I tried just every possible configuration in osu! (openGL, dx, low spec e.t.c.) and nothing helped

Actually I many friends met the same problem

Maybe system closed, some key service
Or in particular circumstances program code appeared BUG

Because of the visual requirements. You have to go back to Windows XP, 1GB ram is not enough to handle that OS. You may want to scroll up or down while you are on firefox watching a video, for sure it will move slowly with freeze.

Many people as I know have this kind of problem and in every mode
So, this is the research I made on the issue of "Lag spikes at the exact times"

This is crazy. But there is some logic
I tested all this either by playing myself (osu! standart) or watching auto doing this.
Numbers indicate my tries
Times indicate where I have a lag spike
Sonic Heroes [Insane] - 1. 01:41:131 2. 01:39:216 3. 01:40:093
Banned Forever [Nogard] - 1. 01:35:714 2. 01:36:054 3. 01:35:918
Yakety Sax:
First spike - 1. 01:39:301 2. 01:38:884 3. same as 1.
Second spike - 1. 03:19:674 2. 03:19:436 3. same as 2.

Power of Dream [DaRRi MIx] - 01:43:358

Rock Club [Supreme Master] - 1. 01:38:110 2. 01:37:810 3. 01:37:360

Ventil of Nightmare [Insane] - 1. 01:46:828 2. 01:47:349 3. 01:46:958

Beautiful day - V3 [Impossible] - 1. 01:39:036 2. 01:39:318 3. 01:38:943

Shanghai Tea House [Lunatic] - from 01:53:369 to 01:53:615
First timing section is at 15 seconds! 1.53 - 15 = 1.38 !!

Agony - 1. 02:02:096 2. 02:01:528 3. 02:01:869
First timing section is at 25 seconds! 2.02 - 25 = 1.37 !!

Taihen na Mono no Shoushitsu [Lost] 02:02:780-02:03:030
First timing section is at 27 seconds! 2.02 - 27 = 1.35 !!

Also 2peppy: this post (in case you missed it) provides some more information about this problem.

Can you check whether these spikes occur in the editor, and also with autoplay mod enabled?

Yes, they appear in editor too.
But I tried starting Yakety Sax at 10second and I got a spike at 1.48 not at 1.38 as before
When I started Agony at the very beginning and haven't skipped the intro the lag was at 1.39
The same goes for Shanghai Teahouse. I didn't skip the intro and the lag was at 1.39-1.40
So it most definently not timing section, that causes this, but Game Time ~ 100 seconds

Help please :P

I'm getting "Type 3" lag: occasional momentary freezes. Sometimes when I'm playing a map (usually around one and a half minutes in) it'll just go "OH HEY IMMA FREEZE AND BREAK YOUR COMBO OKAY" and then I'm like "UH NO" so I have lots of A-Ranks because of that problem. I'm hoping someone has a way to fix it.

I'm not running an anti-virus or any programs in the background (sometimes a browser window) and I don't have multiple processor cores.
  • Modding information is here. I am not currently taking mod requests.
